Not to be offensive, but people with Downs Syndrome technically aren't human (wrong number of chromosomes), but they get the same rights (more or less).
how do you know? i mean there are so many planets in a solar system and so many solar systems in a galaxy and err...how many galaxies are there? what are the chances of us being the only planet in existence to have intelligent life?Berethond said:

I think its a pretty solid system. Sure you can lie to other people and say you don't think you are an asshole (when you personally know you are) but that's just being an asshole and returns us to the original rule.
Plus more often than not examples of why we shouldn't just not be assholes end up being straw men.

I'd say yes they deserve them, but trying to get them to see it that way is always a terrible idea. We have the same problem on a much local scale with the west and fundamentalist Islam. They treat women like shit,but because we bomb the crap out of them in an attempt to prove otherwise, none of them are going to listen.
I don't see how we can impose our "morality" on another race when not everyone holds true to the same boundaries of morality on our own planet.

It's a complete fallacy that any group has unanimously had it all gravy. That fallacy is why everyone will never be gravy, because we largely assume that fellow of race X has more gravy than us when it is likely that he has just as much desire for gravy as we do.
Most humans are sitting in front of a plate of potatoes and don't have the amount of gravy they wish they did. It doesn't matter what color you are, more often than not it matters where you live not who you are.
If you live in the center of Africa you can be as white as the driven snow and still be in the shitter. If you live in the puget sound you can be as black as the darkest night and still have it pretty good.
The biggest mistakes those aliens made in District 9 was not landing near Seattle. Washingtonians would have been all up in their space ship hooking them up with high speed internet.

The prawn buggers have rights. One of the greatest ways to interact is to eat each others food. why can't they do this, why do we treat them like dirt and slaves.
