I'm English and British.

I see no issue to separate the two. It's like asking "Are you French/Germnan/Spanish/Italian or European?"

You're both.
This. But also, I've an English mother and a Scottish father, so British is a more accurate term for me, though I do tend to think of myself as English as well.

I'm from Northern Ireland, but I call myself Irish rather than British, due to my families status.
Britain=Scotland, Wales, England.

UK=Britain+Northern Ireland

Ireland=Northern Ireland+Ireland.

So technically, you're not British :p You are a UK Citizen though.
Wow...you actually went there. Do you have any idea the hassle you can cause saying stuff like that in Northern Ireland? Also, note that NI is one of the few countries where you can pick - we can have either a BRITISH passport, an Irish passport or both. So don't tell someone what they "technically" aren't, because technically you'll find yourself looking an utter eijit.

op, I call myself British while living in NI, and I don't mind being referred to as Irish but I would correct someone who labelled be English.

i bet chicks dig the british thing though, i'll go with that

Irish mum, Welsh dad. Born in England. I'm English to acquaintances, and half welsh half irish to people who know me.

Scottish - we don't really like being associated as British
That doesn't make much sense seeing as Scotland is part of the British Isles

On topic I refer to myself as a European but if pushed I'd say British

A bit of both, actually--I'm 1/6 Scottish,, 1/6 Welsh, 1/6 Irish, and 1/2 German.

There's a war joke in here, somewhere.

Thank you for being one of the few people that actually understand what constitutes Britain, and what the United Kingdom contains.
Seriously, it's immensely frustrating having to explain time and time to my friends that the UK and Great Britain arent the same.

I'm European. I don't see why I should be patriotic to a country I don't like, so I tell people I'm from Europe. I'm sure they can figure out whereabouts from my accent. I either sound British or Australian apparently so meh.

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I don't see why that's difficult.

British.

I was born in England, but i am a bit Scottish and a bit Welsh. So i definately call myself British in Britain, but in other countries i might refer to myself as English so they know better where i am from.

I'm an American-born Scotsman/Canadian/Irish/British/Russian

But since technically your nationality is wherever you're born, I am just an American with European heritage, and you're just a Canadian with Scottish heritage.

"Your Catholic I'm guessing, my Cousin-in-law is from there in a place called the "Shankill road" in Belfast.Apparently hate catholics as does most of Belfast from what I'm told."

It's not that simple...

I'm Irish , not english, not british. I like England and Britian but would not like to be confused for them

Yes, because after 4 years learning UK politics I had /no/ idea about the definition of Great Britain. My point still stands and you're a douche that pressumes wikipedia will cover your ass - the same site that at one point said, Joan of Arc died in 1966.
