For the sake of argument, who says I can't throw feedback around? It happens all the time. Ok, don't answer that one.
Fine. You are absolutely correct. I am wrong. You have a greater, nay, superior understanding of the mechanics of the feedback system.

Eat, drink, and celebrate. I renounce my claim.

What makes Left 4 Dead boring is the 'shooting things' thing. What makes it brilliant is that tact and teamwork is necessary. I find the sense of having to rely on someone to save you is a warm and fuzzy one.
See this is where your whole argument falls apart for me.

You recognize that people like to play as the infected. You start the game off playing with friends you know. You state that the rounds switch sides eventually. You also admit that teamwork is a main part of the game and not a lot of people have their mics on (though someone else may have said that, it's been a long thread).

Others have brought it up and you've done a good job of avoiding the question but why don't you start as the humans? You know you'll play as the infected eventually and it will keep players playing for longer which means more people are having fun.

Now I've never played the game so I can't comment on my own preference but to me it seems like a solution is looking you in the face and you don't want to take it.

You're not supposed to abuse the feedback system.

Also if you don't want people to respond then don't bring up additional points. What you're doing is essentially saying "I'm right" and then putting up a road block so no one can counter what you said.

I would not call that abuse. At worst, I'd call it nazistic use.

Abusing (I'll say "I would think" before it's too late) in that context means to put in a mass-message to all in your friends list "Please send me positive feedback and I will do the same to you" to horde a few extra percent. Or to say "Bad rep this guy, he's an asshole".

I start as Infected out of habit, as does my cousin and right-hand guy.

Your point, if already iterated by others, is a valid one. I will investigate to see if people stay longer as a result.

Thanks.

But the same does (and has been stated), works in reverse (again). You play as both anyway, who should care that you start as one or the other.

This particular problem will be ended on the 21st, when the XBox DLC comes out. The team with the most points at the end of the round plays as Human automatically.
It's will be no longer 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, anymore.

I usually join in a game, and whatever team I am, I play.

I'll try to play as Bill as often as possible, but if not, no big loss.

I've actually been in a game where the other three members quit, and I managed to do better as INFECTED then I did with Bot controlled Survivors. 8/

Though I hate how they cut down the Smoker's range.

"Okay, we'll take the sniper class, and give him the range of a shotgun. Sound good? Good."

Valve hate consoles anyway.

Remember Team Fortress 2?

Remember the map with the bomb and the minecard? We don't got that.
The backburner? Nope
Sandvich? No.

'nuff said.

It depends for me. I usually play with a bunch of friends, and if I was trying to get on a team with friends and I wasn't able to, we would all leave and start another room.

It's blatant abuse of the system to leave a person bad reputation for no adequate reason.

I think your problem is that you're only viewing this from your side of the argument. The game is supposed to be enjoyed by both you and the opposing team. You can't criticize the other player for leaving because they're not having fun.

What if you were playing a game with your friends. They all leave the game and ask you to join a new one. Would you still choose to remain in the current game or would you go play with your friends?

It's Xbox live, no one ever plays without cursing like crazy or just being a jackass. I play with my friends only on PC, then again I think it's a bit easier to make friends on steam.

The problem with leaving negative feedback for early qutting when playing left 4 dead is that I find myself being booted from the game due to server issues more often than not. Then when i can't immediatley rejoin because of someone taking my place, I risk the wrath of the feedback.

I have been trying to figure out exactly what causes the disconnects as i have a decent cable internet speed and my Xbox is hard wired to my server instead of using wireless. Unfortunately I have not been sucessful. The odd thing is that it is only really noticeable in L4D. Oh well i digress.

Sometimes people leave involuntarily.

I would continue in the game I was in, then join my friends' if I could. It's happened before.
And like I already said, I don't know whether or not they're having fun.

*sigh, facepalm*

Why must you be so persistent that my reasons are entirely wrong? I'm fulfilling the terms stated by the particular article - "Player left or disconnected before game had ended". It is for that reason that I do it. It is not an issue of fun or reason. They leave and as the button says, before the game's due end.

That is all there is to it. It is not abuse. It could be construed as overzealous, as the next person might not care about giving feedback.

Ok, what if they cheated, or exploited some bug or glitch that gave them the upper hand or something? Would you mark them down, even if they were having fun?

It does annoy me that people only ever want to play as infected.

I honestly don't mind what I'm playing as.

What me and my friends try and do is split ourselves up so there is at least one of us on each side, that way the server never shuts down because one side is bot-only.

The purpose of that option is for RANKED games. In ranked games it actually matters if someone leaves. Consider this, why can you not leave a ranked match of GoW2, yet you can leave a public match?

Also I say that your reasons are entirely wrong because I believe they are.

WHERE does it say that the option is only for Ranked?!

Direct me to the blade of XBoxLive that says that it's for RANKED only! I challenge you. Where on the WHOLE DAMNED INTERNET does it say that it's for Ranked only?

Why is it not disabled when I'm in a Public match?

And, while I'm here (looking at the "What Is Rep?" page), it says clearly at the bottom.

Player reviews should be used for preference only [and not for Code of Conduct violations.]
Nope, nothing about Ranked.

I don't give a rat's ass their intentions for leaving, or whether or not it is intended. It is my preference to use this feature and nobody can stop me. Least of all, you.

For the love of God, please shut up! Nova, if this pisses you off so much, then just drop it and go to another damn forum. And Nox13last, just ignore this guy. And yes, if you leave early, then you are being a jerk, unless it is for unforseen circumstances. dang I replied to the wrong post... :(

You know this whole posts basically sounds like this: "I'm a selfish gamer who only cares about my own personal enjoyment with no consideration for others whatsoever."

I'm pretty self centered myself but at least I don't ruin other peoples ability to play future games.

I fear I have taken it too far, for I have annoyed someone hitherto uninvolved in the argument.

Sorry. I've been brought up to defend myself and take the last word.

Now the basic content of the post has been delivered...

---

I don't like people who have no microphones in a game that needs communication. I know they can't help it, but they're not expensive. In L4D, you could make do without because you have the speech menu.

In the Xbox version, it's harder because you only have the "Hey, look!" button.

I'm willing to forget this happened if you (not 'you' you, but 'the audience' you)) are. Failing that, I'm willing to stop myself before it happens again.
