Dogs, because they actually show emotion. At least, they look like they do. It's much easier to gauge a dog's personality anyway. Also, they can actually kill things properly, rather than just idly picking them up and batting them until they fall asleep.

When was the last time your cat swallowed a rabbit whole?

I like both... dogs a bit more though.

But I tend to like birds a little bit more than both. My Lovebird may be a territorial *****, but she is more cuddly than my dog ever is(she likes to climb down my shirt and go to sleep... when she isn't nesting -sigh-).

well I like cats but I would not want them in my house
and I like dogs but it turns out I am horrible with them.I mean I take my dog from this:

and make her look like this
yeah I am awful!
so I like both but that does not mean I should own either.

I prefer dogs, simply because every cat I've ever known is an annoying pain in the ass.
I have known three or four good cats, and that is it. Dogs on the other hand... I love taking dogs out for a walk. I know it is against the man laws, but I love cute little dogs like Benji:

What isn't to love about that cute little face?
All the fur that you have to keep unmatted and/or trimmed...just saying...

OT: I am one of those that has owned both and love them both. But currently, our cat fits our lifestyle better than our last dog.

Neither. I'm allergic to many of both species and I tend to dislike every dog and cat I come across. Cats are assholes and dogs require way too much attention. Kind of like children, actually, though I can't wait for the day when I become a father.

Dog guy, they are just so much more useful, and fun.
Cats are lazy and selfish (mine are more greedy than my dog).

plus how can you pass up this face

I prefer cat over to dog since I would hate to take a dog out for a walk all of the time (I more of a indoor guy).
you mean lazy.
he prefers being indoors! alot of people do! you can call that lazy, you shouldn't though cos it's pretty damn rude! i like a bit of fresh air as much as the next guy but i wouldn't want to be obligated to go for walks twice a day

haha, we had a lovebird at college, a complete psycho! she killed her mate and then when we got her a new one she killed him too! just so you know, it was an animal care course, we didn't just randomly have a lovebird

cats, for sure. Don't get me wrong, I'm a lover of almost all creatures, but I share the view of ancient Egyptians. Felines are sacred creatures, though I'm a little more forgiving in that I don't think anyone who harms them should be put to death. Only those who harm them intentionally...

CAPCHA = "respects pandas" Could that have been any more coincidental?

For most of my life, I've had a cat living with me. Never had a dog. But i know how cute and loving dogs can be, and I have to say i REALLY want one, one day. Dogs seem to be awesome.
So I guess even though I've only owned a cat, I really like both cats and dogs.
Go, animal kingdom!

Dogs are the best, I wouldn't give up my dog for anything. Cats are just basically the animal version of soccer wives. Only interested in your possessions but not in you.
that's just not true! my sophie likes the sofas and chair in my house that doesn't mean she doesn't love me! this one time she was sitting outside my room so i thought "oh she wants to go in for a sleep or something" so i opened the door for her and she just followed me along the corridor, so sweet! >^.^<

Maybe she thought you were getting her food?

I'm a dog person, really, though I'm very fond of the cat at my local pub, which took much more of a shine to me after I started complimenting her in Russian.

That sounds very odd.

In any case, she turned my opinion round on cats after being subjected to the constantly-cat-piss-smelling stairwell in my flat in Russia, and the yowling of the five or six cats who were consistently outside the door from 5 until 8 in the morning.

Mind you, I did have to fight off a small pack of feral dogs while I was in Russia, too.

it has to be dog for me, i had one from when i was born till around 7, then it went to some magical farm where it could be happy

and we got a new one when i was about 11 and have had her for like 7 years

dogs are just much more loving imho, although i know some cats are really nice and cuddly, they seem to just like their owner, dogs are just flat out friendly to everyone (most of the time) and love everyone

My cat is incredibly friendly to people. Complete strangers (to my cat) can walk into my house, and she'll walk over to them and plop into their lap. She's incredibly sweet and answers back when I say hello.

^_^

So yeah, I'm a cat person. I love dogs too, however. I own a cat though, so I'm a little more biased to cats.

I grew up with both. First cats, then we had a cat and dog, and now we have two dogs. I can bear either one. If I do get a dog, I'm getting a corgi. They're small enough to keep on your lap but big enough to play with.

And they love laser pointers.
