most creatures have no fear of death
...What? Try to run over any animal with a car and you'll see that they indeed are aware that being hit by that car, and thus dying, is not something to be too happy about.
Thats pain though, everything in their right mind is afraid of pain. The concept of death is something else though.

I'm not afraid of dying because wonders lay beyond life. I don't know what happens after life and I'd quite like to know, if there is nothing and I lose all consciousness then it won't matter, if there is something then I get to explore and discover.

What I am scared of is how everyone will feel once I die. I'm scared of my family crying over me or leaving a wife on her own with a child, I don't want them to be upset.

Naw, she comes over every Tuesday for poker night...

Seriously though, I do...very much so. And the thought of no afterlife also scares me senseless sometimes.

No, I don't fear death. That doesn't mean I'm going to go down easy though. I'm going out in a blaze of glory, literally if I have to.

I find it highly illogical that death would make life meaningful. I'm so pessismistic and cynical that i don't think I've ever heard a reason to live that didn't make me want to gag. Not that i feel like dieing, i just tend to find these conversations strange.

its not eternal blackness. i dont remember floating around in space for the last 14billion years until i just sprang into life as a baby. i recon the molecules in my body have bin a part of many different animals, so when i die i recon i will just spring up into life again

this thought has kept me sane

Well, I'm afraid of dying right now seeing as my life so far has been my childhood and leaving in poverty while studying. I'm not afraid of death itself. I think of that as just as natural birth and just as important. In any case looking at my genes I will live for a long time unless I get in an accident.

Personally I don't fear death as I have some experience with it and it is normal to die at some point, the only thing which would be bad is that the people you let behind will be sad.

I am not afraid, i faced death in the face before. I'm more curious than scared, to finally proove or be prooven on the existance of a god of some sort.

Very much so, yes.

No hesitation needed. I've always known I'm afraid to die. I go through these weird thoughts about death and it leaves me unsettled most of the time.

Oh good God yes, it is in fact my greatest fear. Not to say that I'm at all paranoid or worried about it now, given my youth. But I'm an Atheist and subsequently believe the only thing I'll become when I die is maggot food, which is a prospect that terrifies me. I definately don't plan on, or wish to die anytime soon.

I will admit I am. I imagine it as just sleeping forever without dreaming, just darkness forever never to wake up again. Every time I think about it I cringe and just try to take my mind off of it.
I used to think of it in a similar way...kinda like back in the days of VHS, after the movie ends and after the credits end there's nothing. That's what I used to envision being at the end of life.

I am afraid of dying. It's mainly because of the pain associated with death. Other than that is the fear of what's awaiting in the afterlife be it heaven, hell, reincarnation or, nothing. Nothing or Hell would be horrible. Heaven would be awesome of course but reincarnation would be a mixed bag. In your new body you wouldn't have your old memories. I like my memories. Well, the ones I remember anyway...the good ones I remember.

I don't fear death.
There are ways I don't want to go out and I also want to avoid death like any sane person.
"All I want is a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools."
If the above requirements are met I will die happy.

Eh, I know I'm going to be near where the nukes fall first, so it'll be painless.

But I really hope that there's no afterlife. I really, really hope there isn't.

Death, not really as it would be just like unconsciousness, something that happens to most people every night.

The dying before that can be awful.
I guess what people really fear is pain and loss of dignity.

Fear of death is perfectly natural, keeps you alive and makes sure you dont just walk up and ask a very large carnivore how hungry it is.
So yes i do have a fear of death, but i am willing to accept the fact that every creature, myself unfortunately included, must die at some point. Can you imagine the overcrowding if everyone was immortal?
The current series of Torchwood (Miracle Day) is all about everyone being immortal and its a scary thought!

As for being afraid of death myself? no not really, probably because I'll get to met God, the only thing I have a fear of is the manner of death.
