Hmmm....well, while rouge is always nice on my characters(brings out their cheeks), I find most adventuring parties need ROGUES to help out.

(YES, I know that the spelling has already been commented on, but I haven't read any of the comments before I posted.

That said: I like Paladins. Pallies rock until 4th or 5th level, after which there is no need to go further in that class, but then you have a ton of prestige classes available, or can just multi-class out into something that is still USEFUL after the first few levels.

That poll has a glaring omission of all things Paladin - I've tried many times but I almost invariably end up playing yet another Paladin whenever it's time to roll a new character.

Also: Grahhhh!!!!! Why do people always do this?!!

Rogue n. 1. An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal.

This is the word you are supposed to use, because it's the right one. What you used was

Rouge n. 1. A red or pink cosmetic for coloring the cheeks or lips. 2. A reddish powder, chiefly ferric oxide, used to polish metals or glass.

This is extremely wrong, and liable to get you a few 'accidental' backstabs if you call your party rogue that, so remember "U after G, a person it be - U before G, oh dear, is that my kidney? *dies*".

It wasn't actually, I read through the entire thread before starting my post just in case somebody had commented on the whole Rogue/Rouge thing, but we're the only ones who noticed!

Ranger, Neutral Good.

The Ranger is versatile with strong combat abilities, wilderness skills and some light spell-casting. I don't really know why I play neutral-good, it's jus the alignment that appeals the most to me.

Started out as true neutral, but due to a Horror campaigns tendency to screw with a person's head, i am no a Chaotic Evil rogue. Best time ever, and my party doesn't even know it (mostly because my Bluff is good enough to convince people that murders are actually self-defense.)

Don't underestimate cantrips!

You are in a dark building with no lights.
You have ogres in the next room.
Your team all has darkvision.
You tell your team to close their eyes and cast light in the next room.
dispell the light and your team charges.

You just blinded an entire room of ogres because their darkvision will not come back into effect for another few minutes.

How does that work exactly? Darkvision isn't an ability with a timer or something, it doesn't need to be "warmed up". Light goes on, ogres turn lose/turn-off darkvision, light goes off, darkvision springs back on.

I like druids they do just about every thing and pretty well, if we are just using core classes. My favorite alignment is chaotic good but i never really liked the alignment system because good and evil should not be cut and dry, an my group cant hold a consistent game so my I have to change characters constantly (Shadowrun is a different story).

For me it's a toss up between cleric and sorcerer (I wouldn't touch wizards with a barge pole). Clerics have badass AC and sorcerers have enough firepower to win everytime, anytime. So I have no idea.

I'm usually a Sorcerer with a Chaotic Neutral stance. I tend to lean to being good in my choices though. Also I picked both because they were what I felt most like at the time when I was playing. I freaking love magic characters in games...

Salutations escapists!

Personally, Sorcerer, Lawful Neutral (Good inclined).

First, when playing a game, and thus separating myself from reality, I prefer the notion that I can summon up vast elemental power. Specific to sorcerers, I especially like the notion that it is a process of sheer talent and will. Perhaps my actions are less refined than the studied hand of a wizard, and my spells may be of a lower variety, but I get the job done.

Furthermore, because my spells are based on my charisma, I have a distinct talent for social situations, something that also might otherwise be a fantasy.

Lastly, my good inclination is a matter of diplomatic pragmatism. I find it better to make allies than enemies.
i must just ask, which edition are you playing ? And please dont say that you are into that 4th edition bullshit that turned dnd into a table top mmo style rpg.

if you play any of the propper editions, the only diferense between a wizard and a sorcerer are how they acvuired their spell powers.

im sorry but the 4th edition fucked up dnd for me that i dindt play for half a year, they took something i looked forward to and removed all the coustomation abilities, so now you cant make a special lv 10 wizard/lv5 fighter drow vampire or something like that, now you have to choose from the few premade versions like a goblin sniper (lv2 rouge goblin) instead of making your own because they didnt include a "mold" for each race like they did in 3.0E. yeah they have made it easier for the new players by draging them by the hand trough ways to make quick easy encounters and campaings but they forgot that the dnd rules are just suposed to be a guideline for making your own epic adventures and characters.

again sorry, but if you are playing 4.0 E, take a look at the 3rd edition and see how it should be.

It depends on my campaign so I really don't prefer a class over another. My favorite character I have played though is my Ranger/Animal lord.

When LARPing, my main character is a dex-based fighter who specializes with a katana. (Yes, I am aware that the Weapon Finesse feat doesn't normally apply to katanas, but none of us, including the DM, realized that until I was at high-tier epic levels, and I got Weapon Finesse at 6.)

Technically, he's a straight up fighter, but while our LARP is based on 3.5 Edition D&D, a lot of things are changed to streamline the LARPing, and to add more options, though one thing I find personally limiting slightly is that feats only come every 3 levels, regardless of class, not counting bonus feats (like a dual-wield ranger's ambidexterity). In that regard, the character is a Final Fantasy Tactics-style samurai prestige class, without the whole "having to carry around five of each sword in case one breaks on ability use" thing.

As for alignment, funny story. I started as Neutral Good (like I always did with Baldur's Gate II), but due to something bad I did at level 15-ish, wound up being shoved to True Neutral in an instant. I stayed there for another 25 levels, without trying. Currently at Neutral Good again.

This LARP has been running for a very long time, despite the fact that it's just a small group of friends. So we get very high level.

I also have an intentionally started True Neutral dual-wield ranger. Currently level 3 (nearly level 4) due to excessive XP penalties, because of the build. Plan on breaking my record for how long I can stay True Neutral.

Yes, I am a nerd. I do like how my True Neutral Ranger is playing out though, so I picked that for class of choice.

any kind of caster for me..i especialy like prestiges that give me spell lists from multiple sources (eg mystic theurge)

magic is about breaking the rules and bending the universe to your whims, i enjoy that.

i especialy enjoy pushing the magic system as far as i can, creating combination spells - that is spells that enhance or modify the effects of other spells.

let me give you an example: (this is a nice simple one)
create grease on a sloped floor, then make a blade barrier - laugh.

a more complex example:
1. set up a dimension door horizontaly on the floor with its exit point above it...
2. drop in an object. (eg boulder, sword, unconcious halfling)
3. when object has acheived terminal velocity, recast the dimension door placing the exit point at the location and facing in the direction of your choice, eg in the face of some one you realy dont like.

Oh and i totaly agree about not underestimating people with cantrips, especialy as some of them get more powerful as you get higher lvl.

lawful neutral, don't really know the classes well enough to say. Either a study based caster or a dexerity based fighter.

Druid, True Neutral. It's a very hard play style to pull off, as you have to maintain total objectivity and strive for a middle path in situations that are usually designed just for good or evil responses. It requires some creative thinking, but I like that. Plus, the higher level spells and abilities are just bad ass. As in instant-death, fear the reaper, total destruction bad ass. Everyone always underestimates this class as a bunch of hippie tree-huggers, which is probably why I like playing it so much. I love defying expectations.

I generally like going Chaotic neutral/good Sorcerer. Just something about having the power of the elements to my beck and call speaks to my inner madman. Oh what I wouldn't give to have magic...

Oh, and on the subject of cantrips, causing insanity by whispering infernal into someones ear, envelloping them in fairy fire and branding wizard marks into their doors is great fun.
