It doesn't matter how much he's seen her or if his half of the family is disowned. They are still related by blood.

In my mind, the idea of sleeping with a family member is EXTREMELY fucked up.
I agree with you. I want to stress that strongly.

But.

A recalled genetic memory says that rooting the 1st cousin is safer than the 2nd or 3rd. I figure if he's got a rubber and she's cool with it, go nuts. It's creepy and wrong (IMHO), but if they're ok with it - go team (retard).
Huh, I would've thought that second or third cousin would've been safer because they would be farther apart from their common relative and thus there would be more differences in their genes and wouldn't be so closely related to each other.

That is certainly an interesting bit of info.
I would have thought that too, but thinking about it - the genetic combination are less likely to have regressed far from close relatives, than they are from a few degrees of separation.

Ok, I'm terminating this line of thought right now.

I'm ashamed to admit that the first word that popped into my head was "redneck". I try not to stereotype, but really. REALLY? That's just fucked up, no pun intended. I know us guys will fuck anything female with two legs and a heartbeat, but there are limits. Anyone related by blood is one of them, in my opinion.

You're "friend" is a moron, "technically" related wouldnt be by blood. They are "actually" related! Tell him that and if he tries to argue with you tell him I gave you the info and he should soon shut up... if he doesnt send him my way and I will argue the face right off of his face!

Seriously, I will argue at him so hard he will regret every decision he has ever made by the end of it.

My philosophy is: if it feels good, do it.

The whole cousin thing is just another stupid societal norm that really makes no sense when you think about it.
Well, someone fancies a relative...

Its when you think about it that it makes perfect sense... inbreeding is a no go... just look at how stupid "pure breed" dogs are, seriously... what are you suggesting, that we screw our way back to the stone age?

ITS WRONG, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

I maintain if two individuals are consenting, I have nothing to say about what they decide to do... unless they consent to plot murder together... or something.

I wish I could have a hot cousin, but im an asian, so its an automatic no to attractive same race people.
OT:If they don't make kids, go for it. (I was thinking about Maryland throughout this whole comment.)

There's a reason a lot of countries don't have problems with first-cousin intermarriage. Single-generation breeding between cousins is barely more genetically dangerous than breeding with strangers. Less in some ways.

I mean, granted, the closest cousin I've ever crushed on was a third (daughter of my mom's first-cousin), but I'm attributing that to the double whammy of age gap and the Westermarck Effect.

Even though I would NEVER consider this myself, I voted why the hell not, simply because you know, it's his life.

Straight from the text book:
What are the risks of being homozygous for genetic abnormality?
- common ancestor is about 1 in 20
- first cousins is about 1 in 11
- first-degree relatives is 1 in 2

As you can see the closer you get the more chance of there being a genetic defect.

So motto is there is plenty of fish in the sea, you do NOT need to have sex with your family, unless you live in Antarctica.

Meh, whatever floats your boat. The royal families have been doing it for years. But if your children come out mentally retarded, please don't whine.
