Well, I sort of agree with Khell on this. Seriously, you can't really expect the human-run calendars and clocks be accurate enough to predict much of shit that's longer than a few months away. I mean, Khell pointed out that we should probably have our calendars set to 2001 right now, but we don't, because our time measurement sucks ass.

However, I don't think that the time will be uneventful, oh no. I think some pretty crazy shit's going to start going down around November 6, 2012, and end January 1, 2013. I mean, can you really expect the number of believers to just sit and wait for it to happen? No! For something that's as widespread as this, I expect anarchy. Shooting, looting, the lot.

See, if the Mayans had predicted any other day, we'd be going crazy around that day. It's not that they're predicting when some other force will destroy us. They just arbitrarily assigned a date for people to go crazy on, by saying that we'll all die then. It's self-fulfilling prophecy.

So yeah, times'll probably suck around then, but I doubt the end of the world.

It could be many different things, and truth is, that only time will tell. It is quite interesting and odd that the Mayan's had calculated thousands of years into the future. And yet in 2012 the felt that there was no need to continue beyond that time frame, as there would be no point. In fact, we still haven't been able to fully unlock how they would have had the means to do something of that magnitude, and from my understanding we haven't been able to match their methods and scale of astral calculations.

In fact, if you look at a calendar, and it lists the moon cycles, we can thank the Mayans for their efforts. I think they mentioned something about the two forces of the universe colliding into each other at our exact location on the 2012 date. Acording to Mythological texts it is suppose to be the incarnations of good and evil coming together and evidently it will destroy the universe, or something upon those lines.

But despite all that, there is an event that is going to happen. When the moment happens that they had calculated, Earth will be in the exact center of our Universe for the first time physically. The whole other side of the Universe will be open to us for the first time. There is going to be some sort of shift that would occur if that had happened. Will it be what causes the poles to flip magnetically?" A new "astral season" of sorts? Some people believe that by this new side of the Universe being opened to us, that the dormant Psycic type abilities might awaken. There are all types people that will speculate on this, but no one will really know until it happens. I am somewhat concerned just because the Mayans did have some sort of premonition about this, and I wouldn't be as worried if their calendar wasn't so accurate and complete.

On a side note, something else to look into if you are open minded and curious about bizarre concepts is that you should look into Planet X (planet Nibiru). The 6 thousand year old artifacts the ancient Sumerians have left have some interesting things written on them. The cylinder seals are amazing just because they had the foresight to make something that would last thousands of years, unlike the paper of lost texts of lore. (I would almost like to start a whole separate thread about that topic if anyone is interested

Maybe that has something to do with Wikipedia being a user made site, allowing them to say almost whatever they want, be it supported by any real evidence or not.

With all that being said I think it would be wise to take precautions. The rapture we all know is probably on its way [actually I don't believe in the rapture], and god just might be telling us that at the end of the Mayan calendar we will all be gone. I am speaking symbolically of course, and god should not be compared to Christianity in anyway. Its just something to think about. I think the shit just might be hitting the fan, or it could all just be like the Mona Lisa and have no true meaning!
