When considering purchasing Bayoneta it dawned on me...$73.50 for a new game...really???
This is Canadian price, so maybe there is a different gauge for the customer pricing in otehr regions, such as the U.S.
But the question is is it worth it to spend nearly 1/4 of my console's (PS3) value on a single game with a average game play of 8 to 10 hours at most? And this question goes to all new games coming out, are they actually worth the ever creepying price point? And well the bubble eventually burst and cripple the industry?

Your opinion

Many companies are failing to make money even at $60 because of this stupid HD fad. When will people realize that graphics were great last generation if you put some work into them?

It's only 60 bucks around here, and most PC games are 50 bucks. Games on the PSP are a lot less (30 bucks or so for a new game.) Of course I'd love to not pay more than 50 bucks on my games, but It's just the way things are.

I wouldn't pay anything over $70. (US dollars) When it gets to that, I'll find a new pastime.

It's $59.99 for a new game here.

I would prefer lower, $50-$60 seems a bit high for a video game. Yet at the same time, I have gotten used to the current pricing so...meh.

Australia(apparently) has it the worst.

As for me in the states, I can't say the prices have actually kept me away from purchasing games I truly want. And for the most part, the games I do buy are actually worth the money.

As far as actually crippling the industry...well, these companies aren't stupid and they do have economic teams I'm sure that decide on whether or not the people are willing to pay certain prices. I personally wouldn't go much higher than 70 dollars myself, but then again, I would make much smarter purchases...or just wait for price drops.

You cna't really blame them. Games are bigger than ever. They spend millions of dollar and years in development, so 60 bucks isn't really to much to what kinda cash it takes to make them.

Well I'm not that big on buying games the day they're released. Why the hell would I pay $60 for something I'll probably stop playing in three weeks?

The only game I paid full price for was Oblivion, and it was the only game that was worth it.

I only have to pay around £40 for my new games; of course there will be extra charge for special editions. Example Modern Warfare 2, Single disk was £40, hardened edition was £70 and the edition with the night vision goggles was £115.

Australia's can pay up to 120 bucks for a new store bought release. There's probably a reason for it, but that doesn't change the fact that it sucks ass.

I think the more money you spend into a company the higher quality games your going to get. i would gladly pay 59.99 for a bethesda game because they are quality and that gives them more funds for there newer games so in the end their money circulates back to you sorta. but as others said i wouldn't pay over 70 dollars that just ridiculous.

The only time I've ever seen a game for $120 was MW2. Most are like $100-$110 which is STILL insanely over-priced which pisses me off, but it's kind of good. It forces me to replay games that I've already got and go through getting bits and pieces I missed the first time around. If games were cheaper, I'd probably be more into buying them.

Truth be told, I'm willing to pay the $50 price for games. I just only buy them much farther apart, and there's typically used games by the time I get around to some titles.

Great now I feel like the poor kid. I only buy games that are on sale (Steam), Used, or around the $20 mark. Go ahead point and laugh, I haven't played really any game that has been released in the past year or so.

I'm pretty sure game prices haven't changed much over time, I remember SNES, N64 etc being around the $40-50ish range, and now they are $10 more...not a huge increase.

Aside from special editions, I won't pay more than $60+tax for a new game.

Once it breaks that price point, I'm going to get very choosy.

I don't buy new games unless I really, really just have to have them. And that's a rare thing for me. New games are just too expensive. 60 bucks here, and I know it can be worse in other parts of the world. I can blast through a brand new title in less than a week. And then what? I hate multiplayer, so that's out. Spend another 60 bucks the next week? It's not worth it. I wouldn't be able to pay the bills.

The answer? Gamefly. All the new titles, without paying top dollar to play them.
