Agreed.
Though I'm not a fan of Blaziken myself (I liked Torchic, didn't like Combusken or Blaziken, mostly the look, I wished for a devolution method after seeing them), though my Gen III favourites are indeed Gardevoir and Absol (though in the latter case there is currently a rather large clue of that to the left, and also considering how much time I spent on it).

I rather like Empoleon for being a metal penguin and also for having a ridiculously long list of resistances (unless there's one against me, then I hate that fact, damn you Battle Castle!).

I think the first two generations still contain most of my favourites, Lapras, Pikachu (of course), Scyther, Butterfree, Furret, Sneasel (and without Gen IV we wouldn't get Weavile!).
Maybe the reason for that is because that are more readily available in multiple generations? I'm not sure, though in my team in Platinum only ended up with only two Gen IV pokemon (one of them being the evolution of a Gen II).

Of course, it's another pokemon game (with simple-colour-based names, wasn't expecting that!), so it's going to be a blast, and I'm going to refrain myself from seeing any of the new pokemon so it will be that much better.

Five bucks says they're introducing a Light-type.
I'm pretty certain they won't introduce a new type, they only added Dark and Steel to counter Psychic's woefully unbalanced power. (Something immune to & super effective against it and something resistant to it, adding more bug moves with higher power didn't hurt either).

Pfft I remember playing pokemon in black and white year ago, we didn't have any of these new fangled colour whatchamacallits, we took our lack of colour and we liked them. Course back then there where only 150 pokemon.

Damn now I feel old.

Meh, new Pokemon. Everybody knows anything after Gold and Silver was pure blasphemy and just milking the franchise. I mean, they're obviously running out of ideas; those two new pokemon look hardly original, and anything that IS original will just be completely weird. Why can't they just make a fully 3D 1st person pokemon MMO already?
Speak for yourself. DPPt was awesome.

We'd have no Piplup!

I don't wanna live in a world without Piplup!

Lord I hope they actually make an effort to use the technology to be more visually impressive. I'm tired of looking at a still picture flash and warp in shape.

I just like how there's apparently been no innovation in the series - how about the rehaul with physical/special moves? Now types don't just register as physical/special as they always have (Ice always being special, Fighting always being physical), but individual moves use the Attack or Special Attack stat. After playing three generations of games, this blew my mind when it finally connected. Gengar using a fighting move, and using it well? That's madness, and that's quite a bit of innovation to the series mechanics as far as I can see it. That opens up a whole new catalog of strategies I can use, putting Magenezone's high Special Attack stat to good use on types that would have previously used Attack (like Signal Beam or Power Gem).

But... admittedly, if no major changes are made to the series, I'm going to hold off buying the game until the Pokefandom renders me unconscious and I wake up with a copy of the inevitable 3rd game. Which, if it isn't type Grey, will render me unconscious once more xD

My thoughts exactly, the last good pokemon games were gold and silver

Boring name. I'm not very hyped, but when the time comes I'll read the reviews and perhaps I'll get it.

Sounds cool, and I especially like this innovation talk. Can we please have graphics that aren't based on the Game Boy back in 1998? How about removing random battles? Or streamlining the battle system so it doesn't take five minutes to beat a single Tentacool? Also, more Eeveelutions! I want a Steeleon!

By the way, does this mean that Ruby and Sapphire are going to be remade now? Would anybody even care if those games came back?

Everybody knows? Care to explain why people still bought the new versions? I can understand the viewpoint on the new Pokemon; some of their designs are downright retarded. But the gameplay has vastly improved since the 2nd Generation.
WELL DUH COZ PEPLE R STOPID AN THEY SOULDNT BY CRAPPY GAMEZ AND yeah okay, they were still pretty popular. I think it was mostly to do with the fact that it's Pokemon and, y'know, you gotta catch 'em all, right? The prospect of new pokemon adventures is enough to lure any poor sod's money away from him/her. I should know. I'm one of them.

And you're definitely right, the gameplay has vastly improved. Not exactly innovated, though. Still, if a franchise sticks to one particular play-style over the course of four generations, each with about three games per generation (not including remakes, mind), then yeah, they'd better bloody get the gameplay right by then, because they're obviously not putting much effort into shaking it up. So, as I said, I'll be very interested in seeing what these "innovations" are. Hell, if they shake up the formula, it might even be enough to allow me to overlook the stupid new Pokemon designs.

I wonder what the new eevee evolutions will be? It'd be cool to see a Steel version.
I LOVE how they introduced so many different evolutions for Eevee, it's the only Pokemon that reminds me of my beloved Digimon franchise where one Mon could digivolve into multiple paths depending on how its raised. Would be cool to see what else they do with Eeveelutions(though I'll hold out my hopes for the pure Flying-type Zepheon, sick of this Normal/Flying nonsense that removes their resistance to Fighting)

OT: Hard for me not to get excited about a new generation, and while I usually don't care how weird the Pokemon designs look, the names of the versions has me nervous..

So long as you can get at least 16 badges.

After Soulsilver and traveling through 2 areas, just going back to 1 will just seem silly and lame.
This is my exact beef with 3rd gen. Also they removed Morning/Day/Night cycles.

my guess is that we are gonna see a grass type bird and a fire turtle for starting pokemon because we havent seen those combos yet. i mean look youve got piplup and torchic, and youve got turtwig and squirtle. The lizards have already gone through all three starter types with charmander, treecko, and totodile. My guess is that theres gonna be a water monkey.

I doubt the next Gen will beat SoulSilver/HeartGold.They are the definitive pokémon games. At this stage we really don't need any more!

Who am I kidding? I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT! :D
Until then I'll sit with my SoulSilver and hammer in the final nail on my virgin coffin.

Gotta get them DS emulators working...

What we need is to stop making new Pokemon and start allowing players to crossbreed the existing ones into crazy hybrids. I want a Blastizard! Or a...Snorlakazam.

Gyradochu?

I shall await Pokemon: Fluorescent Pink
That brings up a good point. What are they going to call the third version?
Pokemon Grey? Pokemon CMYK? Pokemon Technicolor? Pokemon Low Saturation?
