Any parent that ever, outside of some contrived moral dilemma, says it's okay for someone to taser their 10 year old should not be a parent.

It's undoubtedly the mother's fault the child was like that in the first place.

I'd change that to any parent who needs to use another authority fiugure other than themselves to control their little brat shouldn't be a parent

officers don't need parent's permission to taser an unruly civilian. Regardless of the woman's poor parenting, the cop obviously felt it was necissary

And it depends, if the child was going too crazy to contain at all, then I don't see why they shouldn't have used the taser.

Quite honestly, if I were in the situation, I would do the same thing. How the hell else am I supposed to contain a friggin' (rampant, I don't mean a normal happy 10 year old) 10 year old? Use harsh language? Punch her in the face?

The parent could very well be retarded, but there's the chance there's actually a reason for calling the cops..even though 'not getting in the shower' is pushing it..

A story:
When I was 10, I fought off 4 orderlies to avoid getting what I deemed an unnecessary injection of penicillin. These were men trained to do exactly what the cop is being condemned for failing to abide. There is no doubt in my mind that my behavior at the time was inappropriate, and the punishment I received of becoming violently ill for weeks certainly taught a lesson I never forgot. Upon reflection, I would have preferred being tazed.

It's not that were were stronger, its simply that they didn't want to hurt you. Also while chimps may be smaller, they a MUCH MUCH stronger, something a 10 year old lacks.

Using a tazer is probably overkill in this situation. But what were they gonna do? Shoot her with a tranq gun? Gassed her? Smack with a club? The kid was acting like an animal, I think the police were justified to defend themselves especially since she attacked them. But her mum is clearly a ***** who can't raise a decent child...

If she had grabbed a kitchen knife and went for the cop then it would absolutely justified. Cops don't put themselves in harms way for fun, they have every right to incapacitate someone who is threatning either his or somebody else's life. Now it would be tragic if it came down to it but you couldn't fault the cop for thinking their life or mine...

Clearly the cop needs training on how to deal with cases like this without resorting to such extreme measures but it was probably the most effective, non-lethal and caused the least injury to the girl. I wouldn't call him a hero or anything but I think he did the right thing given the options she gave him.

Instances like this will become more common if would-be-do-folder laws like no spanking etc become common place. Kids today are practically rabid compared to 50 years ago. I'm quite a liberal person but this kind of warped liberal thinking is making things worse...
