I voted for English, even though I like us having the UK I still think its important to recognise the separate Nations within.

I'm half Scot and half English, so I say British. Although,
If asked to futher define myself, I just say I'm half-half. (Although a few years ago I'd have just said "Scottish")
I don't know why, but I just prefer the term British.

Wasn't it the late great Bill Hicks who said, when asked if he was proud to be an American,

'Why would I be? I didn't choose to be, my parents just fucked there is all.'

I'm British, well, I'm English, but as an English person, I don't have the national identity of Scotland, Wales or Ireland, so I'll go with British.

As an American reading this thread I am....so confused.

Just to be clear, Britain is the island and England is a country on Britain (again the island) in the UK and the UK is a collection of countries on Britain (again the island) (with the exception of Northern Ireland)?
England=Country
Great Britain=Island Consisting of England, Scotland and Wales
United Kingdom=Great Britain+Northern Ireland.

British, because no one knows what I'm talking about if I say I am Manx.
You're a cat with no tail?

On-topic...

I'm French! Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?
What are you doing in England?
Mind your own business, you empty-headed animal food trough wiper!

(I've always wanted to go to some English castle ruin and say that)
