I bought MW3, I have Elite, and have greatly enjoyed it and will continue to greatly enjoy the game until either my friends who play it stop or CoD9 comes out, in which case we all migrate to that one and enjoy that one greatly.

It's always fun to come into these threads to look at all the people trashing the game (although there's much less of that here than usual, which is strange):

Yes, "It's just like every Call of Duty game EVAR!!!" argument; it's just like every other game. Just like every Final Fantasy is the same, every Mass Effect is the same, every "_____ game" is the same as "______ game 2".

Yes, "Only sheep buy these games!!!" argument; we're all living in a corporate driven trance while you run around with your special glasses (See They Live if you don't get the joke).

Yes, "It's Shit" argument; your argument was so compelling that I went and burned all of my Call of Duty stuff so that I'm never tempted by that shit again.
See, I played the first 2 Mass Effect games, and found them very different.

Can't say for all Final Fantasy games, but the ones I have played have fairly different mechanics as well.
That's exactly my point. It's easy for someone who just looks at them face value to say that Mass Effect 1 and 2 are the same game but someone who has actually played the game would be able to tell you otherwise. Just like it's easy for someone to look at MW1, MW2, and MW3 and declare them as the same thing over and over again.

I've said it before and I'll continue saying it until I get bored of it: Any video game series can be broken down and declared "the same" by someone who has never played the game before.

Nope. As it was with Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops, my stepfather bought it. I don't play it much, but it's pretty damn fun, and I am really enjoying the survival mode.

Nah I swore off Call of Duty games after World at War turned out to be a bit shit and MW2 came out with all the shit like 'no dedicated servers' as well as its needlessly higher price. I thought I'd lay off until the price went down but the thing is it never did to an adequate level and I just became apathetic towards it and its future releases.

I thought it would be difficult to stick to though, I really enjoyed Call of Duties 1 - 4, (with the emission of 3,) but I haven't looked back. The games just look more and more mediocre and in terms of gameplay experiences Call of Duty has been outstripped by pretty much every other AAA franchise in terms of quality and enjoyment - many smaller budget games are kicking its arse in this regard too. It's just been stagnating and I've been more than happy to spend my time and money on more enjoyable games.

I rented it to see how the story ended. I wasn't disappointed because I expected it to be shit. Best $80 I ever saved.

Pretty much knew that it wouldn't be worth my money so I just rented it from my local video shop, finished the campaign, spec ops in a day and spent the next day dipping my toes into the multiplayer... It wasn't even worth the 5 dollar rental fee haha

I did not. I'm not a fan of the first person shooter genre. Or rather, any game without a third person rather than side scrolling or 3rd person perspective.

And Modern Warfare games certainly do not stick out among the genre.

I've had it from the day it came out ans tbh I'm only just starting to find multiplayer actually fun, i think somethings just clicked as in I can get some very good scores lately + its really fun playing with a group of freinds n coordinating our efforts to win :). Anywho I havnt really touched the campaign mode although what I have played has been epic, really want to finish it. On another note I own every modern warfare and black ops and I really don't understand all the hate :(

Yep, bought it and still playing it. The Multiplayer is fun, if not a bit nerve racking at times, but I love playing Headquarters mode so yeah.

I'm also probably just easily entertained, but I play the crap out of Solo Survival mode. I'm at level 50 and I've got all the Trophies in Survival unlocked. Right now I'm giving myself fun challenges like seeing how far I can go Quickscoping only with an MSR, using handguns only, etc. It's a blast I tell you.
Hq is Probs my fave game mode to n yep nothing is more nerve racking than being the last Alive in SnD with 4 players still alive on the other team, eeeek :)

I got the game solely for the sake of multplayer and playing with friends. Everything else is pretty much dumped down in a corner which I rarely touch and don't really care.

As I have expected, the multiplayer portion is largely Bull Sh**, but its the kind of Bull where you get to occationally accomplish something and want to keep beating the said bull with the accomplishment. EG: Rarely killing someone off with an SMG during a point blanc face off with you and someone else with a sniper rifle when at most occasion the person with the rifle would win despite you have fired the first few rounds into the person's chest.

-That's COD for you.

Well, I didn't buy it... my grandparents bought it me and my brother for Christmas.
And you know, I'm actually enjoying it in short bursts. The Single player was a huge improvement over MW2's, Spec Ops is great in two player and Survival mode is (in my opinion) the best addition they could've come up with. The multiplayer is... frustrating, but still a blast.
I mostly play it to keep in contact with my brother, who only seems to be playing that at the moment. It's the equivalent of a big, dumb Hollywood action film. Sometimes, I just want to disengage and blow virtual shit up. When that happens, MW3 provides.

No I didn't buy it, maybe I'll pick it up when it's in a bargain bin second hand in a year or two to see how much more bat shit insane the campaign conclusion is but really I'm not that fussed on it. I don't think I will ever buy another new COD game...there is just nothing interesting for me in them. COD will never milk this particular cash cow again.

Nope. Borrowed it from a friend for a week, though. Played through the campaign and played some Survival with my brother and friends. I admit, that was fun. But I don't think I'm buying it just because of that one mode.

Played it again during the free weekend on Steam. Got headaches thanks to the low FOV. And the multiplayer doesn't entertain me that much to begin with. No thanks

Yep I bought it. Singleplayer was horrible, cheesy, overblown Hollywood crap (as I expected), multiplayer had thankfully fixed a lot of balance issues (although duel-wielded machine pistols still out-cheap everything) and the Spec-Ops mode held the very pleasant surprise of Survival. Overall I'm glad I bought it as it is a marked improvement over MW2, but the ridiculous SP plot stops it being as good as MW1.

Be honest but does the majority who say it's bad actually played it, and for more then like two hours?

I bought the 360 version while it was on sale,I ended up selling it to a buddy. I just could not move from PC to console controls.

Didn't buy it because the E3 demo turned me away with the high speed Boat minigame that was straight out of MW2. Plus, I've grown out of those games. Give me a Sneak themed Splinter Cell or Tactical based Rainbow Six over a Gun blazing Shooter like Call of Duty any day.
