Here you go!
Actually, I think that theory number 3 is most likely. I know.

You fools the world ended in 2000. We're in hell/heaven now, but are can't notice it...

I only saw collage humor 2012 orgy version so I'm all for that.

I wouldn't be worried good sir, the odds are pretty infintesimal of anything happening. Then again, anything could happen any day. Hell, you're more likely to get killed by a falling plane part than a shark, but people don't worry about such things whilst walking out in the open.

Saying this, I plan to be in the mountains, probably intoxicated, with my closest friends when that special date rolls around. So, if there is severe flooding or ridiculous weather, I should be okay. If not? I'll be enjoying myself right dandy-like. ^^

It's a 'big deal' because the Mayan Calendar (which is strikingly accurate, all things considered) ends in 2012.

All rational thought points the fact they just stopped caring and said the calendar ends at 2012.

Keep in mind they did this 500 years ago.

And they were expecting to be able to continue it, until the Spaniards stuck their noses in things.

Also, the chances of anything cataclysmic happening in 2012 is exactly the same as every other year.

And we've been going about 60,000,000 years so far without something really bad happening.

So I think we're pretty safe.

The world will most likely end when the expansion of the universe causes the molecular bonds holding atoms together to dissolve. The thought is scary, but I'm more interested than scared. Ovbiously this will be a very slow process, but at what point could a person not survive anymore? Will everything get spongey and springy?

If I may offer something of a more comforting nature:

?There is no such thing as death. In nature nothing dies. From each sad remnant of decay, some forms of life arise.? - Charles Mackay
Sorry mate, the sun is going to explode an immeasurable (trillions of trillions of trillions of... You get the picture) amount of time before that happens.

And we'll be long gone before that happens.

People thought the exact same thing coming up to AD 1000. All they got was Romanesque art. I don't think there is much to worry about.

These theories fail very much, infact I recently read an article about it which I recommened you read
Whoo! Another Cracked fan. That's kind of a rarity on this site for some reason.
Cracked rules! :D But I must the say, I prefer the escapist.
It's actually a neck and neck battle for my third favourite website between Cracked and The Escapist. But I love both of these sites a great deal.
Third? What are the first two?
IMDB and XKCD. IMDB keeps me from going insane and helps keep track of the movies I've seen (about 1450 in the last 4 years, I have no life) and XKCD adds simple yet hilarious comics 3 times a week. Then in order: Escapist, Cracked, Facebook, VGcats. Yours?
Escapist, Cracked, IMDB or Rotten tomatoes are probably my favourite. I can't really think of any other website I chill on for hours other than these.

No-one can predict the end of the world, it could end tomorrow or in a million years. So my answer is NO. And you have to be an absolute idiot to think it will

Yes, the myna calender will end. That means the world is going to end, the same way it does every time the Gregorian calender ends. Remember last year when the world ended on December 31 at midnight? Yeah, that was great and the year before that, that was super.

In short, no nothing will happen during 2012. Unless of course Jesus like the mynas, then the second coming might be on that day.

I've never been to Rotten Tomatoes before. How much different than IMDB is it? All I know about RT is that it uses user reviews to determine score as opposed to IMDB's voting/popularity contest system.

Quite a few people just say it's better than IMDB but I like using both, they're pretty alike but rotten tomatoes gets all the reviews from the internet and bases the rating on that rather than user reviews.

If you want a laugh, compare the scores of movies from the two sites. You will find that RT's scores are consistently lower than those of IMDB. The only movies that rate higher on RT are crappy kids movies (like Beverly Hills Chihuahua) and Quarantine for some reason.

meh, I use both for everything, IMO it's just personal preference to what you want to use.

Fair enough. To each their own I guess.
