There is a lot of fanboyery going on in this thread, people, behave. Especially you bulletinmybrain, Are you sure Square-Enix isn't planning a simultaneous release of FFXIII? Like every multi-platform developer does?
But enough of that. I'm taking a deep breath now. The thing I find surprising is that Peter Molyneux wasn't even being a douchebag in this article. He made the point that a console needs identifiable titles to it as part of its success. And he has said the PS3 hasn't really got one yet, but little big planet looks like it will be the game that does it for the system.
Now, these games are hard to come by. MGS is not an ideal example of this, MGS4 is a niche title at best, if I were to go out onto the street and ask twenty people if they know what Metal gear Solid is I would probably get two affirmatives. If I did the same thing with "Wiifit" or "Halo" that number would greatly increase. And I think Halo is the only title that is brandable to the Xbox 360 as a system defining game.
Nintendo is the champion of this, Mario, Samus, Link, Pokemon, etc. Xbox has Master Chief, Playstation has Kratos, but GoW III is not really getting the saliva flowing at all right now, I don't even know when it is being planned to be released.
If y'all wanted to site an article showing how Molyneux is an ego ridden game dev asswipe, this was not a great article, he only mentioned his game and studio once and he was humbole about it. Then he vouched for the team developing a game on a competitive system in a competitive time frame.
If anything I would use this article to say "We need more developers with attitudes like Peter Molyneux"
And although it was really too short, Fable was an excellent title, I expect Fable 2 will be excellent as well, but it won't be one of those titles that defines the Xbox.
