the end of ACI and and ACII pretty much are just teasers for the endgame. Desmond getting eagle vision after leaving the Abstergo animus for the last time as Altair means there are assassins operating in modern times, Desmond witnessing Ezio encountering the hologram of minerva meant Desmond would go globe-trotting to save the world against a solar-flare that will kill human civilization. AC:B doesn't tease as much, it's ending in 2012 functions as an addendum for where the apple of eden has been since 1507. We still a have a gap of 500 years where stories can be told in turbulent times in history.
Settings I'd like to see explored: English Revolution, American Revolution, French Revolution (and Napoleon's reign), American Civil War, WWI (I would say Russian/Bolshevik Revolution, but the comic's doing that), WWII, and Cold War.

I would love for it to be set in Russia during the revolution.

Using a blizzard to hide would be the coolest thing ever!

if i am not mistaking that is where the AC comic, The Fall (think that's the title) is taking place.

You are not. I did some looking up and am excited for that.

Unfortunately, that also probably means no game set in that period.

Desmond's capable of being the main character now, and without giving spoilers, I assure you Lucy, Shawn, and Rebeccah aren't going to be in charge of the Animus OR wanting Desmond anywhere near them, so either no animus this time or more likely a lot less Animus with a different setting. It has to be in Europe somehow, because unless we skip to the future, there aren't many cool buildings to leap from AND cramped alleyways in Africa or South America. Japan is doable, but I don't see them going there OR there being Templars to fight in a nation that until after WWII was actively hostile toward Christianity.

The protagonist of ACIII should be agent 47. the game should be an assassins creed/hitman crossover with a plot that makes references to both franchises.

if that doesn't happen, i want a protagonist that uses guns rather than melee weapons. so the game is more like hitman.
Then play Hitman. Or Metal Gear Solid. The point of Assassin's Creed is that yes you do have ranged attacks, but you're really supposed to get up close and let your spring-loaded wristblade slide into their throats. Otherwise, all that it'll have unique is the parkour. And if you want parkour gunplay, there's always Wet, which was a good game except for the anticlimactic final scene. Or Tomb Raider.

Sigh. To once again list a game this would be but with white robes, Splinter Cell Double Agent. Ubisoft isn't about to just clone another game's mechanics, they're going to stick to the parkour and stabbing from rooftops.

Well, I'm not going to be playing it, so doesn't matter to me. The first and second ones were boring, so not going to even try anymore.
You didn't have to reply. This isn't a "do you like Assassin's Creed?" thread, it's a "what comes next?" thread. Why do people respond to threads that don't even interest them? Boredom?

New Character.
If they set it in the future their going to have to do some changes to gameplay e.g. what do you leap of faith into?
I would like jello. But it´s problaby smarter with a bunch of cardbordboxes or a dumpster.

i love the guy, but two games in a row is adequate for one character (you hear that nintendo?!). a little new blood never hurt anyone! especially for a series about assassins throughout history.

Pretty much. Half the time if I see a poll I vote in it and it just seems weird to vote and not post. Yeah, it was pointless, but honestly I think that when a post goes up with a quiz, for example, and the quiz doesn't work, or a troll is another good example, why do people still post "the quiz doesn't work" or "reported" after the 50 people before them did the same thing?

I think you will mostly be playing Desmond in it actually and there will be small bits of the game where you go in the Animus and play as one of his ancestors. Well that's what i think. By the end of Assassins Creed II Desmond has learned to move and fight like an assassin and then in Brotherhood he has his little hidden blade that isn't exactly hidden. I just think it makes sense that you will be playing Desmond trying to bring down Abstergo.

I think they've done all they need to do with the animus personally since they know the locations of all the temples and also due to the bleed effect, Desmond is now assassin extraordinaire. So, I'm hoping Assassin's Creed III is going to tie up Desmond's story, and involve doing some assassinations in near future scenarios. I think it will be interesting when people are running around with double super BFG 9000's and you're still using your puny hidden blade.

It would be good to get out of temples and ancient settings for some of the game even if we're still collecting all his predecessors maguffins at some point.
maybe it's a hidden LASER blade, that can block! and maybe he has a mystical power tha interrupts the laws of physics, and it should be in space!

or, you know, not. I'unno.

Didn't the game mention a 'she' at the end of the game? Why is no one talking about this?

ACIII will likely be Desmond though, I just think there will be another major AC game before ACIII.

I know it sounds pretty silly, but I want an AC in the old Japan, Not with ninjas, only filled with assasins. Why not?

I like Ezio but I think it will be a new one because the game will probably play in a different time again. I think it might be the Victorian era of the United Kingdom.
This is definitely my favourite idea. Victorian London would be a perfect setting for an AC game.

OT: Ubisoft have explicitly stated that the numbered games will introduce new protagonists. That's why ACB has the Brotherhood moniker, rather than being AC3.
