I'm not even a fan of Duke Nukem and I'm starting to hope Duke Nukem fucking shatters records when it's released. I will say this though, Duke Nukem has done what no one else can: brought self-righteous conservatives and busybody liberals together.

The Capture the Babe mode of the Duke Nukem game, which will be played primarily by young people
And right here is where they lose their argument. The game is rated 18 (or M in America), so the only way that anyone under the age of 18 (or 17 in America) is if their parents buy it for them. That is either the choice of the parent, or due to their stupidity in not looking into the game first. Either way, hardly the fault of the developers
still, that "young people" will be too busy with Call of Bullshit or Halo: Derp Evolved or whatever

FOX News: "Brace yourself for the awfully sexist world of Duke Nukem Forever."

Oh, it's on.
Oh shit. I hate FOX news a little bit more already.

OT: There's an angry ex-lawyer who comes to mind at times like this, he'll be glazing his pants over this story, I'm sure of it.

Games sell better when there's controversy surrounding them, so at this rate DNF is probably gonna outsell COD Black Ops. And good thing, I never played and old DN game but I loved Painkiller and this just looks like it with a heap of parody scooped on.

On that quote about 1 in 4 women are abused...I'm not really seeing a connection to an over the top madness of DN but just more evidence for my less than kind view of Americans in general. Sigh.
Why must people (both the "activists" who start these sorts of thing and the bleating masses) be so damn bad?

HEY LET'S IGNORE THIS!

Listen, if we want to take this medium seriously; we have to be the ones regulating it. Just because it's a VIDEO GAEM doesn't mean that it can be offensive and silly.
Yes, it does. Most television shows are not of the caliber of "The Twilight Zone" or "Star Trek" or "I Love Lucy", but they still get to stay on the air. Many shows are just silly.

Perfect example, though the show is now in TV Limbo: "Two-and-a-Half Men". Obviously sexist and one of the highest rated shows on at the moment. Charlie Sheen was simply ACTING LIKE HIMSELF for the duration of his tenure and was fired only when he started in on one of the producers. The show earned that crazy, fucked-up man $2 million an episode, and it was offensive and silly from the first episode.

There is no "regulating the medium". That would be censorship and censorship infringes on one of my BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS, and is therefore bad.

Horray sexism?

I don't have any strong feelings on this point. I'm still mulling over whether dude nukem essentially boils down tot he equivalent of an off color joke about "the blacks" or "the gays" in the form of "the womans." It could be just a joke or it could be a joke that reenforces negative ideas and stereotypes. Hell its a dated concept on the whole and can easily be a bad, joke told far too late. Things change in 12 years.

Fox, you should just give up on this. Usually people who judge things are at the very least EXPERIENCED in the things that they judge.
It's not just Fox, there are other groups such as the petition on Change.org and the Morning Show in Australia. Heck, there are probably other groups too protesting Duke Nukem, but I do agree with you. It is usually the people who have no idea what they're talking about that try to protest these type of things. The same people who would protest the entire gaming industry because they think games will make you violent and/or stupid.

If it weren't for the fact that DNF is BLATANTLY parody, I think that they would have the right to complain and try to rally like-minded individual against the game. However, the over the top stereotypes of both male and female saves it from being in truly bad taste, Honestly, a Babe slapping mode sounds more like a tounge in cheek sexist thing then a domestic violence thing. And that's fine as long as the audience it is presented to can see it as parody, and not a real artistic intention in and of itself.
You make an excellent point, good sir.

Also, I find it hilarious to see such a perfect, reasonable response... along with an Ingsoc avatar (I absolutely loved 1984 btw)

I am angry that Duke Nukem Fornev- I mean forever is getting released

But they should have fun with it. The game won't be able to stand up to most other current titles, atleast give it something to stand out with, y'know?

I'm not going to buy the game, but will I have a laugh about people taking this too seriously,

FUCK YEAH.

And I think that Duke should force all of those signers to suck his balls of steel, as well.
