If I were more heavily into online pay than I am, I think I would pay for this. Team Fortress 2 is way more fun when you have a bunch of more mature people (older doesn't equal mature, but it sure does correlate strongly). I wouldn't have a problem with this becoming an option.

I'm 18 and it makes me feel really old when I hear those whiney little voices in game chat.
Being called a "little *****" by some 12 year old whose voice is the same as Bieber's is just not cool.
OT: I wouldn't pay for it, because I shouldn't have to put up with it in the first place, 12 year olds should not be playing Left 4 Dead, end of.

I find that children are no more likely to be dicks on Xbox live than adults, to be honest. If it had some kind of universal douche-bag screening test then I might be interested, but it would have to be extremely cheap to compete with the completely free mute button. I'd also have to play more multi-player games to consider it, I suppose.
Hell I am more inclined to play with kids because they are less douchy. I can't count how many times I have heard a high pitched voice come over the mic saying look I am a kid please don't boot me and then they act respectful enough that they can be fun to play with. I swear the kid singing over the mic is a myth at this point. Or a conspiracy by adults to get kids booted because of the shame the grown ups feel because they got their asses handed to them by a squeaker.

I'm torn. I'd say yes, but I would rather see MS split XBL into 2 online access tracks, one for everyone, and one just for adults who can prove they're over 25. I don't know if that's even feasible. But the constancy and prevalence of this question in forum topics means it is a need they should address, sooner rather than later. There's a reason I avoid most multiplayer. I should say, however, that I have met nice folks and d-bags of all ages on XBL, so I don't know if this is but a partial solution.

No. NO WAY IN HELL ARE YOU LEAVING ME WITH THE REST OF THE CHILDREN. I act normally dammit. I deserve to play with actual people.

If I'm actually playing with friends or people I know, then yea- headset, mic and everyone heard- if not. Mute All.

Great feature. Use it more.

No. I'm a cheap-skate. On top of that, the moment I start thinking games would be better without kids is the day I stop playing games since I've obviously forgotten what a game is really is. Not to mention that verifying that the people within the group are the porper age would probibly be a pain.

Hmm. Online that's full of little kids somewhere that I never seem to end up or a barren wasteland of inactive servers.
I honestly don't get the hate on kids online, most that I have played with are bearable, and I don't meet a lot of them in general. Or I don't meet a lot of them that claim to be or make me assume they're kids.

No because you'd only be furthur be separating the player base.
Say i and 50% of adults couldnt afford to pay the extra money, and 50% could and did.
Then you'd end up with games where you'd have much smaller numbers of only adult games, along with an increasing proportion of children in the games with the adults.

So you're not really improving the experiance for anyone.

I never encounter loud children on XBL. Most people don't even use their mics.
Besides, I actually think a little bit and press the mute.

If we're assuming that it was 100% foolproof and no kid would be able to abuse the system through some loophole (using this as a hypothesis not a realistic scenario), then yes, i would. I hate kids. Even if they're not being pricks, i just don't like them. I don't like listening to them, i don't like being around them. Put in the nicest way possible, of course.
Your not a family person then?

I would pay extra to game with smart robots on my team against players instead of a bunch of children-adults who enjoy ruining the game for me.

oh cough (mute button) cough.

As its been stated....

Most of the players are still the same level of annoying as the racist child screaming the n word as the grown adult claiming to be the developers son and teh best nubslayr evah

Mute...is Free...

Pick Johnny Racist and Fratboy Jones and Mute his ass and then file a complaint/block him.

Nah, mute works fine. I am 19 and whenever I have played online I have played with my age group mostly and usually they're not much more mature than these screaming twelve year olds you speak of. In fact, I have never actually heard that much bad stuff but then again I have ps3 and I feel that there are more mature people on PSN (not trying to sound like a fanboy, it's just based on what I've seen; everytime I played Xbox there were always jackasses, just not 12 year olds). Also, I don't play call of duty or any other popular FPS so I guess I am not the best person to ask but I still stand by what other posters have said: mute works just fine

No. Because stupid parents will gladly go through whatever hoops they have to to make their wonderful children happy. I haven't seen ANYTHING internet-wise that separates children from adults effectively without relying on parental control (which a lot of parents gladly give up) or honesty (which seems to be a dirty word among young children and anyone between 12 and 18.)

While I would be tempted by a service specifically designed to separate gamers by age groups (note: not just to separate myself from children), I would only be interested if it actually worked.

@Captcha: Figure mblina? Now I'm convinced you're just making shit up.

Not a chance. They suck.

It's free kills and that mute option is surprisingly easy to use.

Not really to be honest. I was at a pub once and there was this family with like 3 kids, all of them running around screaming and making noise. Really pissed me off and the manager eventually had to have a word with the father since none of them did anything about their loud irritating kids. Kids unsupervised (even superficial supervision is preferable to none at all) are much worse, which is what you get with xbox live.

I do tend to mute everyone, but at the same time sometimes i enjoy a little mature banter. I've made friends just randomly chatting about some new game or trailer before after all, so i shouldn't be forced to mute everyone just because i want to avoid the kids. It's restricting my experience and it's an inconvenience, but you get used to it i suppose.

Paying for intelligent AI ain't a bad idea...

But, you know. Skynet.

I voted yes, but what I meant was, I'd pay for the option, I've no problem with playing games online with kids, even the annoying ones, hell I find them funny sometimes, but there are times when I'm just not in the mood, so yeah I'd pay extra to have the option, although since I only have a PS3 these days, I'm not sure how that would work
