While I don't think that humor and seriousness necessarily have to be separate, I don't think I usually put an extraordinary amount of thought into my posts. It really depends on how tired I am, and how much free time I have. If I'm well rested, and it's a weekend, then I usually try to put a decent amount of thought and consideration into my posts.

Another part of it is also shyness. In serious subjects, I tend to be worried that I'll sound stupid if I provide too much input, as there are always people who know far more about the subject than I do. And since, as I said before, I like to add at least a little humor in my posts, I'm worried that I might inadvertently offend someone.

I like to be a bit on the goofy side when I can. If it's a serious topic then I will be serious but I won't delve too deeply into my own opinions. It depends what mood I'm in!

I'm also rather shy, so sometimes I worry if I will sound stupid.

Maaan, I thought this was gonna be a popularity thread. I was gonna come in and say "I post seriously. Oh. Wait. That's not what you mean." But it's exactly what you mean.

I myself like to be concise. Too bad it seems the mods hate you for being laconic, no matter how insightful you are. Kinda stupid, but whatever. Just means I post even less than I already do.

Well I usually use my razor sharp Nicolas Cage based wit...

Exactly. But I do tend to have a more focused point when the thread calls for it...

EDIT: I'm especially careful how I post down in R&P. It doesn't take much to set some regular R&P posters off. ***sigh***

"A joke is a very serious thing" - Winston Churchill

I always make jokes about important stuff; sometimes to lighten the mood; sometimes to show the absurdity of things that are SERIOUS BUSINESS! Sometimes I might inadvertently have a very serious point in my jokes.

I chose bacon, because if you put bacon in front of me I am going to choose it. But really it depends if something or someone irks me I will get serious. Usually I am just here for the chuckles though.

All of my posts (with the exception of those I have made in the RP Section) are usually just my opinion. I'm not a written-humour type of guy though, so I guess I am a serious poster.

Depends on the topic. Most of the time I'll try to make my posts mildly amusing. I try to avoid the R&P board like it'll give me timor-syphilis-isis-osis.

I don't usually post anything unless I genuinely feel that it will contribute something to the ongoing discussion - and when I do decide to make a "funny" comment, I give it some thought until I'm reasonably sure that it actually IS funny!

It depends on the topic really.

I haven't been able to post at all lately though. I think I'm getting Internet withdrawal.

Also, no one has noticed my absence, which is quite upsetting. What if I had been sick?!

Having been a lurker on just about every forum I've ever been on until just recently, I usually stress out for about 15-30 full minutes after typing out a post (before I post it), trying to find anything I could have worded better, problems with the spelling/grammar, etc. Sometimes I make a more hasty post, but I generally go back and edit these afterwards if they do not meet my neurotic standards.

I put thought into most of my posts whether they be informative or humorous.
As long as I have my 2cents to put in whether my posts are short or long, I'll still think on it.

I tend to be a more serious poster but only when I feel like my words can contribute. I tend not to go looking for people to quote and just lurk kinda like I am in real life. Heck you can tell i don't post a lot since I've been around since May of 09.

I only noticed your absence just now when I recognized your avatar.

I have no excuse. I hang my head in shame.

It mostly depends on the topic really... Anything political, religious or economically related I generally research and think hard about before I do my write ups.

I am not bringing politics, religion or economics into this, this is my disclaimer.

I agree with l0ckd0wn. For political or economical topics, I will do a research or read up before commenting. However, for off-topics or casual chit chat, I will post whatever that comes into mind :)
