And isn't Halo owned by Bungie? Who left Microsoft in disgust at the end of the year? So haven't they lost their mascot?
Microsoft have bought the rights to the Halo franchise off Bungie, so it belongs to them now.

It's also a mischaracterization to say that Bungie left Microsoft "in disgust"; the two companies still work very closely on the Halo series; as is usual when one of these IPs changes hands, Bungie have first refusal on any new Halo projects, and haven't turned any down (as far as I know).
Then that begs the question of why they became an independent company at all.
To branch out, But they won't because they are going to go mario on us and re-roll halo a million times each time him getting more and more stupid.

When I see a Ps3, I don't really see that "I must buy it" idea.

Ok it has Metal Gear 4, but I don't really think it has enough defining games yet.

It's part of their plan, the Seven Step Plan for World Domination [http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/7_Steps_to_World_Domination]. Not the bit about Mario though, that's just petty fanboyism for bullet's part.

I'm sure Peter Molyneaux is a very nice man and you all need to be nicer to him. He also produces somewhat innovative games of decent quali-AAGHHH I CAN'T DO IT.

Okay, His games are fine. But he needs to STOP talking. And I don't mean he needs to stop talking about other peoples games, or the industry, I mean he needs to stop fucking talking

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=DPWzZGzCLoQ

Watch this video. He just talks and talks and talks. Eventually I started screaming at my monitor, begging him to shut up and show some actualy gameplay footage. And this goes on for 32 minutes.

Molyneaux is a legend for his ability to ttttaaaaaallllllkkkk, and legendary for the trouble it gets him into- his games never live up.

PS- PS3 DOES lack good games.
Thank you...

I really wonder if people have actually seen molydouche talk in an interview. Not since Derek Smart has someone been so smug.

What was this thread about again?

If it was about how PM was completly correct in his comments, then we've all agreed the PS3 has no defining game at this momment in time...

Sorry, what was your thread about again?

It's not really smugness, it's confidence in the game being quality.

Honestly, Peter Molyneux is the best PR guy I've seen, he's created a lot of talk and hype, if Fable 2 isn't a revolutionary as it's advertised he'll be in trouble.

so...... what? Unless he's making an autobiographical video game about himself, where you have to play as him (obviously it'd be an FPS!), then what's the big deal? And I still don't see what that has to do with what he said.

This is a very disjointed thread.

Would you mind saying why MGS IV doesn't count?
A defining game would be something amazing that is hailed as a game of the year or century, everyone will remember the game and it will be synonymous with the console, it will also be the reason many bought the console.

From what I've heard even fans of MGS found the 4th to be underwhelming so I wouldn't count it as a defining game.

The same thing can be said about Halo 3 and Smash Bros, people always complain about how something isn't as good as the original. I think that MGS4 is a "defining" game of the PS3, it's on the system after all and it's one of the games they were riding on "future potential", but as it stands I can admit that the PS3 doesn't have to many of those "defining" games.
If you look into it closer, there are some good games that could be considered "Defining" it (IE Unchated for it's visuals (which you will not appreciate until you turn on the next-gen filter easter egg) Warhawk for it's amazing lag-free online play, Resistance for it's action and such, ect...) but as it stands, the PS3 admitedly doesn't have as much as the 360 and (maybe) the Wii (i'm reluctant to say the Wii because we all know the kind of shovelware that gets dumped on it)
