Us straight ladies don't really get much sex appeal thrown in our faces. I mean, really... when's the last time you've seen a ripped, shirtless guy on the cover of a game? So I can honestly say that it never affects my purchasing of a game.
Rated M for Mature

Hehe, that would be awesome.

There is this one I could think of. But that is about it. Don't he look sexy? Just imagine why his loin cloth is so long.
Oh my goodness, thank you for that. I literally burst out laughing. I think you just made my night. Also... I will never see Conan the same way again. But anyways.

See, the only game I could think of was...

...and I mean... really. What cruel, cruel person decided to put the title over his pecs?

Never. My money isn't anywhere near abundant enough for me to purchase something just for some titillation. That's what the internet is for. And if I want something in a game I'm sure I can just find a mod for it somewhere thanks to Rule 34.

Even if I had unlimited funds, I wouldn't do it. I purchase a game to enjoy the game itself, and I think it'll stay that way for as long as I keep playing 'em. That kind of stuff in a game just strikes me as silly, pointless, and detrimental when people use it to promote bad press about gaming.

Zero. The sex appeal of video game characters is sometimes a welcome side-effect, though.

Funny thing is, I bought DOA 2:Hardcore for the PS2 for the game mechanics... it's a quick, technical fighter. When the volleyball game came out, I had to laugh... all of the women in those games are too exaggerated to be sexy.
I actually picked up the volleyball game for $2 last month just for the lulz. The breasts bouncing independently and the cold, dead expressions on the characters face were actually pretty hilarious, and horrifying.

Warning, the below image contains excessive masculinity.

I'd be a liar if I said sex appeal didn't at least influence a purchase, it by no means sold me right on the start.

I play videogames for the gameplay, usually the challenge. Sex appeal is a nice bonus if it's done appropriately (read: NOT Soul Calibur), but it's not a big factor into my decisions.

I think the last guy who struck me as attractive in a game is Alastair...and Morrigan was on the cover of that game :/
I like Joker out of Mass Effect but apprently Bioware think that you couldn't possibly like that cute sarcastic top gun so here's a dying lizard guy, Garrus Velociraptor and Jacob ''Kanye West crossed with a hippo'' Taylor instead.

So yeah I don't think straight women get considered much...

It'll occasionally draw my attention to a game. But I don't think I've ever actually bought a game purely out of sex appeal (although renting games is a whole different story...).

A little but I'll eat a live cat before I pay retail price on a game for sex appeal alone. Maybe I'll buy it off of half for a dollar like two years after release but that is still pushing it. Google images is usually enough for me.

I wouldn't say rarely but it isn't often. I can be persuaded to spend money at times by the gratuitous display of the opposite sex and any man that denies that is a liar or gay.

I will say though, I don't seek it out.
you're so full of shit it's disgusting

I've never bought a game off sex appeal and I never will. Virtual boobs and pussy are nowhere near as good as porn, so why bother?

I'm not gay, and I'm not in denial. I'm not stupid either... when I want to see sexual activity I just watch porn.

Yeah, really. I never understood why people cared so much about actresses getting naked in films when porn offers so much more... and it's fucking free
I see so much bullshit in this thread it is pathetic. It may be downright ignorance of what it means to factor in. Factor means it is AN attribute. As in of many.

Porns SOLE contribution to your interest is in sexual appeal. This thread is about how much it factors into your game purchasing decisions. "Rarely, if ever" is bullshit. Unless all you play is bejeweled, plants vs. zombies, Zuma, and the like. Where no human interaction is involved in games you enjoy. But the escapist is all about RPGs and I doubt that if most RPGs offered this as your love interest:

this as the main character:

and everyone else in the game looks like that in a similar manner AND THEN if a game came out with this as your main character:

and this as your love interest:

That it would sell about the same assuming the gameplay and everything else were the same.

Don't kid yourself, the game with attractive people would break fucking records in sales compared to the average sales of RPGs. Every RPG fan would get it and some non-RPG players would check it out too.

It is a factor.

I voted "Rarely, if ever", because it's as close to choosing "not at all" as possible.
I've never bought a game because of its sex appeal, and I don't think I ever will... It's just not why I play games. >_>

I dunno. I'm buying The Witcher 2 partially because sex is a big part of the universe. I really appreciate that in a RPG. I find it easier to take The Witcher more seriously than Bioware's games. I don't know if this counts as sex appeal though. If it's just T&A, then no. That affects my decision on what to buy as much as blood and gore.

Neither will the two women behind him by the looks of it. I forgot about Dante. He is a hit with the ladies it seems.

Why do you want Hugh Jackman to die of VD?
Only because wolverine totally cockblocked every other X-man from screentime. But I can forgive him for that considering he actually fought to have the character he portrayed (Wolverine) to be as close to the source material as he could despite the director's wishes. Hugh Jackman is awesome though.

And that is a Christmas bow.

Wow, having Joker be a love interest would be pretty cool.

It factors very negatively.

Because the more sex it throws at me, the more I suspect that the game doesn't have anything of value to offer.
