They already have anime reviews, why not a section? No need to go as far as creating a separate forum like WarCry, which just creates more problems than it solves.
Where would you suggest putting the section though, if you don't want it on the forum page like WarCry is? And are you sure a user group isn't enough, you don't want to be getting greedy now right!
Oh no no, that was really for the sake of discussion, a sort of 'where do we take this now?' sort of thing. I'm content with the user group, in fact I was content without the user group, I'm not really a demanding person. This user group can go far indeed.

I can see why some people would want an Anime sub-forum and I can certainly see some benefits, but I personally think that it would ultimately create far more problems than it solves, and I think it's a really bad idea. If it happened I wouldn't be upset, but disappointed maybe. I wouldn't use such a sub-forum on principle.

Anime is off-topic in the sense that it's off the topic of gaming, and The Escapist is all about gaming as its focus. Anime should be treated just like politics, music, stories, personal stuff etc. Anime is as removed from gaming as any of those other things, so I don't see why all these things can't just live together under "off-topic discussion" as they do currently.

Probably not, at least not a whole lot. I already spend most of my posting time on the anime section of one of the chans. I'd be more interested in anime related news room articles

(Rottenbutter makes his first post in months)

I'd definetly use it. My growing interest in anime and search for anime discussion is what caused me to leave this site for so long.

So, if you want me back, an anime forum is sure to do it.

Where have you been?

Also, check out the new User Groups feature. It's the one you're looking for.

I've been places you can't imagine. Done things you wouldn't believe. I've matured, and inexplicably turned evil. It's been a wild couple of months.

Also, chat just isn't for me. I need forums to fully spread my mental wings.

Of course.
I hope you had fun.

Fair enough.
Fly free, then, rottenbutter, fly free.

You can tell all the animé haters on this thread have never actually met an animé fan. Or at least a sane one. We do have social lives, we don't run around shouting "DESU!", and we are perfectly capable of getting jobs. Seriously, these people need to grow up and be less closed minded. >.>
While I do know that yes, not all anime fans are those weird psychotic ones, the point is that anime forums tend to attract that specific type. Yes, I get that some of you are capable of having a conversation without dumping three or four words of Japanese into every sentence, its just that for a large part, its not worth dealing with (much like most people don't want to deal with gamers or comic nerds [both of which I consider myself])

No, no, this needs to stop. The last thing this site needs are a bunch of weirdos who go around shouting "Desu!" (or whatever it is they shout) at people.
Yeah, we should leave the site to a bunch of raging fanboys and people who might as well be labeled "emo-psychos" considering how much they whine about anything and talk about killing things and people.
There's a big difference between "whining" and "emo". As long as we're not cutting ourselves and reading Twilight (predictable joke), we're very much firmly just complainers.

I would use it occasionaly if I saw a topic that interested me. I'm all for the creation of a forum like that though, even if the Escapist is not really about anime.

Not a huge fan of anime, but I can see why people like it. I do have to say I hate Japanese anime most of all(which covers most anime tbh lol)

I cannot stand anime fans. I refuse to be around them. I've learned from experience that anime fans, when in a group or circle of friends will ONLY talk about anime or anime related things...that's it.
That's similar to my experience as well and originally made me hesitant to even apply for one of the anime review slots. To be honest, the anime reviews that I write on here are damn near the extent to which I "talk" about the hobby at all. Fortunately, posters in the review threads have generally proven themselves to be an intelligent bunch so I'm happy to participate in those conversations a bit but that's roughly where I draw the line. It may be one of my favorite hobbies but it's not something I've overly inclined to talk about much.

it would be kinda cool however i wouldn't use it all the time, mostly just to chat with dudes (and dudettes) about my opinions.

No need to find out whats good since i watch most new streaming animes anyway so most likely i already know.

If it'd be about Death Note or Bobobobobobobo(No idea how many, correct me if you wish) but other than that, no.

Nah, I wouldn't, due to my spoilerphobia.
I echo this concern, but if people are good about not spoiling then I'm there with bells on.

... "tackle hug" or whatever the hell it's called ...

And yes, normal people can enjoy anime, we just don't wear our hobbies on our sleeve
Not sure but I think the term is 'glomp'. Don't ask me where that word came from, it sounds messy.

I like anime but don't talk about it much in person, I talk about anything really.
