I have been driving for years, I got my license as soon as I could. If I didn't own a car I would probably go insane.

Yes, I can drive.

My car just got EU-approved, and I get my licenseplates on Monday.
Though I've had "test" plates now in the weekend, so I could take a few drives and go shopping in the city.

I got my license at age 23, but you can legally get it at 18 (and start practicing at 16).

I got my license last year. We can drive when we are 18, but my dad taught me a few basics before that.

I can fly....the TARDIS

I can drive but I don't have anything official to prove it though.

I can legally drive from 6 to 8 (6 to 6 once daylight savings ends) with two other people in the car, and will automatically get a full license when I turn 17 next year.

Here in Oz, you get your Learner's at 16, keep it for at least a year (while racking up 120 hrs in [in NSW at least]), go onto your Red Ps (probationary license, 90km speed limit, other restrictions) for one year, Green Ps for two more years (100km).

Got my Learners at 16, my reds just before i turned 18 and my greens last week. Two more fucking years before I can get my full license.
holy hell that sounds like a lot of trouble.

here in Canada(keep in mind that it varies from province to province) at the age of 16 you can go get your learners licence, this licence lets you drive if you have someone who has had his full licence for more then 2-4 years(can't remember). A year later(or 8 months if you get government approved lessons) you can go past a driving test to acquire your temporary licence. These let you drive as much as you want(alone, with passenger(passenger have a sort of curfew) and no alcohol). After 1 year of having those licence you can go pass a test to get your full licence.

I currently have my temporary licence so yes I can drive. Its a very useful skill to have since I live in a very rural area and everything is 45min walk from me(including work).

this thread is undoubtedly a nominee for the "useless waste of binary space" award.

but then again, that's about 98% of all threads posted here.

I learned to drive at 17 (live in the UK) and have been driving for 15 years now and I thoroughly enjoy it. I've been caught for speeding once, locked up the breaks in the rain and ran in to the back of someone once (no damage though), and slid on ice and caused a small scratch on someone's bumper. So all in all I consider that I've been quite lucky.

Oh and as a random bit of useless information, I spent a couple of hours playing forza 3 this morning, am watching the F1 grand prix in Hungary right now and fully intend to watch top gear tonight.

I like cars. :)

I think I can drive but I cant get a driving license (you need to be 18 here although you can do a theoretical exam at the age of 17)

I can drive, just not to the standards required by the Transport Dept. apparently.
I'm currently on my learners permit, went for my provisional licence (first level to be able to drive on my own) last week, aced the driving test except for one thing; the testing officer couldn't see me moving my head to check my rearview mirror, so I got failed on that. Ridiculous.

I live in Tasmania, Australia, and the licencing laws here are, once you're 16 you can get your L's (learners), then you do 50 hours of supervised driving (with a fully licenced driver or instructor in the passenger seat), then you can take your P's (provisional) test once you've done 50 hours and have held your L's for a year (minimum age to take test is 17 years old).

If you take your P's test in a car with an automatic transmission, you can't legally drive a car with a manual transmission until you're on your unrestricted (full) licence.
So I'm taking my test in a manual (stick shift), for a couple of reasons.
A. I find them much more fun to drive.
B. I can't STAND driving an automatic anymore, I don't feel like I'm in control in an auto.
C. It's more convenient if I find myself in a situation where the only car available is a manual.
D. Once you go stick, you never go back. Trust me.

So I've gotta wait another month until I can take my driving test again, and this time I WILL get my P's. Otherwise I'mma kill a *****.

Sorry this became a rant... Went a little overboard.

All I have to say is grarghblargh. Got my Ls when I was 16, then proceeded to do about 10 hours of driving over a year (due to many instances of "You can drive next time, I don't feel like letting you drive right now" and also much laziness on my part), picked up somewhat the following year, and now, another 6 months down the track and 18, still no license, only got about 60 hours up total. This is causing me much grief with my already somewhat farcical social life.

I'm on my provisional license. In ACT that doesn't limit you at all, it just means that you have a .000 breathalyzer allowance and it's way easy to lose your license. I don't break the law though.

I also have a car, so yes.
