Poll: Do Girls Like Super Smash Brothers?

In my gaming group, we have two girls. One is rather indifferent to the game whereas one has stated that she "hates" the game. I can sort of see where she is coming from since we have three guys in this group (myself included) who are good enough to fight circles around some of the others in the group (and I'm not commending my skills, but the fact that they aren't that good). And I don't even really try hard or play with my best characters every time. usually I ignore them and focus on one of the good players because they are usually assholes anyway.

So not every girl likes SSB (unfortunately). But it seems like more girls I know like Mario Party. (which is sad because we've ended up playing that more than SSB and i'd rather play some SSB more often).

I have played SSB with a multitude of people, none of them girls but that said Almost all of my gaming friends are guys. However, I hardly think that is a premise to assume that girls just don't like SSB, It just makes me think that my experience with fellow gamers is limited.

I've found that they enjoy the game for about 20 minutes, which is about the same length of time I can have fun playing it for so it works out nicely. After that, everyone starts to get bored of it.

I do play Street Fighter games for hours at a time though. They're great! SSB is too simple for me, which is why it does appeal to girls a bit. That and the cute characters. I'd say your findings are incorrect. If you found a girl who did enjoy playing Street Fighter though... Send her my way haha. THAT's rare.

I'm a girl, and Smash Bros used to be one of my favorite games. I still pull it out every once in a while at parties and when I have guy friends over. However, I'm a semicore gamer girl, so I'm probably not typical.

I've met plenty of women that like Super Smash Bros. I remember a particularly fun gaming session playing Melee with a group of eight friends, five of which were women. There was also a female supervisor at my old job that loved the series. We both bought Brawl on launch date, and we spent a good half hour or so dicussing our impressions and who our favorite characters were.

I'm guessing that girls that like SSB like it because they feel like they are playing a fighting game (an easily accessible one at that) without needing to know a laundry list of complicated moves. It also helps that there is a handful of characters that girls would enjoy playing.

Girls who don't like this game don't because they are not interested in video games in general.
