Solo'd since I got it as my friends either a) don't own it or b) play it about 16 hours a day so it's impossible to stay level.

Had to re-roll a commando as Zero was just punishing in single player. Still love the game though.

I'm holding off Borderlands 2 until I get the inevitable Game of the Year/Ultimate Edition, but when that happens everyone's probably moved out of the game. =(
The latter part is why I opted to get it new. Because I want to play it with people. I like playing this game solo, but as I'm doing it I can't help but think about how much more fun it is to play co-op.

Played it solo for like 3 hours today, though. Definitely some fun to be had there.

I've only died once or twice with Maya since very early in the game. Once her Phaselock is unlocked, she's pretty badass. I thuoght I had made a terrible mistake trying to solo her until I hit level five and was all "hellooooooooo..."

I play solo, but with an open network connection so people can drop in and help me out.
I don't like joining random games because it fucks with my quests and my place in the story.

I have both a solo character and a co-op character. Well Technically several co-op characters, but I digress. I solo as Zero and I kickass. I'm playing co-op alos as Zero and......I'm slightly less successful. Course my co-op Zero don't have all the bonuses my solo Zero has.

I've done a Maya run that was largely solo, no problems whatsoever. I even went the middle tree, the one that seems on the surface as more of a support, but it really makes you super tanky with the lifesteal and massive regen. and Phaselock is absurdly good and versatile, just lift up enemies from half the map away for easy sniper headshots (Vladof snpiers with 20+ round mags and high damage-per-shot are the best guns in the game, IMO. I feel that the guns may have been more balanced for consoles where headshots are trickier, because on PC autosnipers just rip through everything), or up close to put a badass enemy at the mercy of your shotgun. and it'll deal massive damage to enemies immune to the lifting.

I've been doing it solo as Salvador and co-op as Maya.
Pretty much this.

I finished the game with Salvador(lvl 36) and started to play with Maya with a friend, but apparently he is too busy doing battlegrounds in Guild Wars 2 so yeah decided to finish the game on my own.

Well I put in a couple of hours with mates and it is more fun in the fucking around department, but with other people around you kill any semblance of atmosphere and story so I'm doing the rest on my own.

But the game is rather empty so it is a strange balance to keep, one should probably go back and forth to enjoy it fully, just do not play with random people because this game is wide open for griefing.

I've been playing solo as Maya, been having a good time. It's much better for solo play than the first was. I'm on PC so all you PC players here message me for some co-op. I have a level 19 Siren and if a group is gotten together I'm willing to start a new toon for a co-op campaign.

I Played Borderlands 1 co-op, but mostly solo. Doing the same with Borderlands 2, I like to get through most of it on my own before playing with friends, friends steal guns haha.
funny, ive only had that happen once (jackass stole a shield i wanted, but its cool)

i freakin' love co-op. its just the best. especially when you are all gambling at the slot machines to get oodles of eridium (its one of the better sources, assuming you get lucky enough to win some at the slots).
pull a lever.

I solo'd the first Borderlands and I've been doing it with the second, too. Nobody's gonna steal my loot. =D

I got Borderlands GOTY last year during the Steam sale, finally getting a PC upgrade so that I can actually play it; pretty much resigned to having to play solo, as I'd rather not random join; does it subtract from the experience, playing solo?
It's designed to be better multiplayer but it is still a fun single player game. Expect to die frequently if you are not Roland.... at least early on.

I did both, I'm playing now with a bud. He has never been a big FPS guy (preferring traditional RPGs), and he tried to control the car WASD...I was crying with laughter letting him drive repeatedly off cliffs.

Needless to say, we didn't get very far.

I like playing co-op, but the problem is that my teammates never seem to stick together! So it ends up being every man for themselves against monsters 100x stronger than us.

My first play through is solo but then I'll do a lot of coop to hunt for better loot. Also, I agree. The story is surprisingly good. It probably wouldn't be as meaningful to people who never played the first game but for me it's really special seeing all of the old characters come back and have them tell me how awesome I am.

Early on, groups of four were easy to throw together.

Now? Everyone's doing something different. Those two guys area ahead of me, those four are behind me, the guy who's in the same spot as me isn't playing today... fuck it, I'll just solo this shit.

I've been soloing as Maya. Aside from a certain few quests and named enemies (Doc Mercy, Mad Mike, and Mutated Badass Varkids) I haven't really been having too much trouble. I'm loving the game.

I have two characters I'm playing at the moment.

My Gunzerker is exclusively with another player, while I'm also playing a solo Commando in the times in between where I can't play co-op.

Solo seems to be a bit easier, and a bit harder, depending on the situation. You have to be much more tactical, and getting through areas can take double the time it does with two players.

I've been solo Commando (because I fucking knew they'd have riot shield guys), and co-op Maya (to heal up my Gunzerker buddy).

So, yeah half and half.
