If you loved ME1 and 2 and are willing to take 3 for what it is, get it. 100% get it.

Despite what the majority of the people on this forum say, it's a great game.

Furthermore, by now I'm sure you've heard how......... Unconventional the ending is, and will be prepared for it, rather than being surprised.

On the other hand, Human Revolution was one of the best games of last year.

I think it really comes down to what you like.

Mass Effect: Action Oriented, Epic, Conclusion to series.

Human Revolution: VERY Stealth Oriented, Smaller more though provoking story, Self contained,
Unconventional, yes. It's not a typical game ending, and I think that's one of the reason's people are so ***** about it (it also does suck.) That's not my problem with it, and I agree with you.

HR is amazing and a little more satisfying and thought-provoking.

ME 3 is a big ass action RPG (yes it is an RPG; not only are there stats, there is player choice and consequence throughout the game. The only part that doesn't take the previous 2 games into account as well as the 3rd)

Also, funny enough how people who hate ME3's ending (and, irrationally, the whole series, now) yet champion HR, when the endings are both fucking A, B, C endings

Don't spoil it, but they both take the exact same method with ending: a choice at the end of the game followed by a cutscene.

It's all about the journey, maaaaan.

If you want to plan your routes, use sneaky, sneaky tactics... Deus Ex HR

If you want to shoot everything in the face... MW3

It's that simple.

Since you've played the first 2 definitely ME 3. Of course all the hate over the game means it won't win the poll, but seriously if you've invested time into the first 2 games you owe it to yourself to play the 3rd. It IS the best game in the series, crappy ending or not. Everything up to the ending is pure epic win.

Dues EX HR was cool and fun and all, but to me it was one of those games where while I was playing it I was like "hey cool awesome!" then after I beat it I promptly uninstalled and forgot about it. Good game, but nowhere near compared to the experience I had going through ME 3.

You will be disappointed by ME3's ending so I recommend you get DE HR instead.

If you really wanna see how the trilogy finishes(and you import your saves from both previous games),you should get ME3 and take the ending with a spoonful of salt.

ITT - people willing to disregard the DXHR ending when it's just about as bad as ME3's ending.

OT - get both. They're both great games. Apart from both having terrible endings, they're not similar in any real meaningful way.

I guess they're about even in quality, but I had significantly more fun with ME3.

DE:HR's story is just so dry and the characters are a dull bunch. Decent gameplay and level design though.

Both games have crummy endings.

Both games let me down a lot because I compared them to their predecessors. Both games in their own right were at least halfway decent.

If you have played ME1 & ME2, definitely ME3.

If not, DE:HR.

ME3 has an insufferably shit ending, DE:HR has abysmal boss fights and the 'level up' style feature is terribad because you don't specialise, instead you just get godlike at everything.

Being a Mass Effect fan, I'll have to say Deus Ex.
ME3 is really good, but the ending is so bad that it actually retroactively ruins everything.
All your experiences in the previous Mass Effect games will basically turn to shit.
Besides, HR is a good game.

That's because HR's ending was foreshadowed, makes sense and at least gives you an idea of what happens afterwards, leaving the bad taste confined to the ending sequence. Mass Effect's leaks out and poisons everything.

Neither of them are anywhere near as good as Deus Ex's A,B,C ending though. That was actually done well.

Another vote for Dues Ex.

I've only played the first game of each and while Mass Effect impressed me more the new Dues Ex just looks fantastic.

Using DEHR as a narrative centered break from Dark Souls. It is a solid game, but theres just something about it that feels tedious and boring. Personally I find myself more interested in ME3 atm but still waiting for the price to become more viable. Im holding firm on either paying 20$ new for it or getting blockbuster pass and rent it.

So my final answer, Ehh, DEHR is cheaper at the moment and in essence the fill roughly the same sort of niche. Or you could play the original Deus Ex, and watch Blade runner to get pretty much the same effect if you wanted to go that route.

I'd say Human Revolution as well. I've played both ME 1 & 2 and after the whole ending shenanigan, i really don't even feel compelled to play ME3. But that's not why im saying to get HR, it's just a damned awesome game in so many ways (with the exception of the bosses *shudder*).

I'm still pleasantly surprised at how mature that game handled its premise. I thought it was going to be like "robots are cool, people, meh". But nope, it gave very valid and real reasons why there should, and shouldn't be human augmentation. Also it used big words; that's an anomaly in games. I kinda reinstall it now...

The chap in your first reply solved this. It's perhaps not as good as the original but apart from the boss fights I would say Deus Ex:HR is objectively the best made game in a very long time.

You have no idea how shocked and refreshed I am to find someone on this forum that holds my same opinions about ME3...

I actually quite liked how different he ending was. It could have been better in terms of choice and how your choices throughout the game affected it, I was still proud of BioWare for taking such a chance.

Also a very good point about the ending of HR...

As a ridiculously devoted fan to both games, I advise you to get ME3. Have no expectations for the ending, but it's still such a memorable, gorgeous game. Buuuuuuuy itttttttt

And DXHR too, if you can. Such a clever, satisfying game.

I just finished DX:HR yesterday, and I thought it was well worth my money. It's a fun game, good environments and dialogues. Was fond of the sarcastic nature of the main character as well :)

It also had an engaging plotline and in my eyes a good ending, which helps a lot.

DXHR. ME3 is worth playing but get it on sale or something. Don't make EA any richer than necessary for screwing up franchise milking.

DXHR's endings aren't as bad as ME3's, either. They're mechanically similar and DXHR's is probably more abrupt but the ABC options actually have something to do with all the ideas Adam has been confronting throughout the game. And they don't work by magic.

Technically, you can also get 4 options instead of 3. And a different cutscene plays after all of them, rather than the same one. :p

They both end on the same note, but Deus: Ex never made false promises to the contrary. So go with that.
