Is rape acceptable to joke about? Well it depends.

I didn't know whether to cry or laugh during the climax of the video.

See what I did ther... never mind.

Since the OP is a Brony, does anyone want to post those pony simulator video's, unless, they're, like, not allowed?

OT: I wonder if this would have been a big deal if his put down was actually good. Either way, he was in bounds.

Well, the Creeper did have it com-never mind, you know what I mean.

Besides, the Creeper fought back, so it's okay! :D

Where's a "yes" poll option? I thought it was funny and I will continue to watch Tosh.0 and any future comedy specials involving Daniel Tosh.
Just as I'll continue to post, retweet, and tweet this story to everyone I can until Tosh either apologizes or suffers monetary losses as the result of people no longer wishing to support him by consuming his product.
Glad to see that you'll stand behind a guy that thinks gang rape is funny.

Glad to see you are supporting fascism by not giving those who agree with him an option. Would be the same as making the vote-ballots accept only Republican (or Democrat for that matter).

I felt sorry for the creeper when my friend linked me that video last night. I never, ever thought I would feel sorry for a creeper.

Sorry but even if you don't know who Daniel Tosh is or "get" his style of humour you have no right calling him out on it in a comedy club. That's what's known as heckling, it doesn't matter if his comedy skit goes against your beliefs or values as a human being you shut up and let the guy do what he's being paid to do. Shouting out your distaste is just making the show less enjoyable for the rest of the paying audience.

If you don't like it don't laugh, or leave. I read the article and it said she went to see Dane Cook ( A wholly more offensive comedian. Not material wise, just on a human level)so she got her money's worth, she could have left easily with no loss to her.

You should know when going to a comedy show you're going to hear something you don't agree with that's the basis of comedy. It dabbles in race, religion, stereotypes, sexsism whatever if you don't like it don't laugh. No one is forcing you to regardless of what the woman in the interview thinks.

Bottom line, I am not a fan of Daniel Tosh but I am an even lesser fan of self-centered people who ruin a good time for everyone. Just because you pay to get into a show doesn't give you the right to comment on the show or air your beliefs while the guy's trying to do his job. You heckled the guy, he targeted you, he knew what had offended you and knew that saying something about rape would piss you off. It worked, deal with it, shut up.

Judging by the utterly stupid poll choices I'd say that OP just expected everyone to fall in line with his/her opinion.

Glad that isn't the case. Sorry the joke was made at someone's expense. But you know what? That's life. Fucking deal with it.

Go be butthurt elsewhere.

Same here, and I thought they all deserved some sort of punishment when I used to play Minecraft a lot and they destroyed my stuff.

Poor Creeper, he/she/it never asked for this. :(

I'm not voting in the poll because it is pretty pointless. There is not even a silly option like "Muffin" !
I make rape jokes on occasion with my friends, "its not rape if you yell 'surprise!'" but that is entirely conditional. Most of my friends have a pretty dark sense of humor anyways. We also make jokes about the holocaust, africans, etc. etc. Obviously these things are not ok to joke about, but we still find it funny.
Is it ok to joke about rape? No of course not, but depending on the people and the situation, just about any joke can be funny. I still laugh at Jimmy Carr's jokes and a lot of the time they are worse than the stuff that my friends and I joke about, lol.

As for Daniel Tosh, I've never found him funny. He struck me as one of those douchebags that gets fame and success by saying what everyone else is thinking, and showing you videos that you'd see if you followed any youtube channel or just about any site. He's like a Ray William Johnson Jr.

It will be interesting to see how this story progresses. I've seen my Twitter feed draw a little bit of attention to this.

You can stop now he apologized several hours ago.

Edit: Also you should problem realize there is a difference between a guy that finds rape jokes funny and a guy that would willing rape someone or actually allow someone to be raped.

Any joke used with a targeting intent is questionable (though most topics are accepted). However, humor is a form of social expression and as such I don't believe in limiting it by making any topic 'off limits'(*Please see first statement for mitigating circumstance).

To be honest, it would have been very ironic if she were raped during the act.

Those Twitter comments on those tweets make me sad. I've never understood why so many people just use it as a platform to attack others.

This is a ridiculous thread. How can you even talk about infringing on free speech? What kinds of jokes are unacceptable? Who is the authority on determining what is and is not appropriate? Honestly I am surprised at how few are defending their own right to free speech, and recognizing this as the first steps towards censorship.

There is a misconception that people have the right to retaliate against those who offend them. You do not have that right. You have the right to shut up and take it like everyone else. That is part of being a functional adult.

Because 99% of the population are self severing jerks at will use what ever means necessary to make their lives seem better or more important then they actually feel.

I suppose.
