Sure, I would, if they called it Delta Green instead of Call of Duty. Also, you'd have to make it a lot less action oriented for it to really work as a part of the Cthulhu Mythos. But I think it could be awesome.
It probably wouldn't involve Cthulhu, I was meerly using the... Thing as an example for an utterly undefeatable horror.

That would be a fucking amazing game, but you can't put it under the Call of Duty franchise.

It wouldn't be, it would be similar, but I doubt Activision would like it X3

Read over the thread, Cthulhu probably wouldn't be the antagonist.
I did.

CoC, as a setting, doesn't encourage shooter-style play. It doesn't matter who the antagonist is. That's just how the game works.

Press A to go mad in the face of a cosmic horror beyond human comprehension! Hold RT to claw at your face while gibbering!

Then there'd be a 20 hour period where your character frantically scrawls down his memoirs in an asylum..

Press A to recognize your inevitable metamorphosis into a fish person! Press A again to commit suicide, leaving only your fevered writings as a testament to the utter futility of a continued existence in a universe made from pure madness!!
Okay, that made me laugh until I couldn't breath X3
Eeeexcellent... The prolonged but inevitable asphyxiation of the human race has begun...

Yeah, but, why is there no "I think call of duty is the worst video game since custard's revenge" option?
Because it wouldn't be a Call of Duty game.

As well, that would be off topic X3

Two people standing across from each other going "HADOKEN" until one dies is boring, yes. An Eldritch Abomination being taken down by fifty terrified soldiers is not boring.
More like fifty thousand.
The simplest and most practical method of dealing with eldritch abominations is to build the apparatus necessary to move a star, then to go forth into the galaxy and move them so that they are not 'right'. If you think that is a lot of work, you are not ready to fight them.

That's the point, we aren't!

This is why Fallout 3 got so old so fast. I wanted an increased challenge but didn't want to up the difficulty level because ordinary humans could already take a few shotgun blasts to the face without flinching.

Quick disclaimer, I do in fact know if the Call of Cthulhu RPG.
Are you referring to the adventure-style dramatic piece or the recent indie comedic RPG "Cthulhu Saves The World"? *laughs* Best $2.50 I've ever spent!

I think the idea, or similar ones are great! However the ending would be a little anti-climatic, seeing as it'll all be over when the big guy wakes up.
The whole point is that the human race WILL die, and you're just trying to prolong it a bit.
Whoops missed that! Anyway, that would be a great plot element, having a Lovcraftian notion of futility, overshadowing your actions and objectives. In that regard however I don't think the whole "Oohrah!" "Give Em Hell!" attitude that 99% of COD's characters seem to posses would contradict the overall theme of how your waiting for the inevitable.

Perhaps a better template is needed than COD :)

A Call of Cthulhu/Call of Duty game? I need to take a Sanity check...

I don't know if a CoC FPS game would work. It doesn't really work with the setting. But I do like the idea of fighting enemies that fuck with your mind whenever you fight them. Perhaps a setting that's similar. That seems cool.

Just imagine: as you near one gravity goes all wonky, the walls shift around you, your allies begin to shift between their actual form and that of the enemy, and your gun is giving you an odd look with its new glowing red eye. That would be fun and would actually mess with the player's head.

You realise of course that 99% of the mythos creatures are immune/incorporeal or would care if you shot them with anything less than a low yield tactical nuke. The nuke would tickle the other 1%.

The game BTW is called Delta Green, a CoC 'expansion' that dealt with special forces dealing with 'special' forces :D

I think youll enjoy the next X-Com game though, shame I wont :/
You could probably kill some things, like Shoggoths. But that's assuming they don't kill you first.

Are you kidding? Of course, I would. In our D&D group, I'm running an end of the world campaign for the setting I've been creating over the last eight years. Every single one of my players know that there's no way they can stop the the end from coming. You get some really interesting things out of people when they know they're doomed. Presented right, it would be awesome.
