I'm a petitioner in America; trying to put an issue on the ballot in Ohio. Basically- Factory farms should be fined if we have another dog food recall (tainted dog food killed some of our pets recently in our state, much like many of the products Wall-Mart has to offer). People might as well assume my skin is made of acid before they give me the time of day. If it's not a constant barrage of no's, it's people kicking me off of private property, stating "it's not ok with corporate to solicit" to which I reply- "Freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petition". The 1st amendment grants me the right to petition, yet where the people assemble is now considered private property (in the facility of any business or practice thereof). I've even been kicked off a BMV lot, which last time I checked was government property, argo I pay taxes for such a place to operate. I'm not going to deny my own bias when I say Capitalism is failing! It's a system built to spill. Before we place blame on anyone, shall we rebel for our own sake? Political science is a major; a study you must practice to understand. Do we the people really know what's going on anymore? No! So we let the rest of the world peg us for ignoramuses. Thomas Jefferson once wrote "Never spend your money before you have it", which has clearly been done by people you and I shall never know and now we pay the price. Like the generation before us who violently opposed the war in Vietnam (which this war on terrorism has just surpassed in time committed) , we should protest if we feel the need to be! The time to collect ourselves (republican or democrat) has risen. Apathy is not acceptable. We need to speak up! My name is Chris Gerrard, and I'm ready to challenge the powers that be. We can make a solution happen, opposed to waiting for it by people who do not represent us as Americans!

This topic is crazy, I don't know what the fuck is going on, it's a HUGE wall of text, I have no idea whats supposed to be discussed, it's like when those people call you and start screaming into your ear about politics.

Obviously, I chose -I'm too confused to answer-

I voted "we're all fucked." It seemed appropriate.
Just to be clear, there was no apostrophe in that option. Which makes it sound like it's implying "(we) were all fucked; now we're pretty okay".

Or am I just reading too much into a typo...

This is like every "crazy hippie protest" caricature had a child and smoked and drank during the pregnancy. Relatively harmless subject? Check. Crying "freedom of speech"? Check. Unsolicited attack on capitalism? Check. Rampant doomsaying? Double-check. Historical quote put in a ludicrously out-of-place context? Check. Geez, might as well claim you're from Berkeley and extol the virtues of marijuana. And to actually answer your question, no, I do not believe an entire nation can go down the tubes because a lone protester was kicked off of private property for presumably harassing paying customers.

Political debate on the internet!

Nothing could POSSIBLY go wrong here!

Many things could and should go wrong. I'm not the only one one whose upset with the events in America right now. This oil spill has put friends of mine out of work indefinitely. I don't care to play the blame game, but we all need to speak out against the people that made it so. People whose names and identities will never be known. Just know: if they put me on a list- this is why.

All I can say is "eh".

All the USA would-be presidents, that got the elected or at least got a good amount of votes, for the past decade were complete dipshits in my opinion.

Bush Junior, no comment. I fucking hate the guy, most things he did in the office, Patriot Act, the whole war malarchy, his obvious attempts to bring religion into politics (just listen to some of that ol' tard's speeches) and ban on stem cell research included. McCain and Palin, the same deal practically.

Obama seemed like the lesser shithead out of the people in 2008 election, but given some of his questionable actions lately I doubt it. Of course, on the other hand, anything is good as long as it means keeping people like Palin or McCain from power.

Considering how much support a lot of these shitheads got, it kind of makes you understand that the real problem is the average citizen. Seriously, what the fuck, USA? You've got one of the best constitutions in the world, and a pretty awesome country, and you fuck it up like that?

Democracy isn't worth shit when what seems like a vocal majority (I know, this might be an overstatement, but hyperbole's work.) are people who stand for ideas like creationism and would rather pray instead of taking the matter into their own hands and actually doing shit that could help them.

Try English apathy, turns out it's only the bigots who can be bothered to vote.

Our government is now called "ConDem", which phonetically is "Condemn". We're a CondemnNation, or Condemnation. This is because of English apathy.
