Hell no. Love is just a chemical reaction to get you to procreate. The actual "relationship" once the chemical stops being produced is just one of convenience and need.
The woman needs some one to pay her attention and give her things, the man needs sex.
True enough, but I'll enjoy my brainwashing while I can.

I have no opinion on "true love", as I've never been in love.

@OP

Yo, Dawg. You're sixteen. You have and had no idea what love is, much less true love, regardless of what ya think now. Ten years down the line, you'll most likely look back and realize that what you had with GirlX wasn't really love so much as it was a myriad of other things; societal pressures, raging hormones, etc.

Sure, why not?
Just because I haven't experienced it yet doesn't mean it can't exist.

Being in high school, you'd think true love was easy to find. "That dude with the skateboard (always named godamn Seth or Drake or Tyler) is aweshum and like so sweet he's my foreverevereverevereverever <3"

I think love is just putting up with someone for the rest of your life, how can only one person be the only person you can feel for, then theoretically divorces shouldn't be as common. Though I'm probably just a cynic who has a heart of ice but whatever <3

Well I truly love cake but the cake is a lie so is the love we share really true?

OT: Hell no!!! Love is built on a solid foundation of lies and deception so how can love be true. I agree that love can be absolutely awesome but it doesn't mean it isn't lying.

I don't really believe in love. I believe in a series of electrical impulses in the brain programmed for continuation of the species. I still can enjoy it, though.

I believe in true love, but not that everyone can find it. The only thing greater than true love is a nice MLT

It does exist.

I've been in a relationship for nearly 7 years now, my uncle and auntie who are in their 50s have been together since they were 16, same thing with my late grandparents.

I do think people misunderstand true love though, its not like that honeymoon period that your hormones give you.

Its a lot deeper than that, its like having the bestest best friend in the world, having a connection so deep that you're always on the same wave length. You live in each other lives so much you might as well be the same person.

To be honest its really hard to describe, but it does exist and its more than just a chemical reaction in the brain.

Of course I do!

But I am also a hopeless romantic, so maybe I'm biased.
I'm glad that there are other people like me. Mind you, my head has been dressed up by literature and J-RPGs. I shouldn't have touched those games in my childhood...

That's like saying you don't believe in pain because it's all just signals sent to your brain. Or you don't believe in computers because it's all just electronics.
I'm trying to say it's nothing more than sexual attraction for continuation of the species, and not two people spending forever together and living happily ever after.

true love sort of implies that there is only one person in the world for you, i don't believe that, hell your chances of meeting that person would be extremely low.

If true love exists, I've never experinced it yet. It's proabley because I chose not to go in one if the chance arose, didn't think it would work out you know with the 90% fail rate at schools.

I most definately believe in true love...

Anybody who doesnt just hasn't met the right person yet. Don't let a bad experience jade you. If you broke up then its obvious the two of you aren't right for each other. Keep playing the game, you'll find someone.
First post nailed it!
I absolutely believe in true love. I'm married to her right now!

I think the problem with a lot of the cynicism the younger generation has on 'love' is that they expect to find it at age 14, 16, 18, or 22. The fact that I got married at 23 is pretty lucky (I would say 'blessed', actually). I've known people who didn't meet their 'true love' until 28, 30, or 32. And that's ok! 28, 30, or 32 isn't 'old'. Not at all. If those people live to be 90, they are only a third of the way through their life. That's a lotta living yet to go!

I'd say don't pull your hair out searching for 'the one'. The more you search in earnest, the more likely you are to make a mistake and be with the wrong person. I gave up dating, actually, before I met my now wife. I thought I was going to be alone (relationship wise), and I was ok with it. Then BAAM! Wife.
Yeah. True love is totally out there. Least-ways for me!
