Never have and doubt I ever will. Using sex appeal is used so much these days that it actually makes me less likely to buy something because it's pretty much saying 'we can't be bothered to be creative so we'll let sex appeal do all the work for us'.

Not very often.

But not the type of sexy you're thinking about.

I don't really find breasts bouncing around like jello sexy at all.
I don't really find little girls in skimpy outfits sexy at all.
I don't really find women with extreme breast surgery and broken spines to push their asses even further backwards sexy at all.

But I freely admit to the romance options in Bioware weighing in on my decisions to buy those games. Or the presence of Alyx Vance in Half-Life to buy the following episodes.

There is an overabundance of porn and even NSFW mods for pretty much any game you want, so get the game you like for the story/combat and let modders take care of your lonely horny needs

Sorry, not really a factor. More like a bonus. Ya dig?
pretty much this. i just dont care for absolutely horrid looking characters, unless it is a part of their character. and since sex appeal seems so important to the devs, its everywhere and so hardly worth considering when buying a game. as he said, its not a factor, just a bonus.

I will admit, I tried out Mass Effect on my workplace's Xbox 360 because I'd heard about the alien sex.

But then I bought it for PC because, you know, I like BioWare RPGs. (I started with KotOR because it was Star Wars. :p)

A game with sex is like a movie with sex. Some people like it because they don't have the balls to go onto the internet, and they find it justifiable to buy it through a game/movie simply because other people may approve of it as well, thus they are not branching out of their social bubble and causing a 'social tragedy' of sorts (AKA. no confidence whatsoever and no mind and only gutter).

I however don't give a fuck. Sex as far as I'm concerned should be abolished from Games and Movies simply because if they are not going to show the good bits why show any at all? There's porn on the internet for bloody hells sake, I don't need to watch a crappy movie like Watchmen to watch a porno (Literally, like 4-5 times, I deemed it one of the worst movies of the new millenium, go ahead and hate me, the rest of the movie sucked too; I only liked the one character Roshak, so the others can sod off).

In Games however, such as Biowares RPG's of Mass Effect and Dragon Age, at least the player has a choice to skip all that useless nonsense and actually 'play' the game, but have people bought it purely for the sex? From the sex mod's that I have come across in the Nexus for Dragon Age, yes, I can garuntee people bought it strictly for sex, useless sobs. But then we have Hentai Games, which admittedly I have played. Hentai, or Anime Porn Games, is where you make choices in the game, and depending on those choices, you get to have sex or develop a relationship with a woman/man/alien/angel/demon/tentacle monster or/and clown (Yes, im sure some sick man has made one with a clown). These games at least share a thought of 'Extremes' that I wholly agree with. They strive to be a porn, and don't try to hide it, because it was made by sick pervs, for sick pervs.

So when it comes to sex in games (or as I have brought up as off topic, but is completely relatable) and movies, my opinion is that it should be either of the Extremes, because right now it is in the "Uncanny Valley", and this valley just ends up being RIGHT between the two extremes. So Developers, Games and Movies, either make it porn or don't, its your choice!

Can't recall a time when it's happened, but then most of the games that make a play on selling via sex appeal aren't really aimed at me anyway. I see a naked woman every day, and frankly it's nothing to write home about. :)

But once I've bought a game, there can be newly discovered sexy in it. Which is great. At this point, I shall cite Alistair, Dante and Vincent Valentine.

OK, minor correction to my initial statement. I bought Dirge of Cerberus because it had Vincent in it. Didn't care about the reviews, critics or any of that. It had full CGs of the Gothic God in it, there was no way in hell I wasn't buying that game. So it looks like I'm shallow after all. Hooray!

Sex appeal not in the strictest sense.
Attractive characters? Occasionally factor, though I can't say they've ever been the reason I've purchased a game.

I feel there is a distinction between the two as attractive characters are Keats and Ellen from Folklore or Chie from Persona 4.
The sex appeal I assume your looking for is say the nude dlc for the Saboteur, which are unattractive characters in my mind.

I had more words to say it but I'll boil it down for you instead:
Never ever bought a game for sex appeal.
Sex appeal is occasionally a bonus that is present in certain games.

For me its never, I find it annoying to try and fap while also trying to play a game since most games require both hands, if I want sex appeal without the actual sex then my computer has the best power for helping me vent some of hormone driven urges. I mean I can find just about anything and switch almost instantly to whatever I imagine using just my left hand leaving my right hand perfectly free.
Actually there are games I didn't buy due to them having a bit to much sex appeal such as Bayonetta, I find it awkward to have soft core porn laying around the house and prefer any such evidence of my darker nature to completely erasable and not monitored by my mother tidying up the house... I might start getting into such games next year when I'm 18 and have my own place but until then the internet seems to be a far superior option.

Once, and that only confirmed my belief that if a game has tits on the box, that's all it has going for it and should be ignored.
