Maybe this will give the mum the kick up the arse she needs. They don't really specify what sort of mother she is apart from the beauty treatment, so I don't know if putting her into foster care was the best idea.

It's not just the botox, but the fact she taught her daughter basically, "You won't succeed in life if you're unattractive." I think she's just living out her dream through her child.
Self worth should not be about what you look like, that's a disgusting lesson to teach children and is usually the reason behind bullies.

You can be ambivalent about whether giving Botox to a 6 year old is ok. This is a legal use of the drug.

But consider this from the article:

THIS PART is not acceptable. You are getting prescription from an unaccredited source, and then giving it to an untrained person. I'm surprised no one has addressed this portion of the crime in any meaningful way. Any person supplying drugs illegally in this way needs to be found, and proscecuted.

Many people may forget that Botox is a contraction of "Botulism Toxin".

I can sympathise with women of a certain age (not 8, think 5 times older) who might take some steps to reduce wrinkles because society does set what I think is an unreasonable standard on women. Men can have a few wrinkles and be seen as sexy (Pierce Brosnan you devil you).

It's clear this obsession with smooth skin has defied all reason or objectivity if it favours a paralysed face.

One thing I find most attractive about a woman is a warm and genuine smile... even if with some laughter lines.

This injecting into children is the ultimate extreme, losing all track of what beauty actually is. Beauty is not skin deep, remember that 50-impressions video, how feminine that guy looked just by acting like a girl and lip syncing with a woman... he switched from looking like Seth Roegen to more like Winona Ryder with a stick-on beard!

You shouldn't be injecting that into a child...or anyone, really.

Yes, I understand everything that's wrong with that...but then, I find hair to be the most attractive thing about men, too. All about the hair. (For some reason, people with certain personalities keep their hair a certain way...so technically I like their personality? It's a strange subject.) Clearly, this was irresponsible at best.

But I believe botox has been successful as a pain relief for certain kinds of severe, persistent headaches, so there probably are situations where using it on a child is justifiable.

Botox is a poison, injecting your children with it is seriously disturbed. Parent is a moron, especially bearing in mind that botox is a temporary solution to wrinkles in old people who have lost the elasticity of their skin. Injecting poison that effectively causes the skin to swell to hide wrinkles will in fact obviously cause much more serious damage over time but end up to stretching the skin and ruining its elasticity in other words pre-emptively ageing the kid.
That parent was seriously wrong on moral grounds, but i cant help but think it could have been avoided if she read more or had consulted a doctor about the basic biological principles on what she was doing >.<.
if theres any one worring about their looks out there there is NO substitute for the following for maintaining your looks.
Exercise, healthy balanced diet, and sunscreen.

The only reason the kid WANTED botox in the first place is because the mother has created these insecurities about her looks in her. Fucking fat ***** couldn't be a beauty queen so her 8 year old daughter has to be at any cost... that's child abuse, pure and simple. Keep her away and never let her back.

It's not illegal to take your child to the beach. It is illegal to drown them there. Giving a misbehaving child a minor spank won't even get you a fine. Beating them into the ER will land you in jail. It's all in the context.
