Yeah, it's alright. So will Battlefield 3, and there is no way the PC version will suffer from its console counterpart.

Seriously, that's not very nice of you to complain about stuff like this. The controls for Battlefield have never been that complicated.
Really? Bad Company 2, although it was meant to be a smaller game, took out so many things because it was also released on console. Prone? Nope, not enough buttons on a controller. Squads? Only 4 people now. Commander? That's impossible on consoles because console players lack teamwork skills, therefore we'll remove it!

Not to mention that when the game first came out, the controls were very sluggish and hit detection was all over the place. They patched it up all right, but still.
they got rid of prone not becuase of consoles, they got rid of it becuase they didn't want campers.

Also having squads of 4 isn't really consoles fault seeing as the game MAG and now even Killzone 3 has squads of eight.

Complexity? There is nothing complex about BF2 or 2142... Unless you're just referring to the scale of the maps?
Yes it's complex, especially when playing in at least semi competent teams. Organising your infantry, armour, air support, supplies and artillery so you don't get the 'everyone runs around like a headless chicken' syndrome of public server and the Bad company games.

As for what PC player's complaints about console support.
Wells...

My problem with this business of porting to console game is that PC players end up paying money for products to go backwards from where they were several years ago.

I'd like my mod support back too and the higher player caps, 64 player has been workable lag free for seven years now, why the hell are they pushing it back down to 32? I'm sure that has nothing to do with allowing them to use the same maps as the 24 player console games. I don't think it's fanboyism to feel aggrieved at being charged the same money for less product.

Oh god it's painful listening to the whines of PC elitists...

I have a PC with Battlefield 1943, Battlefield 2 + Spec Ops and Battlefield 2142 on it.

Yet somehow I am not complaining that Battlefield 3 is coming to xbox.

Because it's fine! There is no need to complain. I will probably get it on 360 and maybe on PC at a later date.

What? Seriously? I don't see a problem. I finally get to play a proper Battlefield game at something other than 10 fps and if the PC players are unhappy with something, surely they can just mod it to their heart's content...

I should emphasise I don't know about any details about BF3, but I haven't got time to look for them right now.

Being new to the pc gaming scene, I wouldnt mind any game being exclusive, as long as the pc one is made first, then ported to consoles, CAUSE THAT WORKS. Other way round, and it never fits pc standards (compared to other pc games). I bought L4d on pc after having it on xbox and notcied a huge difference in smoothness and gameplay, because valve designed it for pc, while MW2 was just the console version slapped on steam, so no dedicated servers, modding, custom maps, free dlc etc etc.

Coming from strictly PC gaming my entire life, it is sad to see that pc gaming is slowly dying out.
How exactly is it dying out? if anything it's becoming more popular through games like world of warcraft along with the decrease in price of computers that can run games at descent settings.
can agree to this. i think game companies aren't quite to keen on realizing that with cheaper prices for parts its easier to make a decent pc right now so lots of people can enjoy the pc experience, so i think within the next few years we are gonna see in a kick in pc games, or sales at least (look at steam sales in the past year, its only going to keep rising imo)

I don't see why all the hate, if PCs are getting a shitty port of an xbox game, fair enough. But if they are developing it for the PC and releasing it on Ps3/Xbox as well, who really care? all it does is increase the audience of people who will play it. Noone is forcing anyone to get it on a console over a PC, so can't people just get it on the system of their preference?

Port that shit to Ps3 I reckon, may as well, makes the developers more cash off the paying public
this. alot of pc people deny it but when they lose an exclusive they "derp da derp" about it trying to blame it on the console. there are tons of games where the differences between platforms are small, such as graphics/hotkeys/frame scale and thats roughly it

I only play games on a PC.

And I have no problem with this whatsoever.

Why shouldn't the console folks get their share of the fun?

Don't see anything wrong with it becoming multi-platform as long as they don't mess up the PC version and don't force console restrictions on the pc version.

If they want to remain true to the heart of the series, they won't. Nothing wrong with the Battlefield games that have been on consoles but to me, the only place Battlefield 3 could truly be itself is on the PC.

Just because a game is on consoles as well, it doesn't mean the PC version will suffer.
Bad Company 2 has no prone.
Modern Warfare 2 is garbage. With no dedicated servers.

Only ones off the top of my head in recent times (loooooong day, fucking tube strikes), but I am sure there's others.

The way I understand it, it's being developed for PC and being ported to consoles. So long as we don't suffer for their limitations I'm fine with that.

I think people are misreading the No prone, that wasn't becuase of consoles (in fact many fps on console have prone), they took prone out becuase they didn't want campers.

As long as it in no ways effects the PC version, I honestly don't care, it might even be a good thing as it gets more people into the francise, and ultimately more money for DICE to spend on the next installment (As long as they don't subsequently drop PC gamers in preference of there newfound consul rabble)

Oh, and they're in deals with EA not Microsoft as far as I'm aware...

Why do people think pc gaming is dieing out? Personally, the only first person games I can stand playing on the pc are the Elder Scrolls, Dark Messiah, and Arx Fatalis. FPS shooters work better for me and alot of people on consoles, and its not like having a game on PC and the Xbox means the PC is getting shafted. PC gaming is very alive and will continue to be. Increased graphics quality, more customization, mods, and the entire RTS genre are PC exclusives. Now if consoles deside to allow mods my dream will come true, but it will still never have that PC edge. RTS's will never be fit for consoles and the best that can be said about them is they didnt fuck up the controls "too" much on the console. PC gamers stop worrying, just because a game or feature gets a new audience, dosnt mean the old one is being forgotten about or left out.

I am sure alot of the PC Gamers out there wont be happy about it going to consoles too.
Get over it, play it on PC and be happy while we play it on consoles and be happy.

I think its a bit 'selloutish' by DICE considering they have givin the consoles Bad Company 1 and 2.
You do know that Bad Company 1 never came out on PC, right? And in fact Bad Company 2 was also made for PC specifically so PC games could play it too, not the other way around?

PC gaming isn't going anywhere as long as Steam is relevant, stop acting like it's the end of the world.

Modern Warfare 2.
I remember the days when map packs were free..

Also to support my point about Crysis, people on consoles will never be able to experience why Crysis was such a groundbreaking game.
it wouldn't have been groundbreaking if it had had the shakles of console limitations weighing it down.
Since when was mediocrety groundbreaking, or are you refering to the graphics the vast majorities of PCs at the time couldn't even run.

OT: I wish the PCs fanboys would stop whining. Yeah games are coming to other platforms so more people can enjoy them, who cares? It's not like it affects them in anyway.

What's wrong with more people enjoying a good game? I don't think anything should be exclusive.

Yeah I think this was posted a while ago, but still. It sucks. Just look at the simplification of the Battlefield series with Bad Company 2. Consoles are so limiting. I wish devs still ported games from PC to console instead of the vice-versa situation we have now.

I'll probably still get it. I've been a Battlefield fan since BF:V got me into PC gaming to begin with.
This. I wouldn't mind it being ported to consoles. But the vocal majority of the console community are jerks. They would just complain it's a bad port, when because of them we've been getting bad ports for years. Stupid self absorbed cock ends.

GUYS!

The PC gamers here aren't fanboys (I hope), it's just a very obvious trend that games get 'consolified'. You only need to look at BF2 and BC2 to see. Everything is smaller, less detailed, the field of view is smaller, and all kinds of tiny, tiny things that add up to make the games different. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what it is, but you can tell when a game has been made for PC and when it's been made for consoles.

It just so happens that in this case they don't want it to be altered for the consoles. I think all anyone's really wanted for a long time is a bigger, better, more balanced remake of BF2. Not a smaller, faster paced BC2, or a smaller, consolified BattleField2: Modern Warfare.

Except that Yes, it does. This has happened every time (At least that I can think of) a game has had to be designed for consoles for whatever reason, and it's been happening for a long time, so the PC players can spot it. Games that are designed for consoles are different because the consoles can't process as much at any one time. That means many, many things are limited. Graphics and Gameplay wise. It's hard to name any one particular thing, at least for me, but you can feel a difference when you play them.

The reason this doesn't go the other way is because, afaik, games that go the other way- from PC to consoles- are normally pretty good!
