Poll: Best FPS Ever?

Well, the one I've enjoyed the most is Resistance: Fall of Man, so I'm not going to vote on the poll.

In terms of story and gameplay, Resistance is by far the best I've played. I also found it very atmospheric, and it really immersed me.

That too. Though the first one hasn't really aged all that well honestly. I know it was a launch title, but it still looks kinda meh now.

I think it still looks fine. The only issue I have with it is re-adjusting to the controls, after playing Resistance 2. After getting used to it again though, it is still so much fun for me to play. ^_^

Oh no, I'm not saying it looks bad, just a bit dated especially since I just got an HD TV and comparatively to other things, it doesn't look as good.

Though, yes after playing 2, it takes a little getting used to. Too bad my copy of 2 got stolen I was almost done with it too. Last level and I was getting really into it.

interestingly resistance 2 was my first ps3 game. the final part of the final level is AMAZING too.

The starter lvl for normal games is slow ressistance 'Holy shit' 'massive fucking chimera'.
OT: I don't tend to go on fps's more 3rd person shooters so I didn't vote my fave for 3rd person is uncharted 2 that game was badass can't for 3

I liked the second one less, but it was still a decent game. The first one was excellent though.

Number 2, for Multiplayer Genius

I still play Doom to this day, great fun.

I would argue that Bioshock isn't even an FPS, the guns are so ineffective it's a "first person wrench and rocket launcher" game.

And by best, I enjoyed it more than anything.

This. I've yet to have more fun in an FPS than halo 3's 4-player co-op.

Pretty short list. Unreal was the one that immersed me the most in its world. HL2 was big, imaginative and fun. Bioshock was awesome, but Bioshock 2 had a much more emotionally involving story.

In that case half life 2 probably. Incredibly immersive, well written, action packed, variety filled, incredibly well paced, and one of the first game to IMHO really sell the whole physics engine thing.

Why is Quake 2 not on here. Seriously wtf.

Q2 is in my opinion, id Software's crowning achievement. All the innovation of the genre was refined, and polished, then culminated in this masterpiece.

i don't play alot of shooters. infact the only one i've played intensely is James Bond Nightfire.
which i loved INTENSELY!

Also why is something good simply for starting it all? is being the first really a reason to being the best?
maybe a favorite sure....but the best?

OT: GoldenEye. It was the game that introduced me to gaming (and I was 7!). The game was fun, it offered cheats for time attacks, and the multiplayer was well-done.
