Basketball and swim team! Whoo!
By the way, if any of you say swim team doesn't count, I'm going to...to...um...make you disappear. Forever....

As a child, my school gym experiences left me scarred and forever unenthusiastic about sports. I've changed very much since then, however, getting in shape, becoming rather strong for my size (thank you, long muscle structure), lean, fairly flexible, an adept self-taught swordsman, and a (hopefully) decent hand-to-hand fighter.

I play Hockey, did wrestling and track in highschool, bike regularly, sometines run, partake in parkour, snowboard, and do a bit of skate skiing. So, yeah, multiple sports for me.

I was an athlete before I was a gamer. I played basketball, volleyball and soccer, plus track and field, cross country skiing and downhill skiing.

Unfortunately 3 years ago I had a bad fall in a ski race, messed up my right leg. I can still do a few sports, but running for any long distance isn't pleasant.

I've never seen a division between the gamers and the people who play sports. Every single person I played sports with was a gamer in some sense, and we frequently brought a PS2 with us on trips.

Well I watch sports. I don't think you would count amateur snowboarding as a sport though

I was never involved in organised sports, because to me they attracted a lot of assholes. But i'm always up for a good game of football (Ameircan or English, dosn't matter to me)

I'm playing soccer in the U.S. So I get little respect from other Americans for being an athlete. Luckily, I can gain back respect from gaming as well. (I'm also the skinniest of all my gamer friends =)

I play Rugby, and have been an amateur traceur for about two and a half years now (I'm not particularly good). I had a brief stint as a basketball player. I consider myself physically fit.

I was in the football (as in soccer), basketball, cricket and softball teams. I also did the high jump on Sports Day. Came 4th or something out of 9.

I used horse-back ride, if that counts as a sport? It never seems to.

Otherwise, I don't play sports, I just go to the gym and jog.

"Playing" "a computer or video game" for most people is going to Pogo and playing flash games, or playing Wii Sports. But because Wii Sports has "Sports" in the title, it makes them feel safe.
If that makes you feel better, by all means, think that. However, I think the anectodal evidence that can be found from merely scrolling up proves you wrong.

Look, You are entitled to your opinion. However, I'm just as entitled to my opinion that your opinion is rather dated, inaccurate, and absurd. I honestly think that breaking out of your own stereotypes (that "society hates gamers" and it is reasonable for you to "hate society back") would only serve you well.

It's nowhere near as damaging as, say, believing that all black people are drug-users who listen to rap music, or that all Jewish people are greedy and bent on manipulating everyone around them, but to assume all athletes are jerks, 'real gamers' don't engage in athletic activities, and society at large reviles gamers is still an unhealthy attitude: if for no other reason than you're basically making assumptions based upon your own prejudices and you're not actually THINKING about things.

Believe me: you want to be a 'rebel'? You want to be a beacon of free thought? Question everything, including (and, in fact, in PARTICULAR) the preconceived notions that are fed to you by the media. Question yourself always, first and foremost. That way, you can minimize the chances that you are being manipulated towards someone else's purposes as much as reasonably possible.

Or, you know, just stick to the status quo, simply because it is both comfortable to you and justifies your petty resentment for whatever perceived (or real) wrongs that were done to you. Let's see how far that gets you in Life.

I was never an competitive athlete per say, but I'm fairly endurant as a hiker/walker/backpacker. I used to play soccer/football (whichever name suits you, I played defense mostly) and practice both Karate and Tang Soo Do.

Now that I'm in college, I'm mostly just walking around and looking for work and.or free food.
