You don't need to worry about the world up and snuffing it because the Mayans said so hundreds of years ago.
What you DO need to worry about is the massive solar storms of 2011 that may have the power to knock out all of the electrical grids on the planet, because that it grounded in solid scientific fact.

Great we get the Olympics and the worlds going to end, I jinxed it I said when they were deciding on who will get the Olympics "It will be the end of the world when we get it"*.

I believe it was Nostradamus who came up with the theory of the end of the world, to be honest I think it's bullshit and if it isn't well I doubt it's going to haunt me for long.

The only thing what could happen is a mass panic. So all you need to be ready for is stupid people going a bit mad, so pack some heat that day. I am.
Short of a super-volcano going off, I can't see how we could possibly trigger an event leading to the extinction of the human race by 2012. Diplomacy and global warming haven't got THAT bad yet. I'd give us until 2030 at least, and even that's stretching things. Personally I believe we'll still be here next century, most probably, we'll still be here next millennium.
Assuming the world will end and you will inevitably die, why worry about it? You have no choice, no hope, you may as well just enjoy what life you have left and not worry about it right? That being said, it's a load of crap, people always predict the end of humanity. It's going to happen eventually anyway, the sun will eventually kill us, and if it somehow doesn't, anothr star likely will and even if not that, everything is fucked anyway because the universe is pulling itself appart.
And if we've survived that long then, given the explosion of technology we've produced in just 100-150 years, I'd say that we'll be a long, long way from the sun and failing to give a shit.Eatbrainz said:

If you believe or not, worrying will not help the outcome. Why waste one's idle time worrying about what could happen in three years when you could be worrying about getting hit by a bus tomorrow instead?

On the topic of 2012, not only is there no scientific evidence, there's no anything evidence. So the Mayan calender stopped. Ok. For all we know, there's another 500 years of predictions chiseled and hidden, or maybe they just stopped because they were only human.
The 21st of december 2012 will be just another day of frantic last minute Christmas shopping, the world will not end. But even if it does, every one will be to busy wrapping presents to notice.
