It made most peoples short list for game of the year and manage to win in a couple; most well known being X Plays game of the year. Also the game sold quite well

Anyway for me personally it was Fallout 3. i wanted this game to be sooo good and to me it justy was not. I loved oblivion and hated Fallout 3. Also GTA for me was soooo overrated. But again this is just personal preference and i have never liked any GTA game so i guess its only right that i would not like this game.

Took the brilliant melee, dumbed down the move sets, dumbed down the levels, slowed the game down and altered the mechanics in a million subtle yet damaging ways. Certainly there is a lot more content, but the game doesn't play very well anymore.

Nice work Nintendo, you managed to break the greatest fighting game ever.
I agree except Nintendo had nothing to do with the making of Brawl. Sora LTD made it.
I was also dissapointed in the fact they took away characters and basically gave us replacements, that weren't too good.

I see this poll is on 2008's most overrated game. So, why isn't Call of Duty : World at War on there? Don't get me wrong. It's ok, however when you get down to it, it's nothing more than a crippled COD4 expansion which is only JUST entertaining and far too easy to complete. Also uninspired. Not jaded, I just really wish developers would stop churning out WWII bullshit. We get it. It was terrible. Time to move on and make a game thats FUN.

However Nazi Zombie Mode was a welcome bonus...

I was torn between No More Heros and LBP. I decided to hit NMH because that game just put me off fully and I couldn't even tell why. I hate when it happens but I went with my gut. I tried it over and over and i would just leave. As for LBP for who it targeted it was fine (I Guess) but as a whole ick on the high rate scale.
I don't see HOW no more heroes can be considered overrated. It was released with little fanfare. It didn't sell particularly well. It was generally well received by the reviewer community but the same can be said of most any game that approaches playable. It doesn't really matter what you thought about the game - the fact that it wasn't hyped means it's difficult to call it overrated.

LBP was a pretty overrated game, seemed like a lot of people got the wrong impression that it was going to be overly amazing and found it to be a next-gen Mario.
As in the greatest games of all time Mario?

I'm going with GTAIV because it bored me to death and I haven't played Gears of War 2 yet.
That's the last time I let everyone else's excitement get to me, that's for sure.

Fallout 3. I just felt that it tried to go in too many directions at once. Perhaps a bit more focus or development time would have helped.

Quick opinion on most of the games above.
Fable 2: The first one was way to easier, so they made it easier, stupider, and much more boring with jobs and no boss fights. Good job Peter. You took something that was OK, and made it crap. Traded it in a week later to get Left 4 Dead.

MGS4: Basically brought closure to the series, but too much of it. And Old snake looked like a retired porn star. Overall, fun game.

GTA4: I didn't like gta too much anyway (I'm more of a competitive person instead of faffing about in a city) And then forcing you do stupid shit like talking to your cousin, or going out to the movies just to maintain your friend ship with someone in game, and shit that doesn't involve killing retarded old ladies that can't dodge your car.

SSBB: It still basically the same, they just made it easier for everyone to play. Instead of mesmerizing how to time wave dashing just to run a bit faster, or have edge hog timing down to fractions of seconds. It allows a wider audience to get a feel for the game (although the game is basiclly zoning + footies and thats about it). I like the inclusive feel, its a step in the right direction. Its what Street fighter HD remix did, but sthd did it much much better. Imho, Stdhr is the best fighting game of 2008.

All y'all who voted for GTA4-I hate you. I happen to be playing through it for the third time in anticipation of the DLC, and enjoying it immensely.

I voted Fable 2 since everyone was saying how amazing it was going to be, and from what I hear it did not meet those expectations.

GTA4. Unlikable protagonist, dull depressing setting and story, Sticky cover and lock on system, sluggish vehicle controls, no incentive to participate in the sandbox aspect of the game. I know that I keep harping on that game but it was the worst 60 dollars I ever spent.

I say Fable 2, I HATE THAT GAME, everything in knothole island should have been in the game to begin with, mainly the bloody body armor, which you cannot dye I might add.

The two games which I'd vote for aren't on the list, which would be Call of Duty:WaW and Mirror's Edge. Someone said that ME wasn't hyped so it shouldn't have made the list, but all I remember was that it was everywhere. The promotion department made three animated trailers (which I worked on) which didn't use the gaming engine and covered the IMAX cinema in London with a 60ft banner of Faith. Every newspaper had a preview or review in it and the Metro had a full front page cover ad. To say it wasn't hyped, at least in the UK, is wrong. I finally played the game a few weeks later and I've never had a chance to more appropriately use the term 'meh' before. Glossy dross from start to finish.

WaW was just such a let down after COD4, which I still think is the best fps I've ever played in either single or multiplayer. I can only gawp in astounded silence at Activision's decision to give the game development to Treyarch, surely the biggest waste of a game's reputation ever. When I saw the trailer for the first time I felt a bit like when I watched the trailer for Star Wars 1. Alas, I temporarily forgot how disappointed I was by that bus crash, or I would have reserved my expectations a little instead of salivating till xmas day like a bloodhound outside an Angus Steakhouse.
