For me I mainly listen to punk, a mix of all the subgenres and fusions with other genres and both old punk and modern punk, s'all good. I can appreciate and enjoy other genres but wouldn't choose to listen to them.

Mostly rock, a little bit of metal, orchestral, and video game music.

Progressive rock is a winner. I also enjoy the good old rock'n'roll songs. Favourite bands are Pink Floyd and King Crimson ("In the Court of the Crimson King" is possibly the best album ever made). I also like folk music, especially the Irish variety, or rock inspired by folk music.

Edit: Oh, and there is a lot of great jazz music out there, but I'm not too big on the improvised prog-jazz. It's a bit too random for my taste. Classical music is also nice for relaxation and while working.

What to say, I like all of these genres depending on my mood. Okay, I don't like trash so much but MUCC is a band that makes even trash beautiful so I listen to them a lot. And metal, well Stratovarius sometimes. All depends on my mood. *is listening to Toy-Box atm...*

INDIE IS NOT A FUCKING GENRE, its type of record label, what you like is electropop/synthpop.

You're trying to tell me that Wilco, Pavement and Sonic Youth are Synthpop? That's like Ladytron and the Postal Service (Who I also listen to).

There's a difference between Indie and Alternative. Indie is cutting edge creative minds like Arcade Fire, Beck, The Flaming Lips and too many others to get me started. Alternative is this mainstream garbage like Green Day, Fall Out Boy and anyone else who's on your local pop station and thinks they're a "Rockstar".

I like Metal. Now before you go all crazy on me, I like it because it sounds badass. Some songs sound genuinely good.
On the other hand, I also will listen to classical, classical guitar, anything that sounds good. You know you have good tastes in music when you can listen to Simon and Garfunkle as well as Cannibal Corpse.

I've been purplexed by why some many people like the crappy music of today. I guess its kinda slim pickings for good orginal music but I'm starting to lose interest in music. Maybe I'm just picky with my mental stimultion but I can't see anything positive about todays music and can't see it going anywhere I'd want to go. So I thought I'd try to be convinced other wise that peoples taste in music has sunk into the proverbial septic tank and tell me what you think is the best music of all time is. Say your favorite bands, songs, albums, genres ect...
Just restore my faith in humanity and say some good ones and doen't say any of that shitty depressing Emo crappy or that Angry Cookie Monster screamer music or that booty shaking music that dares to claim the name of Rap. None of those is music, just rape of your ear!

You want to know what we like but you're going to put down the music we listen to like that? Sorry, but people have different tastes. Opinions are opinions and not all screamo is angry, not all emo is depressing. Learn more about the genre before stereotyping.

Heavy riffs, good death growls but still has melody.

Wow. Someone else who's heard of Built to Spill. And rock music is a very broad and fragmented genre, so you should put up some subgenres
