27 people are trolls.(27 had hit, You're a loser if you like htem)

Anyway, do what you love. If you do only things that are socially acceptable, you're spineless.

The day you know no longer find joy from video games is the day it is over.
What people think isn't what matters, they don't know about your immersion adventures or how you struggled to beat a game; they just view it all as something that is a flaw.
Find new friends, or do what makes you happy. And if its video games, enjoy it.
Believe me, its better than asexual's "leisure time"

It's called a hobby, which is something you're never "required" to out grow. That's just stupid and makes no sense. So, there's never a set age you're supposed to stop liking something, games included.

ok here the answer

IT DOSNT EVER GET SAD TO ENJOY THIS MEDIUM

anyone who tells you otherwise is an insecure idiot who is only saying that to validate their own opionion/veiw of themsleves

seriously dont ever let it bother you, if you are comfortable enough with yourself and not insecure then it shouldnt screw them seriously
The topic is subjective and the OP was asking for opinions. Stating yours is fact comes across rather arrogant.
yeah mabye if I was saying that about a game or film

but its really a no-brainer, you should not care if somone (whos probaly thinks they are cool+ never picked up a game) says what you like is sad, ok mabye they can think that if they want but it shoudlnt matter

After a while, one is supposed to grow up and stop fucking around and doing jack shit in the way of productivity. Eventually, I'll do it too. I'll stop caring about a pointless medium and start working on a job, and a family, and life. However, that day hasn't come yet, so here I sit, playing my games.
Ive never understood this mentality, this life cycle we are all suposed to go through, at some point we are suposed to stop liking enything remotley interesting, start dressing dull and become boring old people who have children

I can understand wanting to focus on career/other things but that dosnt mean you have to abondon somthing you enjoy completley (and for what? TV?) a little gaming on the side never hurt anyone

plus people dont stop watching movies or....ughh "TV" after a certain age do they?

gaming can only become sad if you are actually unhappy (socially, body weight) and if its all you ever do, then really its more of a symptom not a cause

or if you are really happy with only gaming...who are we to say otherwise?

You're going to get a majorly biased sample from this poll. Since this is a gaming website, most people, including me, are going to opt for the penultimate option. It's never sad to enjoy playing games. Video Games are a legitimate form of media, the equal in every way of movies, books, or any other one.

The same age it becomes sad and losery to have fun and have your own personality.
So, you mean to say at age 8? Cuz that's when i was told that "being myself" is uncool. Not that i listened to the insecure tossers.

OP: What i really don't get is why there are people who don't like video games simply because they are video games. It's like people who dislike books for being books. I understand why people don't play games or read books, they may not like to, but that is their prerogative. However, to say that something is "uncool" or "stupid" based on some ungrounded dislike for it is just idiotic. I sincerely hope that i'm playing video games in 60 years.

You, sir, win my respect. A proper use of the word "penultimate." I wish more people understood how to use it.

At what age does liking movies become sad?
At what age does liking novels become sad?

It's sad to like video games when YOU think it is.

Which is convenient, because then you probably don't like video games anymore, and can move on to something else instead of becoming a wretched, heathen ball of self-loathing.

The only thing I notice when playing with gamers who are 35+ is that they talk about Ecsatcy a bit more often than normal. Weird huh?
In every Escapist thread, there is a bunch of "meh" comments, but one awesome one. This is the awesome one.

OT: Try your best not to judge yourself by your friends. Your friends can be the coolest people in the world, but you just aren't them.

Guess...

Why, exactly did you bring this to a gaming site?.

Video games can be a powerful and mature art form, just like movies and books, not playing them because they could be considered toys is like not exercising because some 12 year olds do. You're never to old to appreciate beautiful work of the human soul, just to jaded and ignorant

The very day you think it becomes lame.

There's no age to it, it's you. Wether you grew tired of it, or you let others decide how you should live and act.

Hi,

It occurred to me the other day, that out of all my friends, I am the only one who likes to play video games alot. I am 23 years old, and so are all my friends, yet I am the only one who will look forward to a LAN party.

I must admit, I've had 2 girlfriends in my life thus far, I know what sex feels like, and it hasn't deterred me from liking video games. If anything, it has made me like them more since I don't have the distraction of wondering if I am missing out on anything..

Kind of makes me sad really.. I really gotta find a social group to hang out with which are into video games.
There is nothing wrong with liking video games at any age, its just the way you express it. if your a titering fan boy camping infront of gamestop at age 57 there is an issue but at 23 ur still cool. you will keep fitting the sterotype for a gamer until your 30s anyway.

It seems your issue is really a change in your firends tastes that don't meet your own.

you are fine, your friends are just developing tastes that no longer match yours.

TL;DR Ur kool but ur friends are scrub noobs
