Surprisingly, I am a fan of anime (or use) but I haven't ever posted on Anime forum before (although I browsed a few before).

Actually, I changed my mind. It would be a good way to find stuff that your interested in. The reason why I didn't watch much anime before was because I couldn't find one that I was interested in (That, and spiky hair, but for an interesting story, I could get over that) and it seems like a good way to get people interested in something that they didn't even know they were interested in.

I'm personally a modest fan of good, SHORT anime. Anything more than 26 episodes is pushing it too far. I hate overused plots, witch is almost what anime is about, unfortuantely.

Ever watched Trigun or Samurai Seven? They were both 26 episodes I think, vastly different styles.

I'd like to see one. But it would be like the other forums, if I'm interested in the topics I'll post, if not, then I won't.

that's exactly what I am, personally I think 12 episodes (5 1/2 hours) is the optimum length for an anime, since I don't watch them on TV I prefer to approach them like movies. Long movies but not the worst way to spend an afternoon.

I wouldn't call myself an otaku, I exhibit no otaku habits, think the best thing to come out of Japan is the game shows (thank you MXC) and don't think they should have won world war 2. I'm also far too literate, I guess enthusiast would have to be the best choice for what I am.

I suggest some Fooly Cooly. 6 episodes of concentrated insanity.

I'm sort of at a loss when it comes to the shorter animes.

Wouldn't the anime user group be enough? It already has many members and a flourishing chat. Creating a separate subforum would overdo it for me.

I cannot stand anime fans. I refuse to be around them. I've learned from experience that anime fans, when in a group or circle of friends will ONLY talk about anime or anime related things...that's it. The girls are the worst. They act like retarded monkeys and think they're being cute because it's "random"

Well guess what? If you're following a prescribed behavioral pattern, that's not random, it's just stupid.

And any of you girls who are anime fans, let me assure you now, no, what you are doing is NOT cute, it is not appealing in the slightest. The only people who think you are cute are the guys to "tackle hug" or whatever the hell it's called, because it's the only time a female actually touches them. The rest of us normal guys? It's childish, and makes us never want to be near you.
Good lord that was remarkably offensive.

I'm a fan of anime. Well, some anime. As are most of my close friends. Believe me, what you said did not accurately describe them in the slightest. They are some of the nicest, most intelligent and talented people one could ever hope to meet.
When we meet, we talk about life. Design, art, music, literature. We may discuss some anime, but not all that often. But we are still "fans" of anime.

Hell, we even cosplay. We're proud of it, too. Because it is a demonstration of our technical talent. Believe me, most of the costumes you see in anime are remarkably hard to bring to life due to the sheer impracticality of them, yet they can do it.

Your stereotypes, while they do exist, aren't the be all and end all of anime fans. So next time you're about to post as gross a generalisation as you just did, stop for a minute and think whether this applies to everyone of whom you are targeting.

After all, you post on The Escapist so it's likely you are a gamer. Are you fat, pimply anti-social nerd who lives in your mother's basement? I doubt it.

I wouldn't look in there much, but I know it would be a popular forum for a large number of people on this site.

Oh believe me, I get much better than that

Also, just in case anyone was wondering, no, I don't care what anime nerd I offended and don't intend to apologize.ever.
Oh, it wasn't anything you said in particular that offended me.
I'm just offended by ignorance.

I would love one, I wouldn't post in it every minut of every day but it would really be helpful and clean up the off topic discussions quite a bit.

That show confused the hell out of me, I remember some kid with something coming out of his forehead, then a hospital that looked like an iron used to iron clothes, then hands coming from the sky.

Gave me a headache trying to follow it all.

It would be pretty cool to be able to discuss an anime without some douchy person commenting on the clichés because they don't particularly like it. A different forum would help to reduce on that at least.

You have to watch at least half of the episodes to get a decent idea of what the plot is. It helps if you watch all of them.

Yeah... I did watch them all, just not in order, probably a bad idea.

I watched it when it was on Adult Swim on saturdays a loooong time ago

Half?! I had to watch the the whole thing twice before I could even begin to understand what was going on. Not that I'm complaining.
