Well, I sort of agree with Khell on this. Seriously, you can't really expect the human-run calendars and clocks be accurate enough to predict much of shit that's longer than a few months away. I mean, Khell pointed out that we should probably have our calendars set to 2001 right now, but we don't, because our time measurement sucks ass.
However, I don't think that the time will be uneventful, oh no. I think some pretty crazy shit's going to start going down around November 6, 2012, and end January 1, 2013. I mean, can you really expect the number of believers to just sit and wait for it to happen? No! For something that's as widespread as this, I expect anarchy. Shooting, looting, the lot.
See, if the Mayans had predicted any other day, we'd be going crazy around that day. It's not that they're predicting when some other force will destroy us. They just arbitrarily assigned a date for people to go crazy on, by saying that we'll all die then. It's self-fulfilling prophecy.
So yeah, times'll probably suck around then, but I doubt the end of the world.
