Ooc: Well to give a time it's a few years after Ash's travels so Jesse, James and Meowth have quit Team Rocket to live in Celadon, in option three they will help out but they'll still be as incompetent as ever. I never planned for them to be long term characters but most of the show's cast will make a cameo by the time we rap this all up.
I'm a big fan of number 3. Celadon and its numerous trainers would be pretty easy to stage the holding the Rocket's off part. Plus Jesse and James are always fun. But maybe could the big battle wait a bit. I think our characters need about three days (post time) R&R. Also, did someone help Joel out of the sewer? His arm is broken, and unless the electric shock woke him up, he was still unconcious.
Ooc: Ahem...executive decision here, Falcon's version of number 3, I'll tell Magnus to edit the getaway when he get's back.
[HEADING=1] Chapter 6: The Coming Storm and a "blast" from the past[/HEADING]
With Joel still knocked out the going was slow until Rodney called forth Chompers to help carry him, within a solid half hour of walking they were on the very outskirts of Celadon.
"Not that much longer to go! we can rest when we get there!" Rodney exclaimed with a second wind and started running ahead, the group followed in the happiest manner a group of dirty,smelly,unwashed trainers who had just been in a horrific battle could be.
"Wartortle, tortle tortle" Follow me guys, I know how to get to Joel's house Ace said with a distinct sadness in his voice. Thank goodness Chompers is strong enough to carry Joel the small turtle pokemon thought to himself.
With Ace leading the way, the group of unwashed, shellshocked trainers were soon approaching a pleasant, mid sized house on the outskirts of Celadon City. A Woman who looked to be in her late forties was running out to meet them, along with a Blastoise and a Golduck.
"Oh my god! What happened to you?" She said, with the worry of a mother in her voice. "Let's get you all inside and cleaned up, and get Joel looked at. I'll call the doctor." The woman, obviously Joel's mom, lead the trainers into the welcoming embrace of the home for showers and explanations.
With Joel still knocked out on the couch, Aari upstairs showering first and Joel's mother preparing dinner for them, against the majority's wishes to not be a burden Rodney, Jeffrey, Brandon and Magnus sat around a small table.
Rodney spoke first, "We have three days at best before the rockets recoup, on that note don't mention anything to Joel's mother until the last day when we will bring them into the city where it is safer. Hopefully Joel will have recovered by then."
There was a sullen silence among the boys, they all knew whatever was coming in three days was not going to be pretty.
Rodney broke the silence again and turned to Brandon saying "I'm sorry for accusing you of being a Rocket, tough times y'know. I'm even more sorry for dragging you into this mess of ours."
"not to worry, i thought you were rockets yourselves then i heard you guys talking about taking them down and so here we are." Brandon said watching Jack and Lilly dance around with the golduck.
Jeffery simply stared at the ceiling whilst leaning back in his hair he glanced magnus coming out of the shower he saw Rodney make a move he did not care he got used to living in his own filth,except now he was living in other people`s filth as well.
"something the matter man" Brandon asked sitting across from jeff.
"I hate kanto" Jeffery quickly replied.
"I`m sorry come again" brandon asked.
"I said I hate kanto, I mean I try to go on a simple vacation enjoy myself and you know what happens full scale war breaks out" Jeffery replied still staring at the ceiling.
Jeffrey's statement caught Magnus a little off-guard.
"You blame Kanto for this?" Magnus asked. "How quaint."
"Excuse me?" Jeffrey asked aggressively. "What do you mean by 'quaint'?"
Magnus smiled and laughed.
"You think that this wouldn't have happened if you had stayed in Sinnoh? You're wrong. The only thing that would have happened differently, would be that you would be alone. Remember, Team Rocket has their tendrils stretched across the globe, spanning not just Kanto, but Johto, Hoenn, and yes... Even Sinnoh. If you hadn't have met us... you would probably have already been killed. Odds are, you would have taken on Rocket by yourself, and lost. Or, you would have been consumed by the storm."
"What exactly are you trying to say Magnus?" Jeffrey asked. "Because I'm all ears..."
"I'm saying... that all of this happened for a reason, and it was bound to happen. You may say that you don't believe in things like fate or destiny, but you cannot deny that there are things in this world that no one understands. Think about this... If you had not have come to Kanto, then you never would have seen Trevor's magic show. If you didn't see the show, you wouldn't have seen him rob that lady, and you never would have chased him down. You never would have met Rodney or Heather... and if you hadn't have met them, then you probably wouldn't have been chasing Trevor, and I would have just continued on my merry way.
We never would have met Joseh, Jared, nor Aari, nor Joel, nor Brandon. You wouldn't have caught Machop... nor Charmeleon... nor Gastly... and Lucario would probably still be a Riolu. And you... you... you would still be in a muck about that Gym Badge...
And you know what would have happened? Nothing... Team Rocket would have taken Pewter, then Viridian and Cerulean... Pallet Town, Cinnabar Island. Goldenrod, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, ALL OF IT!" Magnus was in a fervor, the ferocity in his voice booming at the younger boy.
"Jeffrey, we alone are the ones who have kept the world from falling. We stopped them at Pewter... we stopped them at Cerulean. We kept them from taking other areas while they searched for us. We are the only ones who've been fighting... THE ONLY ONES!" Magnus slammed his fist against the table.
"We've been fighting... and do you know why? Because we're the only ones who want to fight. I don't know why you fight.. nor Rodney, nor Jared. But do you want to know why I fight? I fight... because if I don't... someone else will have to. Frankly, I don't trust my life to someone I've never met. Neither should you... but if you aren't willing to fight a war when the world calls upon you... then maybe you should join the rest of the huddled masses... cowering in fear for what the future holds."
Magnus got up and stormed out of the house, sitting in the backyard and watching the Pokemon. Quillz and Red approached him and sat down next to him, comforting him. Lucario stoof next to Magnus and placed his hand on Magnus's shoulder.
Joel awoke at the smell of his mother's cooking feeling like he'd been hit with a truck and then left to bake in the sun for several hours. He did feel familial hands on his back though. He turned his head and sure enough, Mama Blastoise was rubbing burn gel on his back. He also seemed to have had his clothes changed and he felt clean, liked he'd just showered. Then he was sure, they had made it to his house. His arm hurting from laying on it, he sat up slowly, his back still to the Blastoise who was finishing applying the burn gel.
"Erika's recipe huh?" he said to the giant turtle pokemon even though he already knew the answer.
"Blastoise, blastoise, blastoise," Your friends and your mom have been worried sick over you. I had to take you to the garage and power wash the sewage off of you. the pokemon said, clearly with a motherly tone.
"Joel honey, is that you?" Joel's mom called from the kitchen.
"Yah, and thanks for everything so far. Bet you never thought you'd have to give me a bath again huh?" Joel forced a laugh, the pain in his arm clearly bothering him even though it was in a sling.
Joel made his way to the table where his new friends were sitting. "So, how did it go? It looks like we won, though where is Magnus?" Joel asked, clearly in pain, but not from his rapidly healing back. "Oh well, we chould be safe for a while at least. I'm going to go talk to Erika tomorrow though," Joel said with an air of authority, "any of you are willing to come with me. I think she could be a powerful ally in our current situation."
Erika's burn heal. Works on pokemon and people. Really, with some of these meds they have in the pokemon universe, is it too far of a stretch to think that they would have an instant burn healing gel for people too?
Seeing Magnus give Jeffry the pep speech of his life reminded him that his parents didn't know that he had left. "Excuse me" He said asking Joels mom "but where's the phone, I need to call my folks and let them know whats going on." She pointed to the wireless phone next to the couch "Thank you." He picking up the phone and dialed his home phone number and walked into another room. When he heard a quivering female voice on the end of the line saying "H-h-hello" he knew his mom had been crying. "Mom, it's me" He then heard a gasp and a calling of "Honey, it's Brandon! Where are you Brandon, we've been so worried?"
"Don't worry mom I'm in Celedon. I'll be home in a few weeks, Me and a group of friends have some things to take care of around kanto. Oh and Mom don't worry about the rockets in town any more just don't cross their path and they will be out of Saffron before you can say Adue(?)"
" OK, Honey just be careful and come home safely"
"OK, Mom I will. I love you bye. And say hi to Dad and Lindsy for me."
Hanging up the phone Brandon decided to go lay down for a little bit telling Jeff this he goes and lies down in the guest room where he out his things.
Jack and Lilly's personalities
Jack is much like Lucario, head strong and proud and has picked Brandon's' silence
Lilly is also silent but is shy but when angry is as active as jack.
Rodney almost tackled Joel in the attempt to shush him, "Don't say anything" Rodney said to which Joel only replied "But-" before Rodney continued "I'm not sure if you heard Magnus's little talk to Jeffrey but we are the only ones willing to fight, even if there are others then we don't want to get them hurt."
Rodney had underestimated the Mother and Pokemon's hearing they returned in unison saying "Is that so?" and "Blasta?" in perfect timing together.
With Jared up in the shower Jeffrey and Rodney were the only ones left to shower, Rodney made the most of his predicament and let out his new Grimer which he promptly named Goo after the stinking trail of it the pokemon left wherever it walked. He also discovered the pokemon was a pretty good battler and preferred ranged attacks.
Rodney asked if someone could go get them all new clothes just incase there were Rockets in the city that might recognise them. As Rodney finished showering he saw the clothes left out for him- A red and white cap with a stange green symbol, A black T-shirt, A short-sleeve blue jacket with yellowy-gold trim, dark green gloves with lime green trim, Jeans and Sneakers.
Ofcourse now he had to do the one thing he dreaded more then anything, he picked up the phone dialed a number and said ".....Mum?"...
OoC: Get the clothing joke/partial plot device thing? Oh and Rodney is reluctant to speak to his family because of the shit they've done and might have to do.
Jeffery continued leaning back in his chair thinking about what magnus said.
"the only ones,the only ones,the only ones" Jeffery repeatedly muttered to himself staring at the ceiling but his train of thought was interrupted when he smelled something horrible he looked down and saw Rodney`s grimer sliding along the floor he held his nose and started waving away the stench.
"Rodney you might not be able to smell it but your grimer-" Jeffery looked around to see if Joel`s mom was anywhere near by "fucking stinks would you please put him back in his pokeball before I vomit" Jeffery said but Rodney did not respond he was too busy calling someone Jeffery stayed quiet and began to listen in wondering who he was calling.
Joel, noticing the "Oh really" coming from his mother and Blastoise, tells his mom that the rest of the group doesn't know about Celadon City.
"Their are lots of trainers here willing to fight and they have every right to decide for themselves whether it's worth the risk. The Rockets have caught everywhere else off gaurd and many people were not given a chance to fight," said Joel, slightly annoyed at the implications made by Magnus, "that's why I'm going to see Erika tomorrow. I know my mom and dad are willing to fight for pokemon everywhere and I'm 99.9% certain that the trainers at Erika's gym are willing as well. They just need to be given a chance to be heroes."
Man, I hope my character's trust is correctly placed
Since I'm having a bit of a block for Magnus's point of view...
Red curled up against Magnus's arm, trying to calm him down.
"Quil, Cyndaquil" Come on... don't be so sad. Magnus patted the Cyndaquil on the head, reassuring the Pokemon that everything was alright. Quillz nudged her child to go and play, leaving Magnus to her.
Red was having fun rolling about in the backyard with the other Pokemon. Angus and Daisy were standing together, munching on some grass. Speedy and Scout were racing each other. Quake and Nicky were having a discussion, and Reynard and Sparks were watching the Speedy and Scout race.
Out of the long grass popped a yellow bell-shaped head. A little Bellsprout had wandered into the yard, looking for trouble. It noticed the small Cyndaquil playing outside with a Togepi. This particular Bellsprout hated Fire-types... having once been almost eaten by a hungry Flareon. Acting on its dislike of Fire-Types, the Bellsprout shot a Bullet Seed at the back of Red's head.
"OW!" Red yelped... "Who did that?" Red saw the snickering Bellsprout in the bushes.
"I did." It taunted smugly.
"You should apologize. That wasn't nice."
"Make me. Hothead. Hehehe..." The Bellsprout taunted Red, making him start to cry.
"Why don't you make him apologize?" Reynard came up and said to Red.
"What do you mean? How can I?" Red whimpered.
"You know Ember right? Use it."
"You mean... Battle?"
"Yeah, show that little seed-spitter who's boss!"
"I will!" The little Cyndaquil got a look of determination it its eyes... or it would if you could see its eyes.
"Hey Bellsprout!" Red shouted.
"Yeah, what is it?" The Bellsprout responded. Once it turned its head, it was met by a barrage of Embers headed right at it. The Bellsprout passed out from the fire, and collapsed on the ground.
"You're not nice!" Red responded, with a smile on his face.
"Pretty good, kid." Reynard commented. "Stick with me, and you'll get even better."
"Thanks!"
"No problem..." Reynard winked at the little Pokemon. "It'll be fun."
Magnus saw Red totally own the Bellsprout who spat at him. He smiled at the spectacle and got up. Magnus walked back inside... he had cooled off and was no longer upset. He opened the door and stepped inside, walking through the kitchen into the living room. He saw that almost everyone had showered and was changed into their new clothes. He saw the outfit left out for him and decided he would wear them tomorrow, when they went into the city. He saw Rodney in the living room, talking to a woman whom Magnus assumed was the boy's mother.
He saw what Rodney was wearing and did a double-take.
That's definately an... interesting... outfit. Magnus thought to himself. Rodney is able to pull it off, though.
He could tell that Rodney was at unease talking to his family. He did not know why Rodney was so reluctant... but Magnus could tell by the boy's demeanor that he was very tense and uncomfortable.
I wonder why he isn't so excited to be talking to his family... It must've been something tha- Magnus's thought was cut short by a vibrating on the table, his cell phone. He opened it up and saw that he had gotten a text-message from his brother Maddox. It said,
'Mag, g3t 2 a v1d fone. N3d 2 tlk 2 u.'
Magnus sent a quick text to his brother in reply.
'Mad, h/o. B @ 1 soon. Kthxlol, bai.'
He sat down, out of earshot of Rodney's conversation.
Jared was spent, even after the shower, he hadn't done that much running in a while. Joel's mom was a great host though, and the prospect of a homecooked meal was very appealing to him. It had seemed like forever since he left his parent's house, and man can not live on ramen and BBQ'd meat alone. It would be a welcome change.
He went outside where the other Pokemon were gathering, most of his team were outside, however the newest member of his team had yet to make an appearance. He let Shel out into the nearby pond.
"SHELL-SHELL"This pond isn't very big.
"I know, but it's the best we can do right now, especially considering we're on the run. When we get to Fuchsia or Vermillion, I'll let you go in the ocean, OK?"
"SHELLDER, SHELL"You better! I'm making due here!
"I will, don't worry," Jared walked back over to the house. With the little time they had in the city, he was hoping to see the sites, hit up the massive store, maybe play a few slots, but with the situation they found themselves in, it didn't look like there was time for that.
"Your Shelder requires quite the pond doesn't he?" Jared heard a voice behind him say. An older man who looked a lot like Joel, but with greying hair and a light beard was approaching, the Golduck who had run to meet them yesterday. "Golduck and Blastoise seem to get along fine in that little pool, though to tell you the truth," the man got in close, "you should take the little one to see Erika tomorrow. She has a large indoor lake that water pokemon love."
The man smiled and extended his hand to Jared, "My name is Joel Sr., what's yours? I am assuming you're one of Juniors new friends."
