I don't even own a PS3 and I say get Uncharted. Brutal Legend isn't all that great gameplay wise. Sure the story and the actors are great but the gameplay is something to be desired. Having to sit through the same rythym game or QTE (whichever you want to call it) just to do the simplest thing like cap a resource point or summon a car is annoying. Not having some sort of hp bar is just sad. You don't know if you are about to die til you are pretty much dead. And I have fallen off so many cliffs now simply because the ground just ends with no real warning that I just no longer have any urge to explore.
Cool, thanks for that description. I was afraid the metal fans would fail to mention this kind of stuff.
I am a huge metal fan and I have now TWICE had to switch Brutal legend off in frustration because it hates me.
Driving off cliffs is one thing, but stupid cheap lightning-blasting horse riders insta-killing you when all you want to do is explore the scenery gets old real quick.
The RTS parts are horribly explained and implemented and there are no proper turorials to help you deal with high end baddies. The menus are beyond fiddly.
The guitar solos are annoying because if you try and play the offensive ones the enemies gang up and kill you before you even finish them.
Guys, I can't be the only one who found this game frustratingly tough, can I?
Yes even the beginning menu is horrible. It took me 5 minutes to find the bloody RTS battles. I thought I would have to beat the game to unlock them. And yes I am with you on the difficulty. Last night I was exploring when from behind this herd of motorcycle boar hybrids just raped me. I didn't even get a chance to attack before I was reloading (just to have to play the god damn summon car song for the septillionth time).
I think the biggest problem is there is to many different game mechanics. You have a sandbox, hack n slash, rts, rythym, driving and Overlord type game mechanics in one game. None of which were perfected (or even close). And the ambush side missions are just plain wrong. They are just a waste of disc space. I am dreading the racing sidequests. The hunting ones are a yawnfest. They are only worth doing because of the hunter himself (I like that guy, he is a great actor).
Oh and I almost forgot to mention the AI will cheat in "stage battles". For resource gathering you need to build these booths on top of geysers. If you get to a geyser and there are enemies around it will be red and you can't build on it. If on the other hand you have a bunch of your units around a geyser the AI leader can still cap it.
