Wait... a Spider-Man musical? Just when I thought Peter Parker couldn't get worse he starts singing!

Maybe it's like "The Producers". Come up with a bad musical and turn a profit.
That was my thought on it, too.

What are the odds someone discovered they'd make more money if the show manages to fail?

something tells me that if one invests 60 million dollars in a flop, they're doing it wrong.

Dude, I am SO THERE. Especially if it's bad.
I missed It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman, not being... born yet, so I won't make that mistake a second time!

And when did Spiderman sleep with Webber and the female author who shall not be named for her bastardization of the vampire genre?

That's all I can think of, an angsty Peter Parker singing about how much a loser he is to MJ.

You fanbois realize that you're not the audience for this, right? Do you think the producers are going to make their money back from comic book fans?

It's a Broadway musical, first & foremost. The source material is incidental - it's just an excuse to stage spectacle. I'm no fan of Taymor's films - she is squarely a theatrical director and doesn't know how to scale back for the screen - but they hired her for the job because she has a track record for creating extravagent, money-making fluff (e.g., the Lion King stage production).

As for these pictures - they're so photoshopped & post-processed, it's impossible to see whether the costumes will look cool or absurd when seen in person. But one things for certain - a "faithful" recreation of Spider-Man outfits would looks stupid for a Broadway production; you're basically going for Kabuki for something like that, so it's got to be over the top.

I have no clue what the hell that thing in the first picture is...

The second one is either Green Goblin or Vulture. I'm leaning towards Green Goblin, because he's the more well known, but then its got wings instead of a glider

Wait, that's Carnage! Where did he come from? They just skipping straight to him with no Venom? And how are they going to get those tentacles to work?

They do look kind of cute together in that last picture

If I kill myself, and in the suicide note, blame it on the Spiderman Musical, and they cancel it, I feel that my death would have made the world a better place.

I want to go see this, if only to laugh at how awful it is as an unintentionally hilarious, overblown mess.

...Also, why the hell did Marvel sign off on this in the first place?

hahaha this will be awesome. Not "The Evil Dead: the Musical" awesome , but at least "oh my got thats so bad" awesome
Evil Dead in Toronto was amazing, the first three rows always got splashed with blood and I can still remember the song "What the fuck was that?"

I never really saw Spiderman as a musical, but it will probably be better then the worse musical I ever saw, I can't remember the name but it involved puppets.
