I think everyone is missing the point of the article, that was the cop said he didn't want to restrain her with handcuffs because he was concerned he may break an arm or something. Imagine that; they go to hold her down and use cuffs and she comes away seriously injured. Really, i'd much rather the quick jolt and no permanent damage than having something serious happen to the girl because the police wanted to be 'morally correct'.

In all seriousness, it's the mother's fault for allowing the child to be so unruly in the first place, there must have been signs of ADHD or some kind of disorder and this should have been addressed IMMEDIATELY. That shit affects kids through to their adult years.

I would say it was atrocious she even decided to call the police at all, but with no husband it may be difficult to get the child to calm down if she was throwing a tantrum for over an hour and possibly being violent toward the mother. I did absolutely burst out laughing at the fact the CHILD IS FACING DISORDERLY CONDUCT CHARGES. WHAT THE FUCK?

So it's okay for police to use a taser on a 10 year old, but if a parent spanks their child people call DSS. That makes perfect logical sense.

Can we really justify the pain in the nuts compared to the pain from a professionally delivered taser shot? :|

Bad mother, Bad kid, Bad policeman.
10 year olds could probably survive a quick taser like anyone else though.

looks like a stun gun rather than a tazer in the picture

bottom line:

the parent should beat her child more.

well the girl was a one person roit and i think a quick tase is better than being arrested for assulting an officer. even is she is ten

This; while I agree that, in normal circumstances it would be too much, there is something fndamentally wrong with this child.
Yeah, the parents.

That said, I think the highlight of the story is that a fully grown police officer couldn't restrain a 10 year old girl.

GG.

I think this kind of situation is more acceptable in America, where casual violence is more acceptable then England. So obviously, my opinion is based on if such a thing happened in my country.

I'd say that any moron that's dumb enough to taser a ten year old, regardless of if they saught authority from the girl's mothers, the police commissioner or God himself needs to be locked up. Allowing somebody with such a startling lack of problem solving skills shouldn't be trusted with a spoon, let alone an assortment of weapons.

As for the mother allowing her kid to be tasered, I'd argue that somebody who teaches a child at an early age that violence is a solution to your problems (especially when somebody isn't doing what you ask them) isn't an ideal candidate for motherhood. The child was throwing a fit, not pointing a gun to somebody's face. Nobody was in danger, she wasn't damaging any property, she didn't deserve a taser.

really? she's ten. how can we expect you to restrain a 250 lb. thug when the time comes? Ozark's finest clearly don't get much action.
They could use a Tazer.

Crap parenting, but I see why he used the taser - under assault from someone. Depends just how violent and whatnot she was whether the age factor should some onto it.

Its a 10 year old. What kind of damage can she possibly do to a fully trained cop?
If you are a girl, you wouldn't know. If you are a guy, you should know.
Cops where protection under their clothes.
Maybe when dealing with more than a 10 year old, but really, either way, she needs to learn to leave the nuts alone. That hurts. Alot.
It does, but if a10 year old can get that kind of cheap shot in then you suck at being a cop.

Let me recap, he failed to subdue a 10 year old girl, got kicked in the crotch and had to use his taser. FAIL
Did you read the article? He said that it was a short jolt to the back. It's not like he shocked her for a minute. He could have broken her arm or leg trying to cuff her. Which is better?
Let the parent known its not his job to discipline the kid for starters.
