Uh, what? Look, you play a character. Not yourself. In gaming, there is very little role-playing. It's closer to a movie in that respect. Thus, I usually play as a woman. They look better.

If its single play games I'll play through as both sexes sometimes to see the differences. I made female characters on WoW before, I just liked how the Female Draenei Characters looked over the males. I didn't run around trying to be something I am not though.

Well, I am female, and mostly play female characters. I hate the stereotype and those who try playing a female character to scam advantages annoy me, so I never mention being female in real life, though I don't explicitly hide it either. Sometimes people try to give me stuff out of nowhere and I just generally decline. Wouldn't want to reinforce that stupid stereotype. The only times I've accepted gifts was when I crafted items for people and they decided to throw something in (often materials) as a thanks, even though I said I'd do it for free.

I play a lot of games, and since most of them have male protagonists, I tend to always play females in my MMOs. They feel a little more personal.

Playing multiplayer as a girl can get nasty. Singleplayer has never been a problem for me though. Black Widow perk is way better than Ladykiller. Third person girls have obvious advantages for a guy. Female voice acting is sometimes better. NPC interaction can be more interesting. Choice of partymembers as well. Just depends on the game for me.

Yes, I have never made a girl character to do that. Mainly because when I played WoW, I ninja looted. I have honor that I do not to loose by begging.

yeah I wanted to see if they made any changes in how character react to your evil deads in Mass Effect.
ALso in Reppelz all the guys looked stupid because they were wearing like man bra things it was creepy so i made a female character for that. also i don;t want to stare at a guys ass for 180ish levels (nice and high level cap in that game).

Ok I play a bit of WoW every now and then. I have a few male toons but mostly female.
Why? Because if I have to spend days looking at one thing I would rather that thing atleast look kind of like a female.
I dont project myself onto my toons and I dont roleplay with any of them (Leave that to the PnP) so I don't see a problem.

When I make toons, I don't exactly roleplay them, but I DO make a character concept to go behind them. It's more fun to play toons that you've invested some ideas in. So no, I do not roleplay as a girl when I play girl characters, I just play them because I thought of a cool character to make which just so happened to be a girl.

I typically play female avatars in digital games, and male in pen and paper (I'm a male IRL).

I play the female avatars online simply because they tend to look cooler than the male ones.

i always thought it was weird that guys wanted to roleplay a woman, i think of myself to be an very open minded guy but transvestites have always weirded me out, not so much that i don't think of Eddie Izzard to be the worlds funniest man, but it still look sorta weird.

the only time ive ever played as a female character is in a playthrough as an adept in Mass Effect.... mainly to try out the biotic class for the first time... also to set up a playthrough for mass effect 2. but the voice acting was suprisingly very good.. equally on par with male shepards voice.. i also love jennifer hale's voice acting anyone... there were many a times when i was playing mass effect expecting solid snake to sneak behind her and grunting 'NAOMI. but long story short i really enjoyed playing as a female shepard.. but i think its just not as dramatic as male shepards campaign... dont know why though =P

I always make female characters in games like Fallout 3 and such, cause the men are always muscular and annoying, plus noone else ever plays like females.

Id play female in borderlands too if it werent for the classes being tied to gendered characters. Otherwise i'd make a female soldier.

I normally play as a girl in Mass Effect and KotOR because of Jennifer Hale, I love her voice a lot. Other than that I have played as a girl in Fallout and Oblivion, I'm not sure why I did I just did.

Well I have 2 good reasons why I play a fem fatale;

1) I've always found females to fit my playing style, stereotypically of course, as most female RPG characters have higher dexterity, evasion, and magic stats normally.

2) It's always much more satisfying to watch a tiny little lady swing a sword twice her size and still keep up with male dps' hehe.

3) <-- one not so good reason haha. My internets playing buddy for 4 years and I always make "sister" characters, as an example, back in RO, we had a pair of taekwons named Quill and Inke. Super awesome after we hit ranker x3.

I did it in Wow, cause I picked Paladin and I figured I didn't want my guy looking too buff wearing armor, so I went with a chick. A hot chick.

I did it in Pokemon Platinum cause I'll be damned when I raise pokemon wearing a beret.

Boys like girls...

Even pixel girls who are controlled by 20 year old guys.

Oh well, as long as they don't beg for crap or do other stuff like "Hey im a girl look at me look at me" i dont care.
