The way I see it - find the nice gut in the million - clone him a million times - kill the rest.
Works

We already have enough social issues in the world right now and don't need another one. I do think cloning organs or body part is a good idea though, it would save alot of lives and cut down on the donor-recipient list.
Sweet christ YOU CANT OWN A PERSON. If you squeeze a baby out normally the doctor doesn't own it. If you have IVF the lab technition doesn't own it.silicon avatar said:If we clone whole people think about the possible social problems that would result from that. who would own the clone? the company that made it? the persons cells being used? the governments? we would have yet another minority group demanding equal protection and rights.
but as far as cloning just the parts an amputee or someone with organ failure would need, I am all for it. people shouldn't have to suffer or die when we can treat them.
But wouldn't they all protest, considering they are essentially you? (That is of course, if their memories are replicated too) they would also consider themselves better than other clones and think they should have all the others (including you) working for them, then you would all fight amoungst yourselves, which would look a little bit like the scene in that futurama episode where they create a box containing an alternate universe, and Leela fights her alternate self (Couldn't find a video of it)sasquatch99 said:I think it would be cool to have a few more mes in the world...
They could do all my work for me.
Yeah, I mean, why not just clone the organ itself?Crystal Cuckoo said:why raise a human just so that his/her organs can be harvested for the original? This notion is brought up in texts like My Sister's Keeper and The House of the Scorpion.
That argument falls flat on its face when you realise we can just clone organs and we don't need to clone a full human copy to get said organs. Not sure about bone marrow, but I don't doubt that if we're not there yet, we will be before long. Clones wouldn't be kept in captivity as organ farms because it'd be a pointless waste of money. It'd be cheaper and more efficient to just clone single organs for transplants.dnnydllr said:One argument I hear often used is that they will be used for organ harvesting. Think about it; anyone who could afford it would have clones made of themselves who would be perfect blood, organ, marrow, you name it donors for them. They would keep this clones in captivity until they needed an organ, at which time the clones would be forced to go through with the transplant.Amnestic said:Why not? I mean, besides the religious opposition of "Playing God" do we really have a reason not to clone people?
You should teach birth control in Africa.Sven und EIN HUND said:We're killing the planet, why speed that process up with more assholes?
