I haven't played either DE yet (want to) but they don't have the ME3 ending, so I'd say go with them.

ME3 was pretty damn good, mind, even with the streamlined dialogue. Then the last hour or so went you-know-where. Also, it's best experienced with the other two games. I understand that the DE games are standalone.

Even though the ending to Deus EX: HR is mediocre, it is at least mediocre in a way that still manages to be thematically appropriate to the series and make sense in the context of the game. The rest of the game is nothing short of amazing and incredibly fun to play and legitimately has multiple different ways to play. The DLC for it is good too, if a bit hard at times.

ME3 however, has only a half-way decent beginning and middle, which while it refines the combat and weapon customization of the first two games to a razor edge, it basically all pretenses of being anything like an RPG and forces you to do many things only one way. Then it goes and has what is probably one of the worst and most revolting endings to any game, ever. And forces you to play multiplayer (in a single player game) top get the "best" of the terrible endings.

Deus Ex:HR is more enjoyable in pretty much every way.

People tend to forget that there are more than 4 boss fights in Deus Ex. Remember those conversation battles where you had to convince someone to do something for you? They are essentially boss battles and they are awesome!
I can't really remember any, excluding Zeke. Maybe that's because I had Jensen giving off his scent, but everyone just seemed to bend over for me with no effort.

OT: Get whatever's cheaper. Hell, that might even be Mass Effect what with all the hate and review bombing it's been getting.

Since you have played the first two Mass Effect's it seems silly not to complete the series. No doubt you've heard the ending(s) suck, but it's one hell of a ride to get there. Plus if you lost anyone in the suicide mission of ME2, it could have some great consequences. The multi-player is also fun and I usually do not indulge.

However Deus Ex is awesome, but also has a super shitty ending. Surely you can get both at a discount?

There is one with Zeke, one (maybe two, can't remember) with Sarif, one with Sandoval, one with Taggart, one with that guy who works in the Police Headquarters that used to be your friend, one with Tong, and one with Darrow.

I'd say ME3. The ME3 hate on these forums is fairly intense because of the last 5 minutes, but if you can get over that and really want to wrap up the series, you wont regret it. Mass Effect 3 is an absolutly amazing game despite those 5 minutes, and if you are in anyway attached to your Shep and your companions from ME1 and ME2, ME3 should be a no-brainer choice.

That being said, Deus Ex:HR is great too. It doesnt offer the same attachement as ME3(its not nearly as personal) but its quite the well-made game. Thing is, its ending has been quite accuratly compared to ME3's heavily critized ending so no matter what you choose, you probably wont end your experience with a "yay".

Urm, I think most people are forgetting that DE:HR also had a crap ending, soooo..... go figure.

They are both equally awesome but get the cheapest one.

If you loved ME1 and 2 and are willing to take 3 for what it is, get it. 100% get it.

Despite what the majority of the people on this forum say, it's a great game.

Furthermore, by now I'm sure you've heard how......... Unconventional the ending is, and will be prepared for it, rather than being surprised.

On the other hand, Human Revolution was one of the best games of last year.

I think it really comes down to what you like.

Mass Effect: Action Oriented, Epic, Conclusion to series.

Human Revolution: VERY Stealth Oriented, Smaller more though provoking story, Self contained,

I will try to aswer the way you asked: There is no reason to pick Mass Effect 3 over Deus Ex: Human Revolution, however there are many reasons to pick DE:HR over ME3.
Take HR now and once Bioware releases less awful ending, finish ME3 if you want.

ME3 if you've played 1 and 2. DE:HR if you have not. Play the first 2 before ME3. DE:HR, it doesn't matter.

Hmmm... a game with terrible combat(looking at you biotic) or a game with a game like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq5KWLqUewc]? I think its obvious that the later is the better choice.

Me3 is a short bland follow up to a once fantastic story... but has a great multiplayer, tho nothing you haven't done before.

DE:HR is a great single player game, with a decent story and somewhat decent game mechanics. The game is built around stealth; you can gun it, but its not easy.

The story makes up for that imo. I just hated how mass effect had the biotics because it wasn't something you could use by itself, you had to use a gun. That kind of defeats the idea of being a pure biotic player.

Human Revolution by far. Mass Effect 3 will leave you so crushed by the ending that you'll never want to play through it again, or any other Mass Effect game for that matter...
Not if you don't overreact to things.

And I say this as a HUGE Mass Effect fan. I also started a new character on ME1 after I beat ME3, and plan on beating that game 3 more times.

So, you're probably somewhere in the middle of us.

This is a hard one I love them both, well except for the "artistic" part. But if you haven't play the first two Mass Effect games I would recommend Deus Ex.
