A lot of my friends have gone to University, and due to exams it's going to be hard to see others. One of my friends who I can see relatively easily is usually forgetful about meeting up and now that they have a new girlfriend it's going to be even harder. Even more so as his girlfriend doesn't like me.

See my Uni friends whenever I can, but it's either they live too far away or have plans with their partners or family. Have other friends, but not as much in common with them, so I tend not to see them much. Usually to see loads of them I have to make plans far in advance, but New Years Eve is an example of how that doesn't even go to plan. 6 people to come over, 3 dropped out because it was hard to either get home or get to my house, one just didn't show up because he was invited to a party closer to his house AND DECIDED NOT TO TELL ANY OF US. In the end, two of my closest friends (the ones I consider my brother and sister) turned up, actually had loads of fun!

Large group of friends. Dislike all but one. He's leaving for the army on Sunday.

Not happy.

I recently cut all my acquaintances loose, so now I'm just down to a fair number of good friends that are more than just people I know that will politely humor me until I decide to talk to someone else. It's turned out to be one of the better decisions I've made, so naturally, I'm quite content with it.

probably would be down a notch if I wasn't in a lovely relationship, but that helps a lot.
So I'll go with pretty good.

My parents moved around a lot so most of my friends are in a different country and I've drifted away from a lot of them.
I have one solid friend where I live now though, so things aren't overwhelmingly terrible; I just have to hope he doesn't get sick of me.

Suuuuucks. I have few friends, not close with most, and the ones that I am somewhat close with I secretly hate... But, that's high school for a lot of people. As soon as I hit university, I'm hoping good things happen.

I picked, I don't like people. But it's more that i don't like large groups of people, partys, clubs and the like. I have a few close friends and a few online friends that i speak to and play games with often and i'm perfectly happy that way ^^

I am happy with my social life, but I am pretty much a loner. I enjoy loneliness, and always try to avoid big groups of people. If I go somewhere with my friends, I think that you should have 2-3 friends with you, any more and I'll get annoyed.

One thing in which I am occasionally disappointed in people of my age is that everyone drinks way too much. I got nothing against drinking, and I like to take a few drinks while hanging out with my friends. The problem is that to everyone else drinking is the thing they came for, and not to hang out with your buddies. I can't count the times I have had to look after my friends (In Finland drinking means drinking until you pass out in a pool of vomit, and I value drinks as a side flavor to conversation). This is why I don't attend many parties.

As an example, 3 months ago I had to stop my friend who wanted to jump in to the Baltic Sea from our cruiser. The only ones not completely wasted were me and one other guy, out of a large group.
I enjoy philosophical and intelligent conversations, but whenever I try to start one, everyone looks at me like "Dude, are you gay?"

Sorry if I am asking a stupid question, but why you are somewhat close friends with people you hate? Wheres the logic?

My social life is fine but I've kinda hit a wall due to being 17 compared to all my friends who are 18+ and the just want to go to pubs, For example, Got invited out to a pub crawl on Friday then I realised I'd probably have no chance getting in anywhere. ._.;

Good, I would say. Go out for drinks with friends and at least talk to friends face-to-face on a daily basis most of the time.

At the moment, though, I'm sick and don't have a car so it's definitely lacking. Mostly texting people or on skype but its not the same

I have to say pretty good.
While I do have a close knit sweater of family and friends, I sometimes think I have too many. Thru November and December I have absolutely no time to myself.

It's pretty good, I have an awesome girlfriend and best friend who I see quite often, and then about 3-5 (depending on what they see me as) other good friends. And good acquaintances just about everywhere these days...

So no complaints at this point :)

OP, how are you in-between friends? I've had the same best friend literally my whole life, and don't understand what you mean.
You're lucky... Growing up, every time I'd get a "best friend", they'd move away... Right now I have like 2 friends that are actually friends and they live 40 minutes away.

Apologies, but it does kind of seem like you have 5 options for "terrible".
Anyway, yeah mine is good. Not perfect by a looooooong shot but I'm definately happy with it. That being said, I wouldn't say no to a better one or "The Confidence Fairy" as something I noticed would improve my life.
Lol yeah I noticed that but honestly the "terrible" is what needs more elaborating. If your happy your happy, but disappointment or sadness is often much more complicated. I just tried to make as many options as possible.

P.S: aah two posts in a row, sorry
Yes but to be honest, I may be being very cruel here, but some times it does seem a bit like people just need to get their head straight and just stop moaning and make the most of what is actually quite a good life.
Mmmm yeah but thats not the question. I have a great life and I'm very lucky. However i am currently unhappy with my social life. The difference is how you see the future, If you think that you will never have friends because they arent coming to you and you are perfect you need to do some serious thinking/ have a serious look at yourself. If you are doing your best to change and are extremely unhappy during it, well then, it really helps to have moral support/people who are going through the same thing.

I have a few good friends I really like hanging out with. One of ems on the Escapist and a very old buddy of mine, so if you're reading this Raiyan, hat's off to you your airplane pedantry drive me nuts

Other than that, i wish we DID more stuff like hang out and shit. It's pretty boring but that's why i have YOU, my fellow Escapist! [big hug]

Yes i know its sad, but just roll with it. :)

I have some pretty awesome friends, and I play online (mostly L4D) with my girlfriend and her family, usually her grandpa playing Bill. I'd say it's a great social life.
Sorry, but that was WAY too funny to resist.
