I usually dont buy a game on realease, too expensive. 50$+ is too much money. I just wait some time and the prices drop to a more reasonable level, or get it at a discounted price on Impulse or Steam.

Full-priced for new games? Pass.

With the exception of Batman: Arkham Asylum I haven't paid full-price for a game in ages, probably not since the SNES days. I don't have a need to have a new game right away thus I wait for others to tire of their games then pick them up cheaper on eBay.

Even with Halo 3: ODST "Santa" waited a bit then got it for $30 shipped from Amazon.com on Black Friday [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_(shopping)] then wrapped it up for Xmas.

My copy of Darksiders was $99.95 AUD which is still like over $90 USD.
Gaming in Australia is very costly, but its the first new game i bought in a while, mostly im a preowned guy.

Sorry I forgot to answer. I prefer the $50 dollar price.
You sir have good taste.

Back to the topic at hand, As long as the game is good I don't mind dropping 60$ to help out the developers, especially because it tends to get me some nice preorder bonuses.

Most of the games I see come down the pipeline are in the $30-40 range. I don't really go in much for the whole $60 console game thing.

This is why I rarely buy new games on release day....unless someone else is paying as a gift. xD I dunno. I love my video games but dishing out $60 so often would be painful.

New games on consoles are expensive because customers don't have any options but to wait and buy it later. Obviously the
arket supports these prices or they wouldn't still be in business.

hmm, the poll stats show a classic bell curve, where the most votes goes to the middle, or average
What, it is interesting to me
Hmm, whoopsie I guess. Just did it on the fly based on averages. Most polls are just yes or no, or some other bell curve response, so it just kind of fell into place. My bad, my first poll, I'll do something more interesting next time. Let me try this change.
no it's fine, it is an interesting look in to the collective psyche of gamers, and yes, I am taking Psychology.
Maybe thats why the poll came out the way it did the first time, go for the nice curve for easy stats. Understanding the Psychology of gamers would make for interesting study for sure, esspecially a fair and balanced one. Enough of the bantering that the gamer generations are somehow all corrupt, ala Corruption of the Innocent all over again.
Though game designers and publishers would be interesting study as well. Are they now purely driven by profit motive as business, or is still room for games as an art form not necessiarily driven by projections. Are their projections based on real market forces, or creative book keeping.

Even the lay out of the store is dynamic and interesting, just last year PS3 had small shelf in the back of the local game stop, now its in front with a nice layout, trading places with the WII. Good marketing, changing taste based on sales, a promo push, or simple preference?
I'll miss that when everything goes DLC one day.

The most i've payed for a game was £45 in May 2008 for GTA IV and that was utter shite
I dont know where people keep buying their games from though.
I have several new releases but none cost me close to full RRP living in the UK thats about £40-£45, but go on amazon or play.com and preorder or buy about a month after release and prices are down to about £25-£35. I see most pre-orders on Amazon at about £35

All bought new from various sources, in the past year or so all bought new.
Left 4 Dead 2 £32
Borderlands £35
Dragon Age £30
ODST £32
MW2 £36
Saints Row 2 £29
Assassins Creed £34
Rock Band £20 (got the plastic instruments for £10 each 2nd hand)
Naruto Broken Bonds £20

My brother went to GAME just after Christmas and got 5 games for £40/$60

I go on Amazon about once a month and get 2 games and each one is priced under £10 even with p&p

You cant complain about paying full prices for games if you still go out and buy them i bought all those for between £5-£20 off RRP.

However BioShock 2 whatever the price i end up paying for that, so gonna be worth it.

Games are too much money. Also, everyone and their dog are making games now so the market is really over-saturated. You either need to make something fucking amazing or drop the prices.

You cna't really blame them. Games are bigger than ever. They spend millions of dollar and years in development, so 60 bucks isn't really to much to what kinda cash it takes to make them.
That's kind of a problem, though. Yeah, from a technical perspective (i.e. graphics, software, features, online, player-made-content modes, etc) they're doing a lot, but not much else.

Eh, but then again, why should they go through all the trouble of actually making games fun and interesting when they can just up the production quality and advertise the heck out of it and get tons of people frothing at the mouth over their products...

I almost NEVER pay more than $30-$40 for a game, unless it's something that's REALLY big and awesome (Like Fallout 3 or Oblivion).
