To reiterate, I'm not contesting WHAT he is saying, I'm just saying that HE isn't an "authority" on gaming since he hasn't produced anything HALF as good as HE claims his games are. With both Black and White as well as Fable, Molypoo made some lofty, self-promoting statements about how he was going to fundamentally change gaming with those two games and both of them were utter disappointements in my book. He's full of himself and a douche. That is all.
Are you joking? Hes a legend in the industry...he got some award from the queen for services to Britian. Fable was a great game, true I never read the hype, but it was fantastic, have you ever thought your merely angry because your a fanatical Sony fan?

He can say what he wants because hes a bit higher up in the industry than you'll ever be, boss of Lionhead studios and creator of one of the biggest selling Xbox games...

Yet he has no authority, thats funny. In short, I dispise people like you, so ignorant to post something so pathetic because your obviously a fan-...wait, we were told not to use the F word...but you get my drift.

Heh, I clicked the link expecting to see something on terms with Molyneux denying the Holocaust. But instead all he has said is that the ps3 hasn't had any defining games? Well I'd have to agree, Only a fanboy could take offense at that.

Yeah, I'm not part of the current gen of consoles, but to me, the 'big two' are fairly similar really, and I'm not gonna get into the 'core' or 'bluray' argument, they just are 'fairly close'.

So, I'd make my decision on games, and at present I'd have to go with the 360, however, as I'm not in the position of buying one at the moment, maybe I'll change my mind in the future, I'm not a fa

What so some of you guys want people in the industry to say?

'Hello, I'm here to comment on the state of the current gaming industry and ...no comment. Thanks for coming!'
People have opinions, and if they've been around a while, and created some landmark games, then I think they've probably earned the right to say a few things occasionally without getting branded a douche, as they said, he didn't deny the holocaust or say homosexuals were a mistake of nature or something, he said at the moment PS3 is rather lacking in real standout titles that define the console, and I consider MGS to not be of a wide enough audience really. Sure it's a big title, but its sure not for everyone.

I also thought Gran Turismo but there's certainly no 'characters' or much to hang advertising from. He also said he had hopes for LitteBigPlanet, which admittedly is linked to him, but its proof to me he's not just anti PS3.

Sadly a lot of this thread seems full of those types who are 'none so blind as those who PS3'.

I like his games, not his attitude. I loved Fable, and if II is the same with better graphics, then I will be entertained.

Oh wait, having to post in this thread.....

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH 360 IS LIKE MY OWN FALSE IDOL WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH I'D DIE FOR IT WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SONY SUCKS WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Strange...I loved Black and White 1&2, Dungeon Keeper 1&2, Fable and probably will love Fable 2...yet ive never heard of Populous
Populous is one of the most bad-ass God-Games ever, you need to play it. . . NOW, or I'll cast Volcano on you.

Oh the fun moments I had making my shaman climb a mountain to assassinate the enemy shaman with a lightning bolt spell.
Actually I think that is part of my point... those who played Populous know that it is far better than anything else he has done. He peaked back in the early 90s and has been kissing his own ass since.
While I think Populous is the best "God" game ever I have to say that the original Fable is a thing of beauty as well. Black and White, not so much.

I rank Peter Molyneux and Pete Moore as two of my fav gaming "personalities". You can always count on them to say something contentious or downright blunt; whereas the likes of Miyamoto and Kojima aren't as colourful. The thing is though Kojima actually delivers on his promises.

Wow, a lot of people really hate Peter Molyneux!
I've always rather liked him. Everyone claims he makes dickheaded comments claiming his game will be the best ever, but I think it's the same type of affection one would give a child. I mean, he has claimed before that they are his babies. Also, who doesn't like a guy who wants you to feel love? He'll probably fail, but at least he's trying.

As it is, Kratos is more likely than not to be the mascot of the Ps3, if Solid Snake is not allowed to be for some unexplained reason.
The only reason I don't count Solid Snake as Sony's "mascot" is because he's not a Sony character - he belongs to Konami. He's in Smash Brothers Brawl, for another reason.

I can't see Kratos being a terribly successful face for the PlayStation brand, either. A very angry man who slaughters his way through Greek mythology isn't going to have the same potential mass-market appeal as Mario (who's utterly inoffensive) or Master Chief (a soldier saving humanity, which is easily portrayed as noble/honorable).

Even Snake isn't easily summed up in a single sentence; there's too much history and story for him to be a simple poster-boy.

Personally, I like the idea of Little Big Planet being the public "face" of the PS3. It's a game with mass-market appeal, it's got cute characters and it buys into the whole user-generated content thing that's so popular these days.

True but unfortunatly EA bought over most of the early games and made a shit version.

obviously he has never heard of metal gear, god of war or final fantasy
MGS4 had a big wow when it came out but lets face it it quickly gets dull, except for the most hardcore.
GoW was on the PS2 and nothing has changed since.
FF is not an exclusive anymore so will do as mush for other platforms as it will for the PS3.
Haze was a defining title it was defining "bad".

Maybe its just me, but I don't want to feel that kind of love.
I probably should have expected that.

I don't want the kind of love you're thinking of either, by the way. Just thought you should know.

To clarify, I don't think his point is wrong, I just think he isn't the one to make it cuz he's a douche.
The whole premise of this comment is dumb. It shouldn't matter who makes the point. Really.
Very true. Hilter, with backing vocals from Stalin and Osama Bin Liden could sing out the lines and it'd still be valid (although you won't stick around to hear as in case the USA decides that you are 'acceptable collateral damage' and just blow up the whole area).

I'm sure Peter Molyneaux is a very nice man and you all need to be nicer to him. He also produces somewhat innovative games of decent quali-AAGHHH I CAN'T DO IT.

Okay, His games are fine. But he needs to STOP talking. And I don't mean he needs to stop talking about other peoples games, or the industry, I mean he needs to stop fucking talking

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=DPWzZGzCLoQ

Watch this video. He just talks and talks and talks. Eventually I started screaming at my monitor, begging him to shut up and show some actualy gameplay footage. And this goes on for 32 minutes.

Molyneaux is a legend for his ability to ttttaaaaaallllllkkkk, and legendary for the trouble it gets him into- his games never live up.

PS- PS3 DOES lack good games.
